Fiola Ratings and Reviews

Fiola is the best restaurant in DC. I may be biased, but whenever I go somewhere else which purports to be high caliber...it never matches Fiola.
Top notch food, high end atmosphere
Had a recent lunch with friends, and food was perfection, as always when I've been here. Also good atmosphere and service generally, however the service was slower than needed at lunch. At the level of quality you obviously don't expect or want fast-food pushy service, but our lunch took from 11:45 to 2:30 with what we felt were longer pauses than necessary between appetizer and main course, and then after main course for coffee. I would still highly recommend Fiola's, just be prepared for leisurely dining, even at lunch.

The food was very pedestrian given the price. It was very poor value for money. It appeared that the restaurant's view was that quantity made up for quality. Somw of the dishes were very poor examples were the pasta and a lamb dish. The lamb had a glutinous sauce. The cut of lamb was poor.

We appreciate the attentive staff. They did not rush us. BUT, still, must they clear plates before everyone is done??
Fiola at lunch
I have been to Fiola many times in the past and always been happy and well served. This time the food was not up to par and the service was poor. For example, bringing the second course to one diner while the other diner was still eating the first course. Even though this would not be an excuse, the restaurant was not completely full with people waiting to be seated. No reason to rush us for this business lunch. Another example, repeatedly asking if another glass of wine was wanted when the first glass was still 1/3rd full, etc. The tortellini with proscuitto was excellent, but the two halibut and the branzino were nothg special. So unlike any other time that I have dined here. Disappointing!
Another great Birthday lunch at a DC standout
Every time I have been to this restaurant the food, ambiance and service have been top notch. The menu was very seafood heavy on this visit, but all the items my party ordered were excellent.

One of the Best in D.C.
Fiola's is not to be missed by those who want to sample the best dining in D.C. The food was delicious and the service attentive. I ordered ala carte and my husband several courses, and they brought me complimentary dishes so he would not have to "eat alone." It was so unexpected but a very thoughtful gesture.
The service and food at this D.C. restaurant were terrific. Mainly a prix fixe dinner, though you could order a la carte. Three courses plus dessert was more than enough. The lobster ravioli for the main dish was a standout. The tuna crudo and cauliflower panna cotta also hit the mark. This is not a casual place. Most diners were dressed up as if for a special occasion.
Good, and bad
Our food was good, and the place is beautiful. But, surprisingly, the service was a bit unpolished and quite inattentive. It took a while for our server to greet us, then I didn't get the napkin I requested, the people next to us didn't have their silverware, there was a mix up with both our appetizers and dessert, and we had trouble getting someone's attention when we needed it. This is an expensive restaurant, the service needs to be much better. In addition, we were puzzled at how unnecessarily complicated the menu and food were. Several choices of number of courses in different tasting menus with different portion sizes? Too many competing ingredients in all the dishes- truffle AND cheese AND scallions AND garlic AND peas AND asparagus AND mushrooms AND foam, all in one small dish? If you can cook well (and clearly this chef can), why all the complications? I just seemed pretentious.

Everything was super delicious. Lobster bisque was one of the better things I've eaten in a while, and the smoked potato gnocchi was delicious. The filet was slightly overcooked (medium rather than mid-rare) but was still tender, and the foie gras was great.

best in DC, competitive with NY's best
spectacular and diverse flavors, textures and ingredients, all handled with harmony and drama
the food was fabulous. sooooo flavorful but not heavy. definitely a refreshing change from the restaurants that want you to be so full when you leave that you can't remember the flavors.

The service was incredible the ambience was very romantic. We got the 3 course meal. The lobster bisque and lobster ravioli was recommended so I got that and the wagyoo Beef steak. The lobster was very rich and ok and the steak was very fatty and not really good. The tiramisu was one of the worst I have tasted. My meal was a disappointment but my husband got veal tortillini which was fabulous and fish which melted in your mouth. His chocolate dessert was wonderful. Overall the restaurant was very good and would go again but I would not order the same food. The wine list was extensive and exquisite.
Too much creamy
The food had so much potential but I was turned off by how much cream was used in the fish and pasta. The tiramisu tasted as if it had been frozen and still had frost on it.

the menu was misleading. there was a set menu that we shared bit we charges a la carte (way more expensive)
Elegant accommodation for guests with food allergies - everything marvelous down to the smallest detail.

This used to be my go to restaurant but recent changes have reduced my opinion of this restaurant tremendously. I ordered the three course option and my appetizer and dessert were very good. The two main dishes (which I had ordered in the past) were just ok - not nearly as good as they were in the past. That was disappointing. In addition, I really liked the option to select what I wanted and mix and match items including salads as I desired. It allowed me more flexibility in having different kinds of dinner - lighter through full meals. Now I feel like only part of the menu is available and to be honest it just didn't impress me like it used to. It almost seems like many of the menu options are just not the same caliber they used to be and I wouldn't recommend them. Hopefully Fiola will make another change for the better in the near future.

Taking Italian dining to another level
We are well traveled foodies and love anything Italian. We absolutely loved Fiola and their fine-dining approach to classic Italian dishes. The food was elegant and brilliantly prepared, but without losing sight of their Italian heritage. The Service was impeccable and the wine list was extensive. We highly recommend this for anyone looking for a special experience, either a romantic getaway or simply to impress a business associate.
Fiola was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday and Easter. Impeccable service, exquisite food, great wine and 4 desserts. I couldn't have been happier. Lobster ravioli out of this world. The giant chocolate egg just topped it. Thank you.
Fiola was luscious
To my pleasure and delight Fiola is hosting special occasion brunches. We went to their first this past Easter Sunday and it was gorgeous! A delight for the senses. Beautiful food, beautiful setting, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly service. A complete delight. And a chocolate favor to remember the experience! Thank you Fiola!

Everything was just wonderful. After going to Fiola several times, they never cease to exceed expectations.
This is a nice restaurant but it's not amazing. The food is very good and the service is okay.. but not good enough to justify the high cost. We were excited to try this restaurant but walked away feeling somewhat disappointed in the overall experience. the menu is small with very little description so you have to ask your server about every item which is a bit annoying. Our food came out lukewarm and we had to send it back. we are happy to splurge for a great meal but we walked away feeling the experience didn't meet our expectations.
Wonderfully creative Italian, nice pre-fixe menu, delightfully attentive service. Delicious all around !
This restaurant was unbelievable. Probably one of the best restaurants that I've eaten at in all of our wonderful vacation spots. The tasting menu was fabulous - had the oysters (best ever), lobster bisque, and prawns. Then topped it off with coffee and a chocolate dessert that was to die for. The service was top notch too - worth every penny for an extra special evening.
Superb dining experience.
Superb dining experience.
I have never had a better meal or received better service. My wife and son joined me for my birthday celebration. We could not have chosen a better place.
The menu is confusing, and the waiter is rude. Food is just Okay.
I ordered the Maria Menu because I worried about not finishing food. It was great! Everything was so delicious, and the right amount for me to finish. Also, the price was cheap considering how good the food was! 28 for Maria Menu, I 'd say it's totally worth it. The atmosphere in the restaurant made me kind of nervous, since I am just a traveler but everyone around me looked like politicians/lawyers. But maybe that's just me.

Dining at Fiola is an event. Fiola was recommended as the top restaurant in DC. The food and service did not disappoint. The prefix style menu was carefully explained with detailed description of menu items and personal preferences that required tweaking were encouraged. There were 7 in our party & that was the maximum number that could fit unless you had their private room. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the food and with the friendliness of our waiter. There was a wait between courses especially for dessert. Honestly we were all rather full by the time it arrived & at that point we had been there for 3 1/2 hours on a work night.
The finest restaurant that I have dined in Washington in sometime. Staff went out of the way to please a demanding guest.
Best Wine List Ever
Fiola is by far one of the best places to eat in DC. The food is outstanding and the wine list is what your dreams are made of if you know anything about wine. The oysters are some of the best I've ever had- nothing on the menu is bad. The prices are higher, but the quality and the overall experience is 115% worth it. Worth every penny.
Wonderful elegant dining
From the hostess to bartender to the bus boys everyone there is focused on making your dining experience a relaxing and enjoyable one. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Fabulous experience.
The special place for the special occasion
Perfect beyond expectation! The special place for that special someone , for that special occasion! High end food, service and overall quality. Be prepared to pay accordingly.
Addictive Food and Service — Simply Awesome!
This was the best food experience that I had in Washington last week and in a long time. It comes highly recommend! Don't forget to try the tuna with lime cream and trout caviar - WOW! When I'm back in Washington again, this will be first on my list.
A nice gem in the chef's crown
Professional service, tasty, seasonal and got it done. The pea risotto was great. Turbot was flaky and flavorful. And YES they have the lobster ravioli from Fiola Mare, which is worth the price.
