Christy Hill Ratings and Reviews
Great Overall Experience
My husband and I went here with our 7 year old daughter for the fourth time. The servers are quick and friendly and the food is just fun and delicious. (I will point out that it is the second time that our meat was really salty and perhaps it had to do with the sauce being over-reduced, but it was pretty strong.) Other than that, the food was beautiful and our daughter could even enjoy the sushi appetizer, the duck and the cod dishes. The dessert was the strawberry shortcake "kit" which was more like little English scones with homemade strawberry and rhubarb jams - so cute! We would definitely return.
Great meal with a great view of Lake Tahoe
High quality food right on Lake Tahoe. Probably one of the best restaurants in the north Lake Tahoe area.

Another great meal and JB was his usual great self!
Good views, good dinner, disappointing dessert
The hamachi tartare appetizer and the caesar salad were both excellent. I had the steak, which was also very good. The horseradish cream went very well with the steak and potatoes, and the spinach was also outstanding. My friend had the lamb, which came with a Moroccan spice rub that was good but overwhelmed the flavor of the meat a bit. Both of our desserts were disappointing. The top of the creme brulee tasted burnt, and the sticky toffee pudding cake lacked the rich flavor I am accustomed to with this dessert. The restaurant is right on the lake, and the views of the lake from the restaurant are outstanding.
Husband and I were not impressed with the food and the service was terrible. Apparently since we didn't order alcohol we were not well liked we would not venture there again. The view was the only nice thing about it.
Would definitely recommend this place. Amazing food, service and a view of the lake. Wine list is extensive although cocktail list is limited to low alcohol options due to license restrictions.
Cute Restaurant with Great View
The location was great. There's seating with great views of the lake. Food was very nicely presented and tasted delicious. However, a little pricey for the amount of food given. Service was ok, could of been a bit more friendlier.
The food, as always, was outstanding!! The service was friendly yet professional and knowledgeable. I go here for dinner everytime I'm visiting Tahoe. Nice touch that the chef came out to say hello.
Christy Hill is great!
Great food, beautiful view, kind service. Nice places outdoors when weather allows, nice fire pits to sit at. Did I say beautiful view? Beautiful view. ;-)
Cozy, scenic and deish!
Great spot, can't wait to try everything on the menu.
Holy cow, we are seldom lost for words
The reviews looked good, especially from Open Table diners - but we have seen those before right? Must have been friends and family..... We have been coming up to Tahoe for 20 years now, and we have learned to moderate our expectations. That was all blown away tonight. An eclectic varied menu, dishes from the global palate - often that indicates uncertainty from the establishment, trying to find the lowest common denominator to please the widest audience. So often failing miserably - but not here. Each dish we tried was a masterpiece unto itself. What sublime flavor depths, what unexpected delights. Make no mistake, this is Tahoe, not Cannes or Paris, San Francisco or New York. So that saves you $30+ per plate. Still, I am hard pressed to think of anywhere I have been more impressed by the range of dishes. Yes three star Michelin offer great dishes, we have savored them. The select offerings, combined with the finesse and complexity of flavor demonstrate that Chef Andrew is truly a master of his craft. Confident not outrageous, challenging our gastronomic preconceptions, yet delivering dishes that delight. The knowledgeable wait staff complement the food, guiding not dictating, a sublime balance. friendly and approachable. What a fabulous evening. So why only four stars for service? We arrived early - our fault, and of course the place was packed. We could have been handled a little better, so feedback with love. We have booked for tomorrow. Don't think there is a place within 100 miles we would rather frequent.
Great food and service.
Great food and service.
Tahoe snow storm
We were thrilled to get a reservation here after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. Fun, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Excellent food, wine choices and cocktails. Intimate setting with a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe, even during a near-blizzard (hey, we are from FL). There were 4 in our group and we all ordered something different. I loved the bass--crispy skin and cooked to perfection. Husband loved everything about the steak. Duck was wonderful. We had a lovely evening.
I went to Christy Hill after I proposed to my girlfriend. I had sent in a subject line for my reservation notifying the restaurant that that would be the case. They were extremely friendly and accommodating. They really gave us a quality evening together there in a very Romantic and beautiful restaurant. The food was excellent. Even the salad that she got was layered in the dressing and delicious. We tried one of everything, wine, small dish, large dish, cheese plate, dessert, and a side. All of it was great. We recommend going here for all of the above reasons.
Soup and fish
The housemade soup was delicious and the stripped bass preparation was fantantic.
Pricey but great!
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner and time at Christy Hill. The food is excellent and well prepared. The presentation is excellent. The quantity of food is very small (hence the "pricey" heading), but our dinners were so rich that it wasn't a problem. Our waiter was outstanding.
Lake Tahoe Favorite
This is our favorite place for a nice dinner every time we visit Lake Tahoe.
consistently excellent, but...
This was only our third dinner at Christy Hill...we live about an hour away. All were special occasions, this time my wife's birthday (Feb. 16). We had an all-around excellent experience, though if I could do it again I'd ask for a different waiter. Don't know his name (I doubt he even introduced himself), but while he was certainly competent, he was self-righteous and full of himself. Not someone you could warm up to, and certainly not someone who would care if you did or not.
Perfect for a sunset after day of skiing
Make a reservation (or arrive) a little before sunset and you can grab a table overlooking Lake Tahoe. It's pretty cozy and the waitstaff was very friendly. Cheese plate was eh (except for local honey!) but the duck and fish main plates were very tasty. Groups of varying size and ages seemed to be enjoying themselves
Christy Hill at sunset
Beautiful views, excellent and interesting food with good presentation, good service. Can be a little loud if seated near one of the few larger tables, but not excessively loud. Overall, excellent.

We Will Be Back
Very accommodating working our party in on a crowded night. The view was epic. The food and wine was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Overpriced for what you get
My husband had the Osso Bucco which arrived cold (not even lukewarm). I told him to send it back but he refused and he said he was fine with that. I felt that for $30, if the food was meant to be served hot, then at least it should be hot. Seems like the kitchen forgot to warm that dish up. We had the vegetarian ravioli (4 good size pcs), Scallops entree (3 - 1-3.4" diameter for $34) and I had the small plate of braised pork belly (1 small piece). Ravioli was fine. Scallops was nicely done and so was the pork belly. I think the quantity is on the skimpy side for the price except for the Osso Bucco which was huge (just cold).

Beautiful and simple little place on the lake. The food and service were excellent. Well priced and well proportioned dishes. The butternut squash salad was a standout, as well as the duck. Next time we find ourselves in Tahoe City, I have a feeling we'll also find ourselves at Christy Hill for an evening.
An unexpected gem
Was in west Lake Tahoe for my birthday and came across this restaurant in a web search. We took a chance and went ( with our 10 year old daughter) and could not have been more pleased. The food was excellent ( the foix gras started it off), the service was attentive without hovering and thank goodness the waiter had a sense of humor( my daughter was less than impressed by the foix gras!) The restaurant was small and intimate but not loud or pretentious. We saw several larger groups so it can accommodate that if needed. We will definitely be recommending it to our friends!
Great place, great view, very romantic.
Not children friendly but they made special paste for the grandchildren with no hesitation
Lovely little Tahoe gem
Who doesn't love well executed food in a lovely setting right on the lake? Great service goes well with a very flexible menu (take you friends who can't eat anywhere here and they'll be well taken care of) and a lovely location and you can't help but have a great night out. Perfect for date night or a night out with friends.
Like coming home
Our server just had a genuineness about him and the food was excellent !
Entering Christy Hill, we thought we were in for a real treat... The service started out just fine... the food was below what we expected. Upon asking for the check (and handing our waiter my credit card), we then waited more than 25 minutes... and then I had to go ask for our bill again. He did not remember that I had handed him my credit card. Maybe it was because it was very crowded... We own a condo in the area and do not plan on returning to Christy Hill. We did discover our new favorite restaurant in Tahoe City a few night's later... Wolfdale's was amazing!
A Wonderful Christmas Eve!
During the holiday chaos, we like to go out at least once to get away from our own kitchen. It's difficult to find restaurants open on Christmas Day, so we go out on Christmas Eve. Often, normally good restaurants don't do too well on holidays; they're way overbooked, and their kitchens go into meltdown mode. This was not the case with Christy Hill. We had to accept an early seating, but the food was excellent, and the service from JB, our waiter, was exemplary. I had the bay scallop followed by grilled sea bass, which were perfection -- beautifully prepared, light, and delicious. My husband had osso bucco, and our son had the brined pork chop. All were very tasty, but the men said their meals were a little heavy. My husband had vanilla crème brulee for dessert, and my son and I shared the sticky toffee pudding, which was enough for two. It was very rich, especially with the salted caramel ice cream, but it WAS Christmas! Wine and beer only at Christy Hill, but this suited us. My son had his favorite ale, and we trusted JB's vast knowledge and experience with wines for recommendations. The evening was exactly what we'd hoped: delicious food and wine and friendly service. Christy Hill is becoming the place to go for a special occasion. Happy New Year, all!
Winter but worth it
We had a wet day out on the slopes and it was great to have a fine meal in the evening. It was above our expectations and we will be back to try the other fare!
Delicious and Inspired
This is my favorite restaurant in Tahoe! The wait staff love expanding the menu and are very enthusiastic about the offerings both with wine and food. They make the experience truly enjoyable! The food is beautifully presented and delicious. Nothing has been so so, everything is an eye opener.
Great space, okay food
We had a great time, servers were great and so nice. Food was not great. Some items were not hot, flavor was so-so and overall not worth the price.

Dinner at Christy Hill has always been amazing: great food and wine selection! Great service and host! Thank you, Robin, for another wonderful night! We'll see you Christmas Eve!
A Great Dinner Experience
We returned to Christy Hill for the first time in several years. It has always been a "favorite" of ours when we are in the area. Now it is just as outstanding an experience as we remembered it from years ago. Outstanding food, beautiful appearance on the plate, and great service. Our evening was just great, and our friends, who are frequent diners in excellent and expensive restaurants, thought this was outstanding. We will return any time we are in the area and want a great dining experience.
The ambiance, the food, the staff - all excellent. We will be back!
Best food in Tahoe!
This is the best kept (or was) secret in Tahoe City! Location, view, atmosphere, wine list and most notably the food! Have been here numerous times and each time it's just as good as we've remembered. Never disappointed!! Highly recommend! During the summer you can also enjoy their "sand bar" location below the restaurant for a more casual snack and beer. You'll be missing out if you don't make a reservation (recommended) for your next visit in Tahoe!
Amazing views and incredible food!
Amazing view and Incredible food awaits with this dining experience. Great service from Dave added to the experience. Would recommend this restaurant if looking for a great dining experience with amazing flavors! The Moroccan Lamb was amazing as was the Duck done two ways!
Excellent, as always.
I have been coming to Christy Hill each year as my restaurant of choice for anniversary and date nights with my (now) fiance. This weekend I decided to make up for our missed anniversary dinner earlier this year with a surprise birthday dinner before our wedding in a few weeks. As always, the excellent staff and cuisine at Christy Hill made it an amazing experience. I requested champagne through the OpenTable reservation and it came promptly after we were seated. They made multiple kind references to my fiance's birthday, even though I mentioned it only in the OpenTable reservation. The waitstaff was friendly and very knowledgable about the menu and wine pairings, and we ordered the delicious Moroccan lamb and roast chicken dishes. We were astounded by the flavor and quality of the food (as we have come to expect), and couldn't stop from smiling the whole time. This would have been enough for me, but when we ordered dessert it came with a candle and more well wishes for my fiance's birthday. We were elated and finished the dinner with a nice french-press coffee. I usually don't care enough to write reviews, but I pretty much always end up doing so for Christy Hill because they always deliver an unforgettable experience, right on the lake I might add. We hope to make it in more often and will use any excuse to visit for another date night.
