Not impressed

Dined on April 24, 2016

My wife and I were staying at the Golden Plough on Sunday night but arrived early to take in Pedddler's Village so we chose to attend your Sunday brunch. We were not impressed. It was pretty standard and none of the selections stood out. We have been to many brunches in the NY area that offered more variety for the same price or less, including a mimosa or Bloody Mary, some as low as $15. Additionally we waited nearly 10 min to receive our check after asking twice. To be clear we are only commenting on the brunch. We ate at other venues for our other meals. We may eat here in the future but it won't be the brunch.

This restaurant is one of my favorites!

Dined on April 23, 2016

One time, they had these amazing bleu cheese mashed potatoes on the menu. THE BEST POTATOES I'VE EVER HAD! We recently returned, I requested them if it were possible to make since it was not on the menu. Our wonderful waitress asked the chef, and was able to prepare them special! I had the Duck Duet with the potatoes and grilled Asparagus. The entire meal was amazing. One of the most satisfying meals I've ever had! Always a wonderful experience!

Prime Rib dinner

Dined on April 16, 2016

We've eaten here before. Usually Sunday brunch which is amazing. This time we went for dinner. We both had Prime Rib this time which was very good, but we've had better at a much higher price. You get what you pay for, but we have always enjoyed our meals here. Our waitress was great.

Disappointed!

Dined on April 2, 2016

We have eaten here many times and have usually been satisfied. On this occasion, however, my dinner was pretty awful. I ordered the crab cakes, one of the pricier items on the menu. They were dried out, hard as rocks, and essentially tasteless. It will be a while before we return, with the memory of that meal fresh in my mind.

Not worth it.

Dined on March 27, 2016

Waited 45 minutes to get seated, had a reservation. We were put into a tiny room with 5 or 6 tables all squeezed in. Very noisy. No ambience at all. Prime rib inedible. Mashed potatoes cold. Sparse desserts. Certainly not worth $34.95 per person!

Overall very disappointing.

Dined on March 27, 2016

The server was fine and doing her best but the front reception people were apparently overwhelmed and in disorder. No leadership was present The food was cold and the meat portions were meager if not insulting. We've been guest many times before but not on Easter Sunday. It was chaotic and lacked management presence everywhere.

This is a nice place with a varied menu. Well run and very nice staff. It is very comfortable to dine here. Nice lighting, nice temperature and good food. This is not high end eating by any measure but a nice place for an enjoyable dinner or lunch.

First timers for Sunday Brunch.

Dined on March 27, 2016

I was surprised to find the large variety of tasty foods. Having elderly persons with us, it would have been better closer to the buffet instead of the greatest distance away. Seating was unorganized. At the reception area, the gentleman told us to go upstairs & give our name, when we followed his direction, the lady upstairs said he did not tell us to do so. I asked her to join me in conversation with the host to validate my statement. She declined.

Disappointing

Dined on March 6, 2016

My husband ordered the pork which was so overcooked & dry. I cannot believe this is what they serve. I ordered the steak, it wasn't terrible but for $29 was bland & overpriced. I ordered a specialty cocktail off the menu which was extremely sweet. I mentioned to the waitress & she said she would ask to have it made less sweet. The second one was better but as with the first tasted like a kiddie drink lacked any alcohol for $10. The homemade strudel was good, but other restaurants in the village have the same exact dessert menu. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant. If I had to go back I'd order a burger. The bill with tip came to $129 for 2 people. I felt ripped off.

Great food andt the right price!!

Dined on February 28, 2016

Great dining experience for the price. Without exception, the items served were all very good along with a nice variety. The deserts were especially good! Finally, the setting was great. The day was nice (warm and sunny) and we had a window table..... very relaxing and was a wonderful compliment to the food. Servers were very good and did not rush us at all. I would go back again and very soon!

I loved bunch! My husband was disappointed that there was not much variety of sea food. My little girl was sad there were no chicken tenders. I thought the food was great. Our waiter was very nice. It would be nice to have a few more child friendly choices (who doesn't love finger food?).

Great atmosphere and ambience

Dined on February 18, 2016

From the moment we walked in the front door we were treated like old friends. The wait staff was friendly, funny and attentive. One small slip up with the dinner did occur but it was rectified in a fast and efficient manner and the entire staff could not have been more apologetic. A definite place to return to time and time again!

Dined on February 15, 2016

Food was amazing as usual. My husband got the chicken pot pie which he has had before and always enjoys. The beef burgandy was out of this world! However, it could have used a vegetable/potato side. Next time I will order something on the side. Cheesecake was very good too.

Good service, ok food.

Dined on February 13, 2016

Soup came out cold. We didn't even get a chance to finish the soups and our appetizer as the main courses came out a few minches after them. I had the prime rib and my wife had a surf and turf. For $29 I expected a much better prime rib, but it was not great quality, both in taste and looks. My wife's lobster came out cut up in little cubes. Strange as I thought it should have come out still on the tail. Overall the service was pretty good, our waiter did apologize for the timing of the main courses, but the food was sub par. I would not recommend this place to friends.

Keep on Peddling

Dined on February 6, 2016

We just returned from a weekend getaway at Peddler's Village. We were looking for a convenient place to eat and this was across the street from our room and we were tired from the drive. The restaurant has a limited menu and the server was not very familiar with it. It was certainly not an elegant menu so he should have been more aware of the menu items. He was very gracious and attentive so I had no problem with him. I had a green apple salad with the poorest excuse for apples that were limp and the rest of the salad might as well have been. My wife had a beef barley soup that was quite good. She had a chicken pot "pye" that was ordinary. I had something called "airline" chicken that tasted as good as airline food. It was a dry Frenched chicken breast with a disgusting syrupy teriyaki sauce. I will admit that the grits it was served on and the sautéed veggies were delicious. The wine list was small but adequate. There are many other places to eat in the area. Look elsewhere.

Disappointed

Dined on January 3, 2016

some of the samplings were good, spätzle was disappointing and food was nothing like authentic German food. Winterfest Bavarian was overpriced compared to serving since it was self serve and those of us with later reservations were getting what was left.... We ate with two couples and we agreed it was like crashing a wedding that didn't happen.... Do not recommend as a single couple unless you enjoy events where you don't know anyone else.. Tables were for 10 not for 2 as reservation was booked. Also, disorganized setup....

A Pleasant Return

Dined on January 2, 2016

Our group had an enjoyable experience, good food at a reasonable price, and the beautiful Christmas ambience. After a disappointing meal two years ago, we decided to give it another try, and we were rewarded.

Underwhelmed

Dined on December 29, 2015

The food was adequate though pricy. The service was very good. Our table was in a poor, undesirable location near the stairs with a continual cold draft. There was a lot of commotion on that stairway throughout the meal and we could not enjoy the holiday scenic view out the windows in other parts of the restaurant. We did not understand why there were so many people made to wait in the foyer all evening when there were several empty tables during the 2 hours we were there. We have dined here many times over the years. The Though quaint, I will likely not choose this venue next year for our holiday outing with friends.

Delicious Food, Great Setting

Dined on December 28, 2015

I made reservations the night before for dinner which was good because there were a lot of people trying to get in after a day of shopping at Peddlers Village. The service was timely and the food was excellent. The menu was a bit limited, but offered enough choices to satisfy most. Our waitress forgot to put in our second drink order, but comped us for the delay. (She was obviously running between tables, keeping everyone satisfied.) All of the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back again and highly recommend this place for dinner.

Dined on December 28, 2015

We had reservations for 4pm but were not seated until 445pm after numerous requests to the surly hostess. When I insisted on seeing a manager we were seated. Many other guests were irate. The Hostess requires Customer Service training. She was nasty, loud and unapologetic. The waiter was excellent. The food fair. My $30 entree arrived cold and the veal was tough. Others in the party enjoyed their potpies. The salads were good.

Very slow service!

Dined on December 27, 2015

Reservation at 8PM. Took 90+ minutes for dinner for 3. This isn't a formal resturant - just bad service. I don't know if they were tired from an earlier rush...but everything took too long. App took over 20 mins...then dinner another 20+. Water - took 3 times to ask for it. Their idea of "bread and rolls" was 3 pieces of corn bread.

Dined on December 23, 2015

Had an incredibly awkward table location for dinner, even with a reservation. Our table was off to the side in the main dining area, yet very much in the way of anyone that walked by. Staff wasn't sure who was covering our table which lead to poor service. Perhaps because of the holiday rush. Food was great though!
