Chart House - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews

I have been to this locations many times throughout the last 20 years and always experienced a consistent level of service. It is definitely vibrant and nothing short of exciting as it is popular with locals and visitors from both domestic and international markets. Happy Hour is only available at the bar area and a great value with different menu items. The set dinner menu is superb and at a great value. Finally, the selection and variety suits all palates. It is what you make of it and for me, I know what to expect and go there with that in mind.
waiter's poor handling of my payment
I had 2 gift cards that I wasn't sure of values plus 2 Promo certificates (letter size) that received when I purchased Christmas Gift Cards. Waiter was suppose to check on values of gift cards so I could decide which to use. He opted to just use the gift card with largest value without my consent didn't bring the back the receipt for me to add the tip. Just poor handling. Wanted to use the paper certificates but now still carrying the 2 large letter-size sheets.
Dinner at Chart House was disappointing, as the sirloin steaks my wife and I ordered where not cooked properly, didn't have flavor, and baked potatoes were not offered as one of the starch options. The dinner started off with a shocking discovery, as the waiter asked if we had any coupons or dinner offers, and I stated I was a Landry Restaurant frequent diner and was there to celebrate my birthday with the $25.00 gift they added to my I-Phone app. The waiter stated this particular Chart House did not honor Landry Restaurant's frequent guest program, which is a first for me. The service was good, but I left disappointed and will not dine at this restaurant in the future.
The key lime pie piece was way too large. The sword fish and Ceasars salad was great. Had not been there for a number of years and noticed the crabby ceiling. Maybe a remodel should be nice.
Delicious Food / High Prices
Perhaps a little worse for wear, the Honolulu Chart House still cranks out a delicious meal, however, their prices have escalated considerably. We enjoyed a superb prime rib dinner, preceded by a dozen oysters on the half shell, (very fresh), (1-dozen oysters $40.00!) An 18 oz prime rib, which my wife and I shared was $58.00, but considering its size, was worth it. Eddie, the bar tender was fabulous and very knowledgeable. All in all, we enjoyed our meal, (except for the sticker shock on the oysters).

1. Parking was a nightmare. Despite advertising free valet parking, there was no valet parking. All the neighboring lots were full; when I dropped off my wife to ask where to park, we were told to park in meters and pay. Had to park about .35 miles away. 2. Food was very good. 3. Service/management was terrible. Tried to ask for a substitution for dessert, trading 2 desserts for one and even offering to pay extra. Manager refused without discussion or consideration. It cost more to make the 2 desserts we had with our order than the one we wanted, and we were willing to pay a few extra bucks. Poor business decision that led to no tip and poor review.

The food here is totally worth the price. I go back for the baked stuff shrimp for every special occasion.
So nice !
We loved The Chart House. While staying at the Ilikai Marina, we are at the Chart House frequently. Service great, food: YUM. Can't wait to go back there.
Not like the others.
We have eaten at quite a few Chart Houses. This by far does not come up to the standards that we have experienced at the others. The décor is very dark and dated. It is almost depressing. The food was OK and the service was fine but if this was your first time to a Chart House, I do not think you be looking to go to another one.
We have been coming to Hawaii for decades and each time we have dined at Chart House. It is one of our favs on Oahu so much so that we will take the 45 minute drive from Ko Olina. Great food and not overpriced like many nicer restaurants. We will definitely be back.
Outstanding, as always!
The Chart House remains one of our favorite restaurants in Honolulu. This is definitely THE go-to place if you want fish/seafood. I highly recommend the "special menu" for dinner. You get a choice of appetizer (go for the oyster Rockefeller), choice of soup or salad (can't go wrong with the clam chowder), various fish and seafood items for main course (for non-fish lovers, there are steaks and chicken), and your choice from among dessert offerings. This is a great deal and the food is delicious. Prior to dining, however, you should order their signature cocktail, the GuyTai (their version of the MaiTai, only better!) The food here is delicious, cooked to perfection, and served by a very professional staff who are friendly and available without being overbearing.

Steaks were all cooked incorrectly. Takes forever to get any type of drink refill
Tourist trap, pushy vendors trying to sell stuff at the tables even after being told no, photographer, flowers. Way overpriced. No place for a vegetarian, one of the five of us had to eat a salad and baked potato. I would avoid this place.

Fabulous seafood with scenic sunset view
Found this gem last year. Ate there 4 times at the bar in a week. Great scenic sunset view over the marina. This year ate there with family, a total of 6 and had an even better time. Tony from Sty Town was the bomb. He made our great dinner even better by his great suggestions & attentive service. We will be back!
Great Valentine's Day Dinner
Awesome menu and service with a great view of the harbor. Menu options were great with special occasion menus that change monthly. Great music as well from the live band.
Disappointing dinner and service
Seating was back in a corner with no view, ordered a beverage - Beer had to ask for it three times, all food ordered was from appetizer menu, calamari not hot, soft shell crab fishy and not hot, escargot nothing special, poke was was good and flavorful. Not going back, too bad walking distance from condo
Worst calamari I've ever eaten. Mahi Mahi bad.
Calamari was mostly small tentacles, overcooked. The few rings in the order were rubbery and tasteless. Worst calamari I've ever eaten. Mahi Mahi was tasteless, mushy and ordered grilled but tasted baked. Worst $65 spent on a meal in Waikiki, hands down.

Food has gone way downhill! Tourist Trap now! Best Stunning Views of Ala Wai Harbor... I used to come here with my family, when the menu was on a chalk board! Simple small perfect menu! Everything WAS Delicious! Now everything is Disastrous👎🏼 service was horrible! Too busy overcrowded, and simply annoying! Except for the STUNNING VIEW, expect gross food! Horrible Service, except for busboy! And Premium prices! Hugely Disappointing!
Fun chow, vibrant, with live music
Good meal. Hearty steaks. Decent range of appetisers. Helpful waiter. Fun night!
Vacationing on Waikiki and want a great meal, share some romance in a tropical setting? Chart House is a perfect location. You're going to have an attentive staff and entertainment as a plus.

My husband and I had the prime rib and it was incredible. The service was excellent and the sunset over the harbour is beautiful. This is a must go to when in Waikiki.
Good food, better drinks
We split the sea bass, and got a couple of appetizers, so that kept our bill down a bit. I know it's Waikiki, but $40 for sea bass seems high to me, especially since the restaurant has more of a "crab shack" vibe rather then white linen. That said, all the food was quite good, and the server was friendly in a "brah" kind of way. We went back to the bar for their late-night happy hour, and that was a good deal. I'd probably go back for happy-hour drinks and pupus at the bar, and skip the dining room. One thing, they let third-party girls go around the dining room taking your picture (which they then ask you if you want to buy for $60) and selling flowers.
Server was nonexistent after service.
Notified yelp and TripAdvisor. Would never recommend to anyone. Very loud atmosphere.
great place for our anniversary
the service was excellent and we were looked after very well. it started with a great table outside overlooking the Marina. The salmon shashimi was the best we have ever had and my steak was done to perfection. Perfect location, services and food for our anniversary!
This may have been the best steak I've ever had. I had the petite filet and my best friend had seafood. They had a special going on for $54 appetizer salad main dish and dessert. Service was a little slow but overall very good. Our waiter was very friendly. I would definitely go back

Our waiter Alan was tops. He lingered to see if our meat was cooked to our liking because he had an inkling, and sure enough, it was too rare for our taste. He brought back 2 fresh plates (I'd already eaten the grilled shrimp from the old one) done right. The beef- like buttah. He comped us on our drinks, the after dinner coffee and brought us an extra scoop of ice cream (it was also our anniversary). This is one of our favorite regulars.
Expensive under such a casual atmosphere !
The cost for food is not reasonable ; maybe we, the Japanese, have the different menu from the local?

Good service from friendly wait staff and nice view over harbor couldn't make up for awful food. WARNING: NOT related to the Chart House restaurant chain on the mainland. We won't be returning.
We did Christmas different this year and went out for dinner. Thought we would go Seafood and Chart House. The Menu was a bit overwhelming ,because, they had the regular Ala Carte Menu, the Monthly Deal Menu and the Holiday Menu!!!!!!!! After much back & forth some of us went with the Holiday & some with the Monthly Raw Oysters ,Rockefeller Oysters,Crab Cake,Onion Soup,Lobster Waikiki,Lamb Chops,Stuffed Shrimp,a bunch of Desserts & Guy Tais Lots of good food & lots of take home See you soon!
Good Xmas meal
Nice holiday menu - soooo much food. We went there for Xmas and had a great view also.
Bit of a Tourist trap
Our recent visit was extremely disappointing. This establishment is on the western edge of Waikiki and is mostly frequented by visitors and as such it appears it does not depend on return customers. The broad menu offerings will satisfy most everyone. This is casual dining except that you feel you are on a conveyor belt. Most often the food will come quickly and you will be in and out in less than 90 minutes. A very annoying pattern is that the bus staff never stop coming by to pick up an empty plate or glass regardless of the pace of the diners. However at our last visit both the food and drink service was slow and when one of the plates came cold, it took a very long time after we requested that our waiter come by to take it back to the kitchen. (Waiter disappeared) No apologies offered and new serving did not arrive until everyone else had almost finished their meal. At this point the bus help was frantically clearing the table. Again when the waiter gave us the bill, no apologies or offers to make things right by either the server or the manager, who was no where in sight. Difficult for me to recommend this restaurant for supper if you are looking for a casual pleasant evening out.
Best 16th Birthday Dinner Ever!
From start to finish this restaurant was excellent. The Food: The calamari was cooked just right and had great flavor. The Ahi Sashimi was very fresh and clean tasting. The clam chowder was a bit thick, but it was very good and it had large pieces of clams in it. You can also taste a hint of bacon. 3 people in our party opted for the Special menu of the month. All were delicious and perfectly cooked: Mahi Mahi, steak and shrimp and New York steak. My son had the prime rib which he said was the best he had every eaten . There was so much food and then we had dessert. The chocolate lava cake oozed warm rich chocolate which was tamed by creamy vanilla ice cream. The birthday boy was treated to cream brûlée with a candle and a song. He licked the dish clean. The Ambiance and Service: Diner's have commented on the style of the restaurant. We liked it. It was 'old school' steak and seafood decor. We were fortunate to have had our request for a view of the marina honored. The restaurant sits above street level so the view is amazing, especially at night with all the Christmas light on the boats in the marina. The service was immaculate, food arrived well timed, our server was knowledgeable and friendly. We loved that the Manager came by to make sure we were enjoying our evening. He checked on every table around us too. It was a very happy and lively atmosphere. It will fondly be remembered as the best restaurant experience we had in Waikiki. Thank you so much for making my son's 16th birthday special. Mahalo nui loa.
Chart House a Great Place
We went with 3 children & 5 adults & everyone had a great time. The restaurant has a great view of the boat harbor & sunset. The service was prompt, the food was fresh & yummy, lots of choices on the menu to suite many different tastes. We had been doing a MaiTai taste test to every bar & restaurant we went to & the Chart House MaiTai still holds #1 on our list so we highly recommend trying one!! We will definitely return to the Chart House on future trips to Hawaii. We used OpenTable to make our reservation & it worked perfect & the restaurant even still called to confirm our reservation the day before, which we really appreciated.
Lovely thanksgiving meal. Great waiter
Lovely thanksgiving meal. Great waiter
Reserve your table on busy days
Was very romantic if you get to sit right next to the pier. Service was great! Restaurant very clean. Prices were a bit high but it's Waikiki... Everything's expensive there. My 12 oz steak was to die for!!! And the lava flow was perfect! Go here for your special occasion! They handle large groups pretty well if you reserve ahead of time!!
hostess couldn't care less about our reservation.
this reservation was made weeks inadvance; we showed-up early and the hostess instructs the "usher" to our table. This was NOT an "edge table" we had requested and we told the "usher" that we reserved an "edge"table. She was VERY NICE and asked us to wait a few minutes and she would seat us at the next "edge table", which she did. Everything else was FINE; even the Thanksgiving buffet We feel, your hostess needs to be more personable; than being just ; all business
Not the same Chart House
We have enjoyed excellent dining at Chart Houses in California and Maui. Waikiki was dismal. The food was below average and was not served hot. Very disappointed. The restaurant is old and not well maintained. It is unfortunate that they do not take advantage of a beautiful location overlooking the marina.
