This place just had that experience that I can't get elsewhere. Something about it is just amazing!
Evening at Duke's
The food and atmosphere was great. A bit on the pricey side and you have to pay $6 for valet parking. However, the atmosphere and view etc make it a restaurant to visit, even if the price stops you from visiting regularly.
Fantastic Family Feature
Had a family Brunch get-together and had a wonderful time. The Brunch is great and the view is breath-taking. Could not have picked a better place.

Made a 7:00 pm reservation for 7 people, butwere not seated until after 7:30. Service was was not up to their usual standards, especially before being seated at a table. Bar was fine, we were just waiting a long time. Things did improve though, the food was good and the waitress was attentive after a slow start. The lights going up, down, on, and sometimes completely off, did a lot to kill any mood or ambiance. Not their best work.
Aussie friends enjoyed this place
We recently had friends visiting from Australia and we drove up from San Diego to spend time with them. We arrived just in time for the sunset so they were thrilled. Dinner was good and everything was great. The lights kept flickering on and off through out our meal as to the point where they actually went off. There were holes in the wall scattered about, not big holes but definite noticeable. All in all, the dinner was good. I wish, for my personal preference, there was a smaller option for the prime rib because the 14 ounce was too big for me to finish and it was a waste of food as we were not traveling and couldn't save it.
Felt like I was back in Hawaii
We went for our anniversary and felt a little overdressed but it was a very fun place to hang out with a BEAUTIFUL view (we felt like we were right on the water and even saw a whale from our table!). The waitress was super sweet, but was busy so service was a little slower than I would've liked but we were in no rush! There were hula singers and a dancer going to the tables, which was a nice touch but also makes you feel pressured to tip them when you didn't ask for it! Given, it did make us feel like we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii! Food was ok, not great not bad. Hula pie was great! With paying for parking it can all add up fast but was a great date night overall!
Restaurant is nice.

Loved our window seat in the bowling alley!!
We requested a window seat for out special birthday celebration. The children loved their sliders as well as the kalamari. The fish tacos and the sushi were wonderful. The hula pie with the birthday candle was such a delight that we had to order another one to share. The view was enhanced by the dolphins we saw on the beautiful day last Sat. What a perfect birthday celebration! Thanks Duke's. So fine, as always. Now have to go back to Hawaii again, where all this began.
They are renovating while not compensating the guests for the poor ambiancen the loud noise of the lady in the next booth was a bummer for our anniversary dinner.
Aloha yourself out at Duke's!
I had never been to Duke's but took my friend there for her 32 bday. She wanted a spot in Malibu and I had always passed by Duke's and heard great things. I had assumed it was going to be upscale, expensive, great views, young, hip, great seafood. We sat at their bar for the first hour and transitioned into the dinning area for dinner. Their website presented a white table cloth feel yet the inner decor of Duke's is more like 80's island fever Hawaiian shack tropic. Other guests were dressed in flip-flops and t-shirts so there certainly wasn't a dress code. Families were there with kids and booths were their main style of table furniture. Perhaps we were a little overdressed but older men were listening in on our conversation and commenting the whole night. I wouldn't call Duke's classy, but it does have great cocktails, friendly service, quick service, nice menu and they brought out the biggest piece of bday cake as a surprise (which they comped). It was coconut ice-cream with fudge and whipped cream and they were very generous and it included a lit-candle. The food was tasty, although nothing amazing on presentation and certainly more battered and fried diner style but with upscale prices. We paid about $40 a main and $12 a cocktail. The drinks were really yummy with attention given to glassware and garnishes. A+ to the bartender. The view was spectacular. We had a window table, literally meters away from the water. You can see the ocean waves crash against the rocks and a beautiful sunset. They also close early. So overall, I would definitely come back to Duke's but probably more for brunch and wear my hawaiian shirt and jeans next time with sandals. Oh and try to make Aloha hour!

As expected, the view is amazing. Food was solid, in this case my party had the brunch. It seems like there are a lot more selection options at the Huntington location though. The service was actually pretty poor today. Server was not attentive and we only saw her once after she brought 1 round of drinks. One person in our party actually had to seek her out to bring the bill. Not sure why she didnt want to boost up her alcohol sales. We had a thirsty group that only had 1 drink each. What a shame.

Delicious Hawaiian themed brunch with a spectacular view of the ocean. I did notice a sign saying they are doing some renovations which is good because the place does seem to need some updating. The only complaint is we said we wanted lunch but were told they only serve brunch buffet on Sunday. After we finished we noticed there was the option to go into the bar and order off the lunch menu. It would have been nice if we'd been told of this option after saying we wanted lunch.

I was visiting California from Canada with my 12 year old son. The car rental employee at Enterprise in Anaheim recommended your restaurant and we certainly were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was marvelous. Thank you and hope to be back!
Dining at Its Best
We always enjoy the friendly, welcoming staff. The presentations of the steaks and seafood selection are top notch. The bread is so good. We look forward to celebrating special occasions and to trying more of the fish entrees. Our suggestion is that Duke's will reward us with specials to receive by e-mail.
great views, cool ambiance
This place has great views and a really cool ambiance. They accommodated us as a big party for Sunday brunch, which is a very busy time. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The food for brunch is commendable although not outstanding. You really are there for the scenic setting and atmosphere.
We really enjoyed our meal at Dukes, early on a Saturday evening. Food was good and plentiful, the roast chicken main was particularly great. Amazing views and attentive and swift service. The barefoot bar has some interesting beers on tap and was a good for a pre-dinner drink. Valet parking which makes the whole experience very easy. Recommended.

Overrated! Nice View, Bad Food!
My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We are from Orange County and had troubles getting into a couple other scenic restaurants in Malibu. We were VERY disappointed in the quality of food, especially for the price. I ordered Mahi with pineapple relish and the fish was so overlooked and very bland. They give you a tiny spoonful of relish so I asked for a side of it just to give the fish some flavor. My jasmine rice was crunchy and stuck together, like it had been cooked hours before. Not what I expected from a $29 dish. My husband ordered the fish cooked in a banana leaf and it did have a lot more flavor but the piece of fish they gave him was so small, about the amount you would expect in a fish taco. I honestly feel that I cook better mahi at home! I was also not expecting so many kids and babies at the restaurant on a Saturday night. Don't get me wrong, I like children but there were no joke 15 different parties of rowdy kids in just the room we were in. If you are looking for a romantic dinner spot in Malibu, without your kids definitely skip this place! This restaurant is so overrated, reminded me of dining at the Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse ... Bleh!
It was okay..
Valet is $6, which i was not expecting... But loved our waiter. Food was great in the moment, i got a cheeseburger, but five hours later i got food poisoning! After 3 days, i still have food poisoning. Thank you.

First, the view is amazing. Right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean with a clear view of Catalina Island is gorgeous. Not a bad seat in the house. Second, the food and drinks are outstanding. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Malibu.
The food was good; but not as good as the location in Hawaii. The staff was attentive and accommodating, and of course, the view of the Pacific Ocean is top notch; cannot get any better. Try the wontons.
Not sure why you can't order Nachos in the restaurant but you can in the bar

Def recommend!! Best calamari I've had in a long time. Excellent crab and lobster... The cocktails weren't great but loved everything else about the resistant. Server was great too!
Please serve chicken breasts for Hulu chicken
Been going to Dukes for many years, but for brunch, they serve Hulu chicken, which appears to be the leg meat with stringy fat and other binding thingies that chicken legs have around them. Need more breast meat, or ridding the chicken of this stuff before cooking/serving it. They don't need to be full breasts, these can be cut into smaller servings.

Delicious jidori chicken prepared perfectly. Topped with a perfect view of the ocean and washed down with a lava flow cocktail that wasn't to sweet. Thanks again for an amazing time we will be back soon

Great service and food a to die for view! We stopped here for dinner on our way to Thousand Oaks for a show. Perfect halfway point!
Incomparable view and very fresh food.
Incomparable view and very fresh food.
Duke's service and excellent food has made it one of our favorite places to dine. The presentation and quality of the food was amazing.
Great View but Disappointing Buffet Fare
There is no doubt that this is one of the great views on the Southern California Coast. So we keep tyring it every year or so. While the staff is super pleasant, the food at the Sunday Buffet brunch is mediocre at best. The baked ham is of the packaged kind with little water bubbles in it. The scrambled eggs were tasteless. Lots of items which were unidentifiable without the placecard. This could be a fabulous restaurant overlooking a heavenly view. Hopefully they will try harder.
Why so many service woes ?
In our second trip in three months we were disappointed equally with extremely poor and inattentive service. The food when he finally does arrive is delicious but we felt captive by a non-attending waiter and were left waiting 20 minutes just for a menu 20 minutes again for drinks etc. on both this it's one dinner was left out of the order and was only served once we had all completed our food. Extremely disappointing as the location is perfect and we hoped to make it our go to celebration destination.
One of our favorite spots!
We went for an early (5:00) anniversary dinner with 2 other people. We were seated promptly, and got a window seat, which we love. Our server, Trevor, was excellent, as he was the last time we had brunch there. Please give him our thanks. Food was delicious, as we have always found it to be. We will be back - probably again and again.
Just ok food, but great service.
Pecan crusted opa was not flavorful. The bok choy slaw was not good and neither was the rice. The "crab Rangoon" appetizer was good. My husband did like the Ahi Tuna. Service was great though.
nice place to meet
met an old friend and the location and view are the stars. the food was not quite as good as it might be for the price.
3rd or 4th time and it was as expected 4.5 star and great value. Our server was excellent and the view of the ocean rewarding. Keep it up but go back to cross cross fries!
Great food, service and ambiance!
My husband and I wanted a new place to eat by the beach so we thought we'd try Duke's. We will be back! Everything was amazing; the fish we ordered, the bread with salted butter, the delicious mud pie and our waiter was the best! Thanks for a great first experience to your restaurant.
Much better food options elsewhere
I was unable to get a reservation at my restaurant of choice, so I chose what I thought would be the next best option for food and I was sorely mistaken. My parents and I usually meet in Malibu for dinner because it is a halfway point for both of us and have tried most restaurants in town. With that being said, we were extremely disappointed with the Duke's Malibu location (for reference we've tried the Duke's in Huntington Beach, Ca with no issues). Every dish I encountered was extremely subpar and I actually sent back my caesar salad, which is something I've never done. For location this Duke's is awful especially considering its potential.
