Our waiter (think it was Ahmid?) was wonderful. Very personable and attentive.

Great food ! Was very noisy.
the service was great---the food was good even though one of us didn't get what we ordered but the noise level was so bad that the four of us could barely carry on a conversation.
Our date night dinner was absolutely delicious. I won a gift card from work and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience.
Decided to grab dinner with my daughter. Had a great meal with great service. Will come back again.
Wish we had eaten outdoors, but ate well
Indoor seating was dark and noisy making communication exhausting. Food was really tasty and healthy: great mussels, salads, mains. Great value on Wednesday with half-off glasses of wine.

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner. Never disappointed. Service from bar might be slow but all meals came with just a short wait. The specials for the day have always been outstanding. Worth a try. Despite being noisy, the is an excellent restaurant.
Really a neighborhood treasure. Fantastic Food!
This is a great spot in Chapel Hill, that is fun and has great tables for a family dinner as well as a fun bar with good selections. The food is outstanding and the service gracious. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere and delicious food.
This was a fantastic choice for our Easter brunch.
We have been to Mother's day brunch in the past and was excited to come back. The salads were amazing. However, the meat selection was a little disapointing. We look forward to returning!
Great for veggies for Easter Brunch Lots of other tasty dishes to eat for breakfast or lunch as well
Disappointed with dinner
We were disappointed with the dinner menu, food, and prices. We had a good experience there at lunch but wouldn't return or recommend for dinner.

Didn't realize no sushi served on a Sunday night. Was difficult to find Gluten Free and Vegan choices. Average tasting swordfish special, even with the mango salsa...just not exciting flavors. Waiter forgot to bring apprentices we ordered and didn't check in much, despite it not being crowded. Have been here twice before (and have loved it) when visiting kids in college, but a little disappointed this time unfortunately.

We were passing through town and sought out City Kitchen - we were not disappointed. Great venue and well thought out decor and artwork. Broad menu, but well planned. Fantastic choice of wine and beers, supported by well executed food (good portion size as well) If we lived in this town, it would be a regular go to spot.

Good menu but not well executed. Short ribs good but mashed potato accompaniment cold. Duck confit pot pie a nice idea but the reality was soggy crust, light on duck but heavy on celery, bland flavor. Because of low quality of food it became a very overpriced meal i.e. Not worth it.
Wonderful lunch experience
The food was delicious and had enough variety for light eaters as well as those with hearty appetites. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, personable and gave excellent recommendations.
Outstanding short ribs!
We had a great experience at City Kitchen! It was a busy Saturday night, but I was able to make reservations the day before for 4 people. We had excellent food (the short ribs were AMAZING!!) and the service was fine. We did feel that the the server was rushing us a little, continually asking if he could remove plates while people were still eating, but overall it was great!

Awesome place will continue to visit
The restaurant was quiet at 11:00, but the scene began to liven up around 12:15. I have eaten at City Kitchen several times and their food this visit did not disappoint. Great menu options and dependable waitstaff.
The City Kitchen was superb. I was so impressed to find this was so cool inside as it is in a shopping center and was not expecting it. The decor is fabulous and the staff is friendly, courteous. They were also very knowledgeable about the food. And the chef worked with my demands as I needed some menu items exchanged due to diet restrictions. I just really had a great experience and found this restaurant a fun place to be. The items on the menu are not so many that you can't figure anything out. I like not being overwhelmed and they had a fantastic looking sushi menu which we did not partake of since we had all just had sushi in the past week but watching the plates go by was making me wish I had not just eaten it.

The food is good, but not mind-blowing. The service can be a little slow if they are busy. Good for groups. This place as a great, open air space. However, it can be a bit loud and impersonal at times.

Service was ok. We ordered the slow braised ribs upon recommendation of our waiter. They were so fatty they were inedible. Worst Ceasar salad we have ever had too. $250 for dinner and it was a nightmare . We will never return
Amazing food and great service.
Perfect for a romantic date night or out with friends. Second floor dining is a fun experience, especially when it overlooks the dining area. Great restaurant!
What a wonderful place for not only a romantic dinner but for a great night on the town. food was wonderful and everyone working made it a great experience. We will be going back sooner then later for another wonderful time.

Went for brunch on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. Perfect environment for a laid back, yet energetic vibe. Didn't feel like we were in Chapel hill at all. Bottomless mimosas were a plus too! Can't wait to go back. Food was amazing.

Busy night handled well
Made a last minute Open Table reservation the night before Valentines Day. The place was very busy at 8pm and we were told our 8:15 OT spot would be a few minutes late. We found a spot to sit and enjoy a drink while we waited. Got our table by 8:40. Our server was very pleasant and advised that the kitchen was backed up when we quickly placed our meal orders. Having sat near the wood oven, we knew the pizzas would likely be faster, so we ordered 2 pizzas. Our drinks came quickly (we and the server were pleased by that!) then our pizzas came in a few minutes as well. The adjacent table, there before us, had only just received their appetizers. Our attitude, their attitude and the great attitude of the server combined for all of us to have good time even with the expected wait and delays (for the other table). It was obvious from the host desk to the server that the staff are well trained and understood that honestly answering questions and managing our expectations is the best way to quality customer service. Thanks to the ladies at the front and to Ameile (?) for a very nice Saturday evening. We'll look forward to coming back!
Terrible Valentine's Day Experience
We booked a table for 8pm and weren't seated until 9pm. Our food didn't arrive until past 10pm. Waiter was incredibly rude throughout the meal, continually acting as if he was doing us a huge favour by waiting on us. They couldn't have cared less about allergies, and refused to even attempt to modify one of the main courses. Eventually managed to serve some dry tuna and rice and charged us $29 for the privilege. Probably our worst dining experience in Chapel Hill. Terrible service, terrible value for money, average food.

Way too overbooked. Not even close to being on time for their reservations. No apologies. Bar too packed to even get a drink while waiting. After the hour wait, food was good but service was spotty.
Maybe Next Time?
We were in town taking our Tar Heel daughter and her friend to dinner. It happened to be Valentine's Saturday night. Zoo. Tables jammed together on two floors. Probably to be expected. My server had ten tables himself. Tonight I ordered the special which was later mistakenly given to someone else. Turned out that was the last one. They recommended a steak which really turned out badly for me as well. Management and the server tried their best to make it up to us. It was a crazy night for them I could see. My only real complaint is that I feel they really upped the pricing from the last time we were there. I'm guessing to make the most of Valentine's weekend. I've owned a restaurant. Sometimes you can't make it right. I appreciate that they tried.
Our favorite special occasion restaurant
We love City Kitchen, especially for special occasions. Their special menus and holiday offerings such as the Valentine's Day menu and Thanksgiving buffet make it unique. They can accomodate large groups and always give us our special requests for seating. Regardless of whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out, the food offerings contain both unique and familiar (steaks, burgers, comfort food) choices to keep everyone happy. Wonderful service completes the package!
Ribeye lacked flavor. Were out of Saxaphaw Pale ale so our server suggested a seazon (sp?) that was nothing like a pale ale. Mussels were fishy. Wife's short ribs were very good. Tables for two had one person facing a wall with all the ambience out of view. Waitress forgot to use our coupon. Wasn't very knowledgeable about the food.
Good place, despite being part of a mall
I've been to City Kitchen a couple of times. It's been busy both times, and for good reason. It's pretty darn good. The only real negative is the fact that it's part of a mall. I'm not into fine dining at malls/plazas. But, if you're going to get a nice bite before hitting the movie theater, this is a good spot. I'm vegetarian, and I still found the spinach tagliette a pretty decent dish. The desserts were phenomenal--one was creme brulee and I forget the other one except that it had peanut butter. We got some sort of spinach spread dish to start, and it was yummy.
This is a great place to meet up with a friend, whether it be for lunch, dinner or for drinks. We enjoyed the service - she came by just enough to make sure we were doing well but not too often that it disrupted our conversation; very much appreciated. I like the openness of the place and all the interesting things on the walls! I also like the specials. It was nice to get 1/2 off on our bottle of wine we shared. Thanks for the enjoyable food and evening!
