El Cisne Ratings and Reviews
Great service, yummy food.
We went for my wife's birthday and we all had a great meal, fast , friendly service and a free birthday desert to end it all up. We all want to get back there soon.
Excellent Foothills restaurant
Everything was great; the food, the service and the location. Will definitely return.
We were in town to visit my father. The mussel appetizer was terrific along with the Cadillac margarita and complementary chips. We all had different entres and all we excellent. Will definitely be back!
Delicious and authentic
My husband and I had a delicious dinner. The quesadilla and fajitas were very good. The portions are large. Gluten free friendly too.

The food was good but service was horrible. Took 20 minutes for us, after tracking a server down, to get water and a menu. An hour and 40 minutes later we got our dinner (2 tacos with meat nothing else. They forgot the lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro).

After living in New York for 5 years, we have a tendency to compare our dining experiences to our past memorable experiences spent with friends enjoying meals in NYC and in Brooklyn. My husband and I had the pleasure of taking NY friends to dinner here in Tucson recently and we were not disappointed. El Cisne provided a wonderful ambience with good lighting and minimal noise and a delightful menu that included a nice choice of delicious appetizers, entrees, Margaritas, desserts and aperitifs. The prices were comparable to many restaurants around the city and the meal could be created mild to spicy upon request. We enjoyed the Salsa and Chips as well, and the frijoles were authentic (another stickler for me). The service was excellent and I am one person who places great emphasis on this one important detail as it can lead to an unfavorable dining experience. Our server was Deanna and she was very attentive; the bartender was very friendly as well (failed to get his name). I would definitely recommend El Cisne to friends and family. We plan on returning to the restaurant in the near future in order to try their Happy Hour menu that includes Tequila Flights and appetizers including live music on Tuesday and Fridays.
customer service was inauthentic.
While several tables were available, we were offered a table by the entrance. When I asked for a recommended drink, the most expensive drink on the menu was suggested. Chips and salsa were brought to the table but we did not have any water and we were not warned that the salsa was a spicy. We canceled part of the order because it go too late and we were still waiting for the food to come ...
A Pleasant Evening
This was our first time dining here. We had a party of 7. There was no wait on our reservation. The first great surprise was the live guitarist... Contemporary popular Spanish favorites.... And on a Tuesday night. The menus had all the traditional dishes plus some others. The snapper Veracruz was excellent. Everyone in our party was pleased and even with the collection of tequilas we sampled, the meal was relatively inexpensive. I'll be eating there again for sure.
Drink here, but don't eat
Facilities and staff are excellent. Food is poor unfortunately, and very pricey for what you (don't) get. Sea bass was a total disaster, one of the least pleasant fish dishes I have ever had.
Good food, not so good service
Fortunately, the food was quite good or this review would not have any positive comments. We had a reservation for 6:30 PM and arrived on time. Although there were several empty tables, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated while there was some discussion at the back of the restaurant. After being seated we waited another nearly 14 minutes before being even offered a glass of water. Another minute and we would have left without eating. Our glass of wine was brought rather quickly. But, we waited a good half hour for our meal. We were told that things were running a little slow. However, people at the next table were seated after us and received their food well before we did. It does seem to be quite a neighborhood place and perhaps you get better service if you are "in the know".
Good food. Very personable waiter. A bit too noisy. Excellent coconut flan!!
Great spot, worth a visit

What I like most about El Cisne is the service. I've never had to wait long for beverages, salsa, & chips. The food is very good. We've tried a few dishes so far and have not been disappointed. Refried beans and rice are yummy. Hope you enjoy!!

Best Mexican Restaurant in the Foothills
Great food and wonderful service. Love that fact that it's right around the corner.
Nice experience very friendly atmosphere
Would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family
Great Happy Hour!
This was our first visit to El Cisne, arrived @ 4pm for Happy Hour. If I see ceviche or birria on the menu, I always order it - love both but am often disappointed. El Cisne has the best ceviche that I have eaten in Tucson, fresh fish and shrimp marinated in just the right blend of marinade and spices, served with pico de gallo. It was superb! And the birria was outstanding - so tender and moist, served with warm flour tortillas, just melted in the mouth. And the staff was very accomodating and friendly, very attentive to our needs. All in all, it was a great first experience and we will be back!
We had a great dinner and great service!
We went there on a Saturday night, the hostess sat us right away. It is a very nice place, an upscale Mexican restaurant. Fast service, the waiter made sure we had time to get Happy Hour prices.
My friends and I have dined here several times. It has never disappointed us. Sometimes it can be a bit noisy but ultimately worth it. We love the fish. The seabass is outstanding
An off night for El Cisne
I have been to El Cisne a few times now and always enjoyed the food. This last time was no exception. Although the food was good they did have a few problems. We did have to send a cheese enchilada back that was totally over cooked. El Cisne took care of it quickly and with no problem. When checking out my friend and I decided to split the bill. Checking the bill I was surprised to see that we both had been charged almost the full amount of the bill. Again after this was pointed out, it was taken care of with no problem,
We had a scallop dish and shrimp dish. Both excellent. The usual tacos, burritos, enchiladas. We were happy to see such seafood selections. The waiter and help sang happy birthday and presented flan with a single candle. A nice touch
We went on Valentine's Day, and the restaurant had a fixed price limited menu, including alcohol. We had strawberry mojitos wiTh only a trace of strawberries. Appetizers were OK, and the chicken mole main course was poor. The other mains seemed to be too pedestrian for a special dinner. There were three listed desserts, but two were sold out before 8:00 pm. The service was very uneven, and we felt rushed. This was a disappointment.
The restaurant did not handle Valentine's Day well
There were only four choices and they were obviously prepared in advance. We were served the wrong meals. The perfect fix Chilean wine was very good but the rest of the meal was disappointing.
When visiting restaurant, good to meet the owner.
Enjoyed the experience, owner very courteous, food selection for celebration good.
Very little choices at expensive prices.
The hostess was rude and unfriendly. The food was not truly Mexican... Many of the dinner choices on the menu were not available. Including, avocados ... The steaks had to be made over twice... One of them was so rubbery, it was inedible... A waste of money!!!! The only saving grace was our waitress, who was sweet and very apologetic... No recommendation!
Nice dinner, with a couple of flaws
We went to El Cisne Tuesday evening with visitors from Washington, DC. DC has a wealth of great restaurants, but we thought that they might not have Mexican food as good as El Cisne serves. We all enjoyed our food thoroughly. The service was attentive and friendly, but too prompt in one instance - the server brought our main dishes well before we had finished our appetizers. The ambiance was quiet and pleasant when we arrived about 5:15 PM. That continued for most of our meal, until the musician who started playing about 6:00 started to crank up his volume to the point where it interfered with our conversation. Both of those small problems are easy to fix if the management wishes to do so. We've been to El Cisne many times, starting soon after it first opened, and look forward to going back on future occasions.
Jan 23rd Visit
Very nice restaurant and the food is very good and if they are not busy, the service is good, but when they fill up, the service is slower that normal and you can wait for service and getting your drinks if you ordered any.
Not what it used to be
This used to be an excellent restaurant. Not so these days. The food was tasty, but both the pork tenderloin and the chicken that our party ordered was tough, stringy, and overcooked. My wife's seafood enchiladas were lacking in seafood. And the prices were way too high for the poor quality of the meat. Sadly, we won't return as there are far better Mexican restaurants that know how to cut and prepare meat.
Food was bland and our server was inattentive, although other servers seemed better. As much as we like to support local businesses we will not return to El Cisne nor recommend it to others.
El Cisne Gets an A+ From Us
The 4 of us enjoyed our appetizers, entrees, and drinks thoroughly. This restaurant has many more seafood entrée choices than most Mexican eateries, and everything was prepared exactly right. We are on a low-carb regimen and they were happy to substitute a delicious blend of veggies for the usual rice and beans. Our ceviche appetizer was delicious, with just a hint of spice. The scallops and sea bass were both excellent, and perfectly cooked. The ambience is delightful, more subdued than the typical Mexican restaurant. Overall, we give El Cisne an A+!
el cisne shines
E l cisne (the swan) on corner of Swan and Skyline is nicely decorated with mostly standard Mexican food . I had a dish of Shrimp Adobados which was wonderful while my husband enjoyed his beef enchiladas. Too bad its so far from home.
Awesome food at reasonable price. Searched hard for excellent enchiladas and found them here
