Copper Chimney - Hotel Le Soleil Ratings and Reviews

We had the short ribs, butter chicken and chicken tikka. All were prepared well and very delicious. A bottle of burrowing owl Pinot noir was also enjoyed. Great service, attentive and helpful.

we have not spent very much time in Vancouver and tried this restaurant because of the very positive ratings they were given by other customers. it was noted that one of the reasons that the ratings were maybe not 4.5 or 5 was because some people were a little bit unhappy with the takeout service. we went in on a Sunday night and we were seated promptly and it was fairly empty to be honest. we each had an entrée and an appetizer and a cocktail and including tip spent less than $80 American. and the food was superb. All of it was great but some of the highlights were the lamb meatball sliders and the chicken Tikka and the Tandoori chicken and tandoori salmon and the bread basket is a must.
New indian food restaurant must try.
Like the Tandoori Chicken main course and in-house made naan. When back downtown again, if feel like having indian food, this is the place.
I love this place. The service is excellent and the menu very interesting--in a GOOD way.

Everything about this meal was outstanding. The food was excellent, the portions perfect, the service efficient and not intrusive. We will definitely return for another meal! The ambience was wonderful.
I would definitely recommend Copper Chimney! The service was amazing, the food very very tasty and the price is fair. Wines were a bit overpriced, but the overall experience was excellent.
Lovely dining experience in every way!
The food was excellent and our server guided us to make order decisions based on flavours and portion sizes which worked out perfectly. Menu, food quality and presentation were first class. The wine by the glass menu was not extensive but well chosen to pair with the food. It's a good idea to consult with you server on portion sizes as some may be larger than expected.
a bit disappointed with the food, small portions
The dine out special was a disappointment because it had small portions which we did not mind if it had a nice presentation, but the plate was empty, you had to order veggies and other side dishes for additional $ and even the bread had to be ordered separately and it costs so much. The drinks were also overpriced. We left unsatisfied with our dinner and our bill came to $50 each person with nothing to brag about. We will definitely not recommend this place nor come back on any regular dining.

I was disappointed with the dine out menu, the quantity and quality of food. I would not go back to this restraunt. Very disappointing and not worth $30
The food here is delicious. the waiter was excellent and he made some excellent suggestions. The roasted brussel sprouts are definitely a side dish to order
Most of my experience eating Indian food has been in take-away joints. Places with all you can eat lunch specials. Bollywood films playing on the TV. This place is classy. They had a guitarist playing jazz favourites. I remember eating here for lunch and I swear they had table cloths, but not that night. We got put behind a column and my date hated that. Service was good enough. The noise was loud as people talked over the guitar. Not cactus club loud. But loud in a small room. The food was good but rather expensive. The creme brulee excellent. Nice, but not a hit with my date, so I probably won't be back for dinner.

The service was fabulous, but the food portions are quite small and it's overpriced. And not everything we ordered tasted good. The lamb biryani was delicious, but the crab and potato cake appetizer was far too greasy. The naan was $7 and again, very greasy and chewy!
Dining out in Vancouver - Not Here
Sorry to say our experience as part of Dine out in Vancouver, very disappointed in the appetizer (not good), entree and dessert chosen by the restaurant ... if this was the example of what to expect, they would see us again and be recommended.. We love Indian food but recommending this to our friends for last Friday night was a Big mistake...
Dine Out Vancouver
First off my boyfriend and I made a reservation for 9:30pm and unfortunately we're running behind. We called to let the restaurant know and even though last call for food was at 9:45, they were more then accommodating. Our server Guillaume was a delight, he was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. He brought each dish to us in perfect sequence, an d described each one as he placed them down in front of us. Our drinks were never empty and he was very attentive. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant were outstanding as well. I would definitely recommend and return!

Christmas Dinner Expectation Disappointment
The promo of a spicy turkey christmas dinner helped us decide to try the Copper Chimney. We knew ahead of time that this was an Indian fusion restaurant so were enticed by the idea of Indian spices with tradition turkey. Unfortunately we were disappointed: the spices where so mild that our tastebuds barely made a tremor. On top of that our meal was room temperature, not the way to have turkey unless you're at home and too lazy to pop it into the microwave. Okay got the negative out of the way, now to the positives. Overall the turkey dinner did have flavour, just wish there was more! We did order a few sides: Palak Paneer Sautéed Spinach & Sambal Green Beans which came warm and had the flavour and spice we were looking forward to (unfortunately they arrived when we were almost finished with our main course). The service by Leticia was charming and friendly and did enjoy her recommendation of the Alize'. The eggnog cheesecake was quite good and there was no skimping on the eggnog flavour. The ambiance of the space was enjoyable - not too noisy and for more couples-type intimacy get the tables on the upstairs balcony. The main wall that is framed by the staircase was quite interesting to look at and added to the ambiance. If your visiting Vancouver or overnighting from the burbs the Hotel Le Soleil is quite convenient. As indicated we were disappointed in the Christmas dinner but will go back to try the regular menu.
Expensive Christmas Menu
Had the 2015 Christmas Dinner Menu consisting of: Appetizer (Butternut Squash) - poorly to averagely done Main (Turkey + Mash Potatoes + Long Beans + Chutney) - alright but too little for the price Dessert (Eggnog Cheesecake) - Highlight of the menu. Due to average tasting appetizer and main course, the dessert took the highlights of the meal. The restaurant itself looks nice + nice ambiance. Overall Rating: 3/5
Although it was quiet, elegant dinner, the food arrived cold. This was no doubt due to a set Christmas menu and a very busy time. Thoroughly enjoyed the lovely ambiance, excellent service and the musician was really, really good.
Horrible Christmas Prix Fix Menu
My Husband and I went to the Copper Chimney with great anticipation of celebrating not only Christmas but also our Anniversary. We had seen the Christmas Menu online and it sounded wonderful. However, for $45.00 per person we got: turkey roll, 5 under-cooked vegetables, horrible mashed potatoes, a smear of cranberry chutney and a very tiny round slice of what I believe was stuffing. Awful, we will not go back nor recommend this meal to any of our friends both in BC and the Mainland.
TV--big no-no! Loud Music in the background-another no-no. Narrow entrance with chairs blocking entrance??

We got a great seat. Weren't served for quite a while. The restaurant set up and ambiance is nice. Portions are really small (I'm sure they could have spared some more rice???) and I think $22 is too much for a lunch meal of butter chicken.
Great for a business lunch
Great atmosphere for a business lunch. You can actually have a meeting and hear each other. Service is great, the fact that the food is great too make is all a very pleasant place to take your business partners to.
It's on our short list with every trip to Vancouver. Every dish thus far bursting with flavor. A full bar and hearth-like astmoshere. Good for foodies, good for business meals, and families.
Great Indian food in downtown Vancouver
Interesting takes on classic Indian favorites. Nice inside with a lot of wood paneling. Food came out quickly and presented well. We enjoyed the Shrimp Tandoori and Lamb Meatballs with potato pasta.
The food was delicious. Delicious. We wanted to try everything. Great place for a date night or a small family celebration, (would be a good place to bring clients). It was busy and the service was a bit slow, but there wasnt any hurry. My only note would be that the wine list was too pricey. We will absolutely go back.
Indian fusion is rare so this a great find in a quiet downtown hotel. There are standard northern Indian specialties, but the fusion dishes are the real attraction. If you like lamb curries this place is for you.
We went for an early dinner, and the smallness of the restaurant surprised us. Looks like an extension of a bar, and this subdued our expectations from those set by past reviews. But once we were seated and the hostess took control, an amazing, satisfying experience unfolded. The food was good, the wine ok, but it was the service that made all the difference. Pleasant and present when needed without being intrusive, and full of helpful and useful suggestions without any sense of imposition. It felt just like home.
I have dined at the Copper Chimney several times now and have tried a different dish each time. The variety of spices and ingredients is quite amazing. Not what you would expect from an Indian restaurant. Koodos to the chefs for creating such a diversified menu.
Aewsome Hidden Gem
Vancouver Copper Chimney is a gem next to the Hotel Le Soleil. I Ordered a vegetarian Indian dish which was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection with a variety of vegetables. My husband ordered a salmon entree which he gave the same rave review. Our waiter was friendly and professional, easily answering our menu questions. I have a shellfish allergy, and this was not a problem for them. Restaurant walls are unique, very relaxing atmosphere, restaurant seating is very comfortable . Bar area also very inviting and comfortable.
Dinner at the Copper Chimney
Had read and heard mixed reviews about this place but my girlfriend and I were looking for Indian food nearby and found the Copper Chimney. With the decor and prices, this place attempts to do slightly upscale Indian fusion. The place was deathly quiet with no vibe even though there was a decent number of seated guests on a Sunday evening. We weren't starving so we skipped the appetizers and ordered two mains. We ordered the sablefish and the braised short ribs. I must say the food was underwhelming. The sablefish was definitely off, it was previously frozen as it didn't have that luscious buttery texture and flavour. Essentially, the fish was moderately mushy. The bed of couscous it was perched upon was OK, nothing special, and lacking in flavour. I was surprised to find the short rib to be dry. Such a fatty cut of meat braised in liquid shouldnt ever be dry but somehow they managed to make it dry. The short rib was served with sambal green beans and some underseasoned mashed potatoes. At $26 and $24 for the sablefish and short rib respectively, you expect the food to be at least decent. I'd rate the food alone about a 5.5/10 but after factoring in the prices the score drops to a 4. Service was unobtrusive and slightly inattentive. I had to look around and attempt to make eye contact for about 15 minutes before I could find my server to clear our table and bring the bill. We had originally planned on having dessert but dinner was so wildly mediocre that we decided to skip it, pay, and go. It seems others have had better experiences during happy hour but unfortunately I won't be back to give it a try.
this is a great spot
I have taken cleints here, met friends and recommended the copper chimney. It is a great - and hidden -- gem
Overall experience was ok
Food was good, its Fusion Indian, although it took a long time to be served. They could try and have more of the authentic Indian food and more variety.

The lamb lollipops were amazing!! Never fails to satiate.
Great food, great service. 3rd time back with guests for lunch, and they consistently produce quality dishes.
Great place to get lost with your best friends...
The relaxed feel of this place – quiet and warm like the most comfortable lounges - is a great venue for catching up with dear friends while ending a sumtuous Indian fusion dinner. I will definitely keep returning to try more dishes in addition to my standard repertoire. The Garam Masala Steak Naan Flatbread appetizer was an amazing precursor to an outstanding dinner including Lamb Lollipops. The CC 1⁄2 Tandoori Chicken and Butter Chicken dinners also got standouts raves from my friends. The service was attentive and well-timed; yet, not overbearing with friendly staff seemingly fondly recalling your last visit from many moons ago. The live entertainment wasn't intrusive and added to the overall ambience on a cool rainy spring evening.
I eally enjoy this restaurant. The food is very good and there is a really varied selection and choice. I especially like the room between tables - there is privacy and you don't have to listen to the people next to you.
Good food but very small portions
The restaurant is lovely and the location great. The food is pretty good but the actually quantify of the main part (curry beef) is quite small, mostly sauce with only a couple pieces of actual meat. Would I return again? Yes because it is tasty but I always leave feeling the restaurant got a better deal than I did.
