Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
If last nights dinner experience at Cooper's Hawk would have been our first we would probably not return again. We were seated in the back dining room, it was very loud, and the food was average. Our service was very poor, dinner came with items missing, and the server never checked back with us after our meals were served. We had to ask another waiter to find our waiter to pay our bill. It took over 10 minutes for the server to finally pick up the bill from our table. This was especially disappointing since we are wine club members and we came with another couple after telling them how wonderful Cooper's Hawk has always been in the past.
After a poor experience the last visit, this was MUCH better. Great server. Good food Pricing alittle rich for what you get. But overall, we a good experience

The food at Cooper's Hawk is delicious. A must have is the Mexican drunken shrimp as an appetizer. Make sure to save some pretzel bread to clean up the extra lime butter sauce.

We ate in the bar area with a full menu. Service and food was great, but if you want less noise, go to the dinning room.

Love the tasting room
We became wine club members and always look forward to our monthly wine tastings. It makes a great "date night" to look forward to every month. Happy that they are now offering an additional vegetarian entrée!
I ordered fish tacos. They were cold and stale Would not recommend. Wife's food was fine, a burger

Great time at Cooper's Hawk. The food was excellent and everyone at our table was pleased.
Where do I begin?
I would like to begin with saying that this place was a huge let down. My fiance' drove 5 hours to come see me here in Indy where we chose to eat at Cooper's Hawk because of the great reviews it had. For three weeks straight she's been going on about the reviews. Need less to say I think these are forged because what we experienced didn't live up to that in the least bit. Immediately upon arrival I could tell we were in it from the way the staff stared at us. I'm not implying that this place has anything against interracial couples, but they should definitely keep their personal opinions at home. When dining at a place like this one should feel at home and special. We felt the opposite. The waiting staff was rude. The curly haired guy who brought our food to the table literally almost threw of plates at us. Our server Katie took our orders and pretty much turned into Houdini because I didn't see her again until the check came. She seemed as if she didn't want to be there and honestly I couldn't blame her after how awkward she made the experience. I won't be back to this establishment.

Went at a very busy time Friday 7pm. However we were seated quickly. With reservations. I was totally pleased with service and food in such a pack house. On the top of my return list. A#1
Fun Wine Bar
When I need to meet friends for wine on the northside I immediately think of Cooper's Hawk, especially in nice weather, as the patio is great, good wine selection, and yummy food.

Very good food. The service was excellent. Definitely a place I would go to again.
We selected Cooper's Hawk for a date night. (Which is few and far between when you have kids.) The service was terrible. We waited over 30 minutes for salad. We ordered some drinks only to find out that the bar ran out of the selected drink of our choice . Our steaks weren't cooked correctly. Very disappointed in our dining experience.

Wonderful experience. Will definitely return soon.
Excellent food/wine, but frenetic on the weekend
Tried Cooper's Hawk on a Saturday night after a very good experience for a weekday lunch. The reception area and tasting room were packed and noisy. Server was friendly and helpful. Appetizers were quite good (traditional bruschetta and "southwest eggrolls). My dining partner gave a thumbs up to the nut-crusted grouper. I was disappointed in the grilled shrimp (overcooked) and polenta (too much cheese). There was a large party close to us with people jumping up and roaming between tables. Would certainly recommend for good service, food, and wine, but unless you are looking for a party-atmosphere, avoid Saturday night.
Great for "special occasion"
This our first visit. We had no idea what to expect. Great menu options. Wide variety of beverage options. Attentive, friendly server. Beautiful food presentation. Husband ordered a steak and did not expect to receive what appeared to be about 4 oz of already cut meat. We were expecting a whole steak. Overall, great experience. Great for a "special occasion". Due to the price, we are not likely to return soon or often.
As always the food and service were awesome.
Their filet mignon is as good as any in the Indianapolis area and at a very affordable price. My date had the salmon and said it was fabulous. We shared their banana bread ice cream sundae for dessert and it too is one of my favorites anywhere in the area. Our server was top notch as is the norm for Coopers Hawk. The only small complaint was the annoyance of gnats flying around us during our meal. This is the first time I have ever encountered ANY issue at this restaurant but it was definitely annoying.
One thing I love about this location of Coopers Hawk. They are dependable. I've been to other locations and not so much. But this Indianapolis location is Great. I was terribly late for my reservation but they quickly seated us all and lunch was perfect. I love the Ahi Tuna. Awesome! Service is attentive but not overbearing. Great business lunch.

The food options are great but the wind is phenomenal.
Can never go wrong at Cooper's Hawk. My steak was prepared perfectly and the wine was delicious!
Apparently Married! 😉
Well, a good friend and I met for dinner here at her request. We both like wine and I had no idea of how good the selection was, nor how affordable the bottles were. We really enjoyed the samples and ended up joining the wine club before the evening was over. Membership "has its privileges", and, as she didn't want to miss out, listed herself as my spouse to get her birthday gift later this year! 😉 Amber, our server, was so patient with us while we surveyed the menu and even entertained us with a couple fun stories. The food was much above average, which left us eager to return next month for our next rendezvous. Quite a nice experience!
Southern Shrimp & polenta was amazing!

Great People and Great Food
While we all know that Coopers Hawk has great food and great wine, it is the service and staff that make all the difference. We have eaten at quite a few Coopers Hawk restaurant and find the Indianapolis location to be welcoming and warm. We have been there on a number of occasions and haven't had anything but an excellent experience. Kudos to the staff and thank you for a great experience.
Quality of service declining
Went to Coppers Hawk last sunday for my birthday. Went church first and was running late our scheduled time. We called to ask if we could push up our time by 15-20mins the reservation lady said no. We got there and the place wasn't even busy. Several empty tables that never got occupied our whole visit. Then we hostesses seemed to be having an inside joke that we weren't in on. They may been laughing at us, for whatever reason, but perception is everything. Then our server was more argumentative than informative when it came to the menu. We asked about a certain flight we had when we came for my aunts birthday. She's like we've never served anything like that here. We are like well we have pictures to prove. And all of that stemmed asking do you guys still serve such and such. A polite no that's off the menu now would have sufficed. Then my steak was over done after asking for it medium rare. Didn't complain about it coz the server wasn't the most friendly. It was just an uncomfortable trip. Hope they fix their customer service
Changes are disappointing
It looks like the menu has changed, and that includes some of my favorites. I was really looking forward to the Gnocchi Bolognese, but it was really bland. The BEST part about Cooper's Hawks was the banana ice cream sandwich dessert, and it looks like they have gotten lazy with how they changed it. Super disappointing.
Food was excellent. Wait to get it...too long!
Food was excellent, but the wait after ordering was extremely long.
As good as ever
My wife and I had been regulars but had not been for over a year. It was as enjoyable an experience as ever. The food was excellent as usual, portions generous, wait staff prompt and friendly. The friends that accompanied us had never been before and were favorably impressed. This remains one of our favorites.
We had a 1:00 lunch on Easter Sunday. It was very busy and there were a few minor issues, but our server did a fantastic job. We had great food and will keep coming back.
Great date night
We are members of the wine club, so we usually use that as our excuse for a "date night". I'm SOOO Happy to see you have another vegetarian entrée option--THANK YOU!!!!
Great Food! Little Noisy
Great food. Our server was very nice and on top of it. Restaurant was packed. Food was great. Very well prepared and presented. We were there on Saturday night and it was loud. Sat in back room. Acoustics could be better. I have been to this restaurant at lunch and sat in other rooms. It was much lower noise level. Overall impressed with food and service. Good for going out with a group or large family. Back room had tables packed in pretty tight.
very pleasant evening. Wine is not very robust.
Waitress could have been friendlier. The food was great and service was prompt though.
Great Food and Wine
I love this restaurant and the great variety of awesome food. My favorite wine is their unbaked Chardonnay. The only issue is with the wine bar up front, it gets very crowded and there is usually a wait. Other than that, it's a great place to dine.
Good for couples
We had an adult night out and we decided to wine and dine at Coopers Hawk. We were seated fairly quick. Our server seemed highly distracted. THe food is high priced and the portions are fairly small. However, what we did consume was tasteful.
The food was absolutely wonderful!
This was our first time and we will definitely go back! I'm vegetarian and they even offered to make one of their dishes specific for my needs. Exceptional!
Great place to dine
This was the first time we have been to the Indy restaurant, I will say that I like the Burr Ridge Restaurant a little better, but it was still great. We tried there bloody Mary's for the first time and they were excellent. The wine as always was very good. I was pleased to see that they had a nice selection in their gift area, something that Burr Ridge has gotten away from. I spent almost as much taking things home as we did on dinner. The winter white candle is excellent, I wish i had bought a few more. We look forward to going again, I hope they come closer to Fort Wayne someday.

Outstanding service and outstanding food. My girlfriend and I both ending up signing up for wine club memberships as well.
Great Service, food, and wine!
We had a great time at Coopers Hawk- food was great , wine was good, can't say that we thought it was equitable to the price. Considering our waitress was competing with the IU game, Shae did a great job.
First time at restaurant
Tried out the restaurant during Devour North Side. Nice place. EXTREMELY loud and hard to have a conversation with those at our table. Bruschetta was tasty but bread was VERY soggy! Other diners at my table loved their salmon. I had bucatinni & meatballs. Meatballs were very good - but overall, not enough sauce on pasta. S'more dessert was hard to eat because graham cracker crust was on top and too think & hard to easily break through - 2 diners at our table were disappointed with this choice for their dessert and barely ate any of it. Chocolate cake was good! Wine was good!! Serving sizes were VERY generous!
