A little noisy; but the food was excellent, the serve staff knowledgeable and the service far above average. Very enjoyable.
Nothing is more irritating to call to see what your specials are, be told them and then make a RSVP for 10 min later- get there to find out they have been out of the special for over an hour. They were out of many things like cheese fondue and a beer we requested. Whoever does the ordering needs to plan a little better and the staff needs to communicate with the hostess (assuming that's who answered the phone) the status on specials. Was very disappointed in my 2nd selection (Cheesesteak Sandwhich) for it locked flavor and was greasy- ended up not eating the bottom bread for was saturated with the grease from the onions and meat.

Another great experience! Service was exceptional, never felt rush! Food fantastic too! Will return soon.
My husband and I hadn't been here in awhile. We were happy to find a restaurant open Sunday evening where we could bring our out of town guests. All of us were happy with our meals ---ranging from a burger to a tasty preparation of mahi mahi. Also discovered that some bottles of wine are just $20 on Sundays. We'll be back again soon!

I got the pork chops with cheese grits and collard greens and in my food the chef left a piece of metal from the tie on the collard greens. Luckily I did not swallow it. The server quickly took the food away and asked if I wanted anything else or even a dish to take home so I opted to take home a flatiron steak. Even with the flavor of smoke and char, it was completely bland. No salt and no pepper to be found. It was also cooked between medium and medium-well when I had requested medium-rare (what I are of the pork chop was also not properly cooked and was far too dry). The overall service was good and both managers approached our table and expressed their embarrassment over the whole situation which we greatly appreciated. I have never complained or sent back a dish but the food was VERY disappointing and compelled me to write my first food review. It was clear that the chef put no care into their food, and for the higher price points that is unacceptable.

We were running late and still our party of 6 got seated right away! Loved the service and our waitress. The food was delicious! I ordered the shrimp and grits mmmm! My husband had the NY steak, I tried it and it was super good! The kids meals were huge and looked great! We will definitely return.
Thankful for Awesome Waitstaff
We visited Flatiron with another couple& each couple had a newborn in tow at 5 pm for a "get in get out" much needed dinner out of the house. Needless to say, it is hit or miss with bringing babies out, and the waitstaff was awesome-brought or drinks quickly, food, cooked perfectly, out quickly, and checks as soon as requested. Not only were they fast but kind and patient. This has always been one of our favorite spots, and it will continue to be as our family grows. Thanks, Flatiron!
Missed the mark
We came with a last minute reservation on Valentines Day, and it turns out we wouldn't have needed a reservation because the restaurant was not full. On Valentine's Day. That should have been our first clue. Unfortunately, we wanted to love Flatiron, but we just couldn't. As interesting and special as the menu items sounded, they all just missed the mark. It seemed as though a lot of thought had been put into conceptualizing the menu, but the execution was not at the same level. As a result, I feel we overpaid for sub-par food. Our waitress was very sweet, but could not make up for the disappointing meal.

This was my first time at Flatiron. At first I thought the service was going to be shaky but realized our server had an 8 top that sat briefly before we arrived. The hostess stepped up and took care of our beverages and this was just a blip on the radar. Our service was great and the food was fantastic. The staff is well informed on the different dishes and the local foods that make the dish.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, and amazing service.
Interesting location in downtown Davidson
Interesting food selection; both the filet and the bone in pork chop were delicious. Accompaniment for the filet and the lobster tail were very salty; really inedible. Service was good and the ambience was excellent. Nice little spot and we will be back.
Great local spot!!!
My husband and I have gone to Flatiron twice now, and both times the food was phenomenal! The menu is small, but packs a punch! We had the frog legs for an appetizer and they were amazing. I would say this is more of an adult restaurant, just because of the menu options, but it is a great place for a date night. I highly recommend.

Had a great time and the food was very good. A little pricey on the higher end items, but reasonable on middle and lower end. Great service. Had to change my reservation twice and hostess was very accomodating. A little noisy due to open concept and large bar area but good ambiance. Will go back and bring friends and family.
Great lunch spot in Davidson.

Flatiron Saturday Night out
We always enjoy our meals at Flatiron and this week I found that they have an extensive collection of rare bourbons, a real treat for me. Looking forward to eating here again soon.

Always wonderful. Wish we had it when I was in school at Davidson.
Always high quality
Love this place. Always great food and service. Unique menu options that make it a great date night. Caramel bread pudding was out of this world!
Disappointed in change
Since Flatiron opened we considered it to one of our favorite places and went there regularly. However our schedule does not allow our regular visits there and when we went last week I could not believe the difference. The menu had changed and was WAY overpriced with limited selection; the staff was bordering on rude and rushed us. They weren't that busy. With the competition now in their area they need to get back to where they were when they opened.
Terrific pre-theatre dinner
Deliciuos steaks and salads - child's portion matched adult plate size for $8.99! Perfectly cooked, seasoned and served. Burger must have been fabulous, teen inhaled it. Chocolate torte was a perfect finish, light but decadent. Coupled by lovely service and ambiance, terrific start to a wonderful evening.
This has become something of a default place for a good meal in a lively, but, not too lively venue. Our entrees were excellent. Next time will opt for beer rather than cocktails, however.

Great concept; open kitchen, local craft beer and eclectic food selection on a hot corner. Absolutely nothing on the menu threat we ate (artisan meat & cheese, Caesar salad, sirloin steak and venison 'special') that wowed us. Really cheering for them, but work to be done in the kitchen.

I haven't been since they changed their menu, and I was a little disappointed at some of the changes. They no longer offer a filet which is kind of weird for a steak house and the prices were a little more than expected. I paid $40 for a flat iron cut, and the filet was around $36. It was a great experience and everything tasted great though.
fun night out
This is a nice place with fantastic food! My only complaints are the prices are way too high and the menu is a little limited. But the presentation and taste of the food we ordered was very good.
Won't be returning
Service BAD. We are local residents but were in the opposing game colors on this evening. Our waitress treated us like we were an imposition. We were not given any specials (heard other table get them from her). When we asked, she told us that there were only 6 plates available and they were now gone. Hamburger came out mooing. Had to get another server to handle as ours acted as if we were not there. We have eaten here before but the rudeness of the server will now have us making reservations at one of the MANY new restaurants right there in Davidson.
We enjoyed a lovely quiet lunch at Flatiron. The service was most attentive and very few people were there on the day we were. Great menu too!
Great Dining Experiance
The best dining experience I have had in the area! Our server was great! The food was wonderful. Desert menu is out of the world! Highly recommend the salted caramel bread pudding!

As usual great dinner experience. Sometime we go with the kids and sometime not. Tonight we had a big group with kids and everyone had a great meal and a great time.
Perfect for business lunch
This is a great spot for a business lunch. It shows off beautiful downtown Davidson, has a fun vibe and good lighting. The food is also a bit upscale, which is nice.
Excellent, As Alawys
The service really stood out this time at Flatiron. Although we have always received wonderful service, this time, our server took her time with us, gave us ample time to enjoy chatting before ordering, coursed our meals perfectly, and was so friendly! As always, the food was delicious. Flatiron has definitely stepped their game up in both service and food quality, and we look forward to coming back time and time again!
not a place for brunch
we booked a table for brunch on Sunday morning, but were disappointed to find when we got there that they no longer serve brunch. The menu was a usual lunch/dinner menu, and didn't really suit our desire for eggs and pancakes. It was very busy, and there were not enough servers - we waited a very long time for our food, and getting a cup of coffee was like jumping through a fire hoop! I will not be back before noon.
Expensive bad food
This was the 4th trip to Flatiron for us and the last. Each experience has been basically the same- food is way over priced and never good. Selection is poor and wait staff pretentious. Have tried it 4 years in a row hoping it will be different. But after this time we are done. Food is tough- pork chops full of fat, shrimp tough & chewy. Cheese plate only enough for one small person at $15... Don't waste your money.
First time here and found the food to be very good. We had mussels and tuna tartar for appetizers - both were excellent. For our entree we both picked the scallops which were delicious. We will be back!
Not open for dinner until 4PM
My reservation for dinner was at 3PM but they do not serve dinner at that time. The Opentable reservation did not indicate when dinner would be served. I did notice the booth we were placed at had a large rip in the leather. We left and had a superb dinner at Bone Fish in Huntersville. P.S. We sat at Flatiron for quite a while without a waitress coming to our table. It was a loud afternoon beer crowd that she was catering to. I like Flatiron for the food and if I want a beer I know where to go to be served.
Make Reservations for Early in the Night
Have made many trips to FlatIron in the past, Friday night ordered the New York Strip Special. Worst steak I have ever had. Stick with the Filet.
Excellent menu in a refined casual environment
I have never had a bad experience at Flatiron in any way. The menu is interesting, the food is excellent, and the service is the perfect mix of attentiveness without being overbearing. Flatiron is in my top five restaurants in the Charlotte area and my tastes are pretty eclectic.
Awesome Overall Experience!
The service was amazing from the Hostess to the Manager. Accomodated our every demand. The food was amazing...just recommended it for a neighbor ...date night!
Good Food, Don't sit by the windows...
The food was very good. The battered onion rings were some of the best I have ever had. We ordered one steak Medium and the other Medium Rare, but they came out exactly the same. We had to send the medium back to get cooked a little more. Still, they tasted excellent and were very tender. The biggest issue we had, and it may prevent us from going back again... is that every table along the windows and some around the outside edges have the air conditioner blowing directly on them. It will never be warm enough outside to require that volume of cold air blowing on someone. We moved tables, and it got a 'little' better. We watched two other couple do the same. I would highly recommend taking a parka because a sweater just won't do.
