E & O Food and Drink Ratings and Reviews
Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant
We were searching for a local eatery (on Open Table, of course) on a cold, rainy Saturday night while staying in the north burbs of Chicago. E & O looked interesting so we gave it a go. "Outstanding" doesn't begin to describe the food and service. (Our service was Mike). Yes, you must try the kale and Brussels sprouts salad, even if you are a meat and potatoes guy. Unique entrees with something for everyone and desserts you can't find anywhere else. We splurged with drinks, appetizers and dessert and our bill for three persons was just under $150 without tip. But this was a special occasion and well worth it. You could have a nice meal for under $50 if you wanted to.
E/O was excellent when I went there for lunch. Great $8 priced lunch meals. When we went back for dinner, the restaurant was busy, and the initial seating was accompanied by a water spill by the seater (no big deal). The wait staff is young and learning, and tended to be pretty up-tight. Didn't feel like they made our 6 yr old grandson all that welcome. Again, they're young and learning. We did enjoy the food, and wine. I had a generously sized chicken dish, and my wife had Mahi-mahi which was nicely prepared. So for the suburbs, and Randhurst Mall, E/O is a nice place to go, great for lunch, and getting better (food OK now) for dinner. Give them a try.
Disappointed but great drinks
I had very high hopes for E&O after hearing good things from friends. Dinner started off great as the drinks were amazing. My wife had w strawberry martinis, they were so good and I had a Manhattan and it was probably the best I have ever had. Appetizers seems to be the specialty here and the shrimp brussel sprouts was really good. The cauliflower was ok, tasted bacon-y even though no bacon in the dish. We got sushi for our main course and it was very average. The rice seemed to be low quality rice. Appetizer plates sat on our table for 20 minutes or longer as food runners dropped off food at tables but did not stop at our table to take away plates. Despite the good drinks, one member of our party was unable to get a refill on his drink. This is a little off the beaten path, Randhurst, and I would not recommend making the trek.

Great meal! 4 of us decided to split a number of small plates plus a special. All top notch! A must is the kale salad! Even if you don't think you like kale you will love this! Fresh oysters, lots of sushi rolls and small bites. Drinks are great too! We will be back.,.

The food is consistently good. Try the kale salad or pork and watermelon salad. Both are very good. Our server was attentive and knowledgable. Have been there 4 times and we plan to go back.

Celebrating my wife's birthday we chose E + O since we had been before and loved it. Didn't disappoint. Mike gave is excellent service as he had to manage the needs of my 13 y.o. Twins. He did so with patience and creative ideas. From the Brussel salad to the chicken sisig (spicy) all the dishes we ordered were excellent. Sushi roll took longer than expected so assuming they were backed up. Birthday dessert and red velvet cake were a great finish to another great experience at E + O.

Innovative take on classics. Delicious. We were there for a business lunch and it was like a loop / West loop restaurant in the nw suburbs.

We've had Adam as our server before and was thrilled to learn he helped us again the other night. His suggestions are spot on...he's attentive and very friendly. Thank you Adam
A Gem in the 'Burbs
We've visited E + O several times and it never disappoints. Food is excellent, service is great. Don't miss the crispy Brussels sprout salad. Our server was knowledgable and friendly. This feels more like a spot you'd find in the city. So glad we have it here in the suburbs. Outdoors is wonderful in the summer. We will be back!
Great lunch but understaffed restaurant
I have been to this restaurant many times. The menu is always very creative and the food and service is excellent. Unfortunately when our group went for lunch the restaurant was understaffed and the meal was painfully slow.
The food is incredible, the atmosphere is delightful, and the staff is superior!
Good food and service. Restaurant was not very crowded for a Saturday night, so I worry about their ability to survive.

Service was not good, very slow!!! Salads were brought out at different times. I had to ask for a dessert menu because we were still hungry. We spent 175.00 for five people and didn't even have alcohol AND left hungry. I will never recommend this restaurant.
Another spectacular experience
Never have a problem at this restaurant. Our service was impeccable and the prix fixe menu for Randhurst Restaurant Week was a steal. Soup, Sushi and sandwich for 15 dollars. AMAZING. Near and Dear to my heart.
The ambiance, food and value are top notch. Service is good but at peak times can be slow. The decor is modern and original. The food is creative and well plated. the overall value is great. We were a party of 8 and all were impressed by how the kitchen presented original versions of classic cuisine.
I have heard friends rave about E&O for years, but we were disappointed. We started out with a drink at the bar. It was a very small area and the service was slow. I ordered mahi mahi for dinner and it was very dry. My husband's skirt steak was good. Our service in the dining room was fine. Don't feel the need to go back.
E&O is one of our favorite restaurants when we want something unique and delicious. We love their California Rolls, beet salad and clam chowder. They have many other items on their menu that are vey good also.. We always recommend E&O to friends.
Excellent service. I forgot the name of our waiter but he was extreamely courteous and helpful. Food and drinks were delicious.
Inexplicably slow and inattentive service, food ok
Overcooked ribeye, undercooked burger. Must be careful in reading the menu, as the items highlighted are NOT the featured items, i.e., squid. None in sight, just its ink. Most disappointing was the service. Took 15 minutes for the server to attend to our party of 4. There were maybe 4 other tables to serve, one larger party of about a dozen. Still, no excuse for either being understaffed or poorly organized, or both. After our appetizer and drink order, it took another half hour to take our main course selections. These were not prepared correctly (temperature). Just average overall, though priced higher.
A friend recommended and it did not disappoint. My husband and I split three dishes and we both loved all three. Great service. Only downside was you may need to walk a bit, depending on where you can find a parking spot.
Asian inspired dining with an American flare.
Asian inspired dining with an American flare. Excellent dining experience, good for dates. Has an upscale/fancy vibe to it. Dim lit restaurant.
Punching above it's weight class
E&O is certainly not the only restaurant of its kind to pop up in the last decade. We've been to dozens of similar places in a dozen different states, but E&O was a pleasant surprise with the attention to detail and the quality of each dish. It has the quality of a downtown after work place with the convenience of a NW suburban location. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I made reservations for Valentine's Day - this being my second experience and his first. The ambiance is low lighting and very romantic, with cozy seating options. Unfortunately we were unable to partake in their special Valentine's Day menu due to my seafood allergy, and there were no substitutions for the special menu items. However, the service was wonderful, and the food was amazing!
Really enjoyed a number of different dishes, from apps to entree's. All were excellent and generous portions. Very good value for the quality. Was a very busy night, so service was a little slow at times, but no complaints.
Interesting concept, menu and look. Didn't deliver on food or drinks. Would love a local fine dining alternate to Wildfire, Other Chains but this was definitely not it!
Our service was extremely slow, forgot one of the entrees, and they brought an entirely incorrect dish to the table and then were thrilled that we hadn't eaten it yet and took it away. The drinks and food were good. Most items were really good, a couple of the specials lacked taste and appeal. The service did leave is rather frustrated. I had been here before and really enjoyed it. This was a special celebration and I felt bad that we did not have a better experience.

Food was excellent. Although it took 90 minutes to get and arrived 10 minutes apart between the 6 folks having dinner there.
E&O is a great neighborhood gem with a unique taste twist. They have different, very interesting choices on their menu to satisfy many different taste buds. We especially love the California Rolls, clam chowder and the carrot pineapple cake dessert, but there are many other delicious menu choices. The service is usually very attentive, knowledgeable and professional. We eat at E&O frequently and always enjoy it! We will continue to recommend it to others.
We came in for lunch on a slow cold day. we were the only table in our servers section yet the service was very slow. Food was great however. More attentiveness from her would have been appreciated.
