Chart House Restaurant - Melbourne Ratings and Reviews
Not Acknowledging Tipping
I have already commented on this subject with The Chart House directly but wanted to say that I am continually disappointed at the lack of courtesy and professionalism when it comes to thanking a patron for a tip. I worked in the industry (both bartender and wait staff) and always thanked the patron for my tip and it always paid off for me as I usually got better tips next time around...people do appreciate a thank you and I am a generous tipper (depending on service quality) because I do appreciate the hard work - Chart House restaurants and restaurants at that level should be especially aware of this and train/retrain, refresh their staff on the importance of taking the time to thank a patron for their tip...it will go a long way....

Food was excellent, as always. I had the grouper with sorrel sauce and my husband had the shrimp and scallops. The salad bar is top notch. It's my husband's favorite. Service was very good. The ambience is always nice and the view of the lagoon spectacular.
Our server, Max was very attentive. Chart House is our "go to spot" for special occasions and for just when we want to treat ourselves to a great meal.

Great table by the water....service was excellent. Food was good not great. Blackened grouper was bland and calamari over seasoned but shrimp/scallop meal was excellent and the short ribs were good. Great location and atmosphere so we'll be back!
We always love Chart House- the best around! Our favorite is gazpacho grouped which is delicious1 It's great food and service all the time!
Great food but noisy.
We have dined here several times because the food is awesome, the view of the water is lovely, the portions are generous. BUT, it is noisy. Tables close together and acoustics add up to difficulty hearing each other. Otherwise great.
Dining at the Chart House is special!!
There is everything you would want and all prepared with care. This is the best salad bar anywhere! Management and staff are always there for you! This is the place to relax because everything will be perfect!
Food and drinks were wonderful! Service fair.
The food and drinks were delicious, but our server was extremely sarcastic and put out. She rolled her eyes when we asked for a cucumber for our cucumber martini's even though the first ones had come with one. She said, "I guess I will go cut some" in a disgusted tone and then was snippy for the rest of the evening...until about five minutes before we were to get the check (leave a tip), then her attitude suddenly changed and she was sweet as she could be. We would still return, but I would probably try to avoid Rachel as my server.
The pasta was "soggy" and "mushy" almost like it was either overcooked or it was 3 days old My friend's deep fried shrimp was dark in color which basically indicates "old and used oil." My wife's fish was "over cooked." The Bloody Mary's are outstanding but your FOOD needs an overhaul. Then again, why should you care.............you draw people simply for the ambiance and scenic view. As of me...........C YA never again.
Birthday print out appreciated
I appreciated the special touch in printing birthday greetings on the menu and the special birthday card from staff.
Our family's favorite restaurant to celebrate family occasions. CH can accommodate my son's many food allergies. The salad bar is the freshest with tons of variety for all. The menu is diverse and atmosphere is, well, you have to be there to experience it.
Absolutely delicious gazpacho. Grouper was small and while perfectly OK, it was not memorable. Server was polite and attentive. I've eaten here before and been more "wow'ed". There was nothing wrong this time, just not anything to write home about!

Excellent venue for business or personal fining. The variety, food, service, and ambiance are consistently outstanding. The Chart House is my favorite Melbourne dining destination!
We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. Waiter arrived promptly. It was so noisy we could barely hear him. The food was very good - we had salmon and scallops. Dessert was the apple and cherry crisp. It would be much more pleasant if some sound absorptive material was installed. It's like a cafeteria the way it is.
I ordered the steak and pasta dish and every piece of steak was horrible....could barely chew...full of grizzle/fat or something. I was expecting better quality.
We enjoy the menu and the view. Tom is an excellent server whom we request with each reservation. We especially enjoy the manager stopping by to chat.

Delicious and creative food. My party got the tuna, grouper and parm encrusted snapper - all excellent. Leave room for molten lava cake. Great for a special occasion. Beautiful water views even if you're not right by a window. Definitely smart casual attire - no t-shirts and casual shorts. They probably won't kick you out, but you might feel out of place.
View, service and food was great. Only problem was that they had no nonalcoholic beer ( ran out?). The occasion was my father's 86th birthday and that is what he likes to drink. Management didn't seem to care that this was second time it happened to him there.
Finest Restaurant in South Brevard
As we have come to expect over many years. The food is outstanding, service impeccable and of course the view is off-the-map. Simply the best - probably a bit overpriced but its not a place you go to eat at frequently.
Still the best
This restaurant has always been a favorite place to celebrate a special occasion. Once again, they did not disappoint. Service and food were very good.

Had a 7:00 reservation. Was seated at 7:30 with no apologies or mention of the wait. LOUD. Food was just ok. Entrees only came with starch. Paid $7 for a side of green beans and salad was extra as well. For the prices they charge for the entrees, a salad and side should be included. Great view but would not recommend this place at all. We do not mind spending a fair amount for a great meal but this place does not deliver.
Great Service but loud.
Service and food was great! There were a lot of unattended children running around which was annoying. The kitchen was very slow but the server was upfront and and apologetic.
Not so good
Res was for 6:30, were seated at 6:55, our cold soup arrived at 7:30, before the bread basket. Rest of the meal was downhill. We are used to better food and better service. Come to Toronto and we'll show you what good food and dining is all about. Disappointed Canadians
It had been at least 10 years since our last visit to Chart House in Melbourne. The building has been refurbished since then and is in nice condition. Nothing else really good to say. The food wasn't bad, just very basic. The grilled grouper was cooked a little too long. The signature pan fried fish with crab meat topping was just okay. The dessert was very good, the lava cake. When you set prices on a menu at the top, your recipes and preparation have to top-notch also. Sadly, the Chart House did not deliver at that high level. I was really looking forward to some great seafood. If there's a next time I will try the beef.
This place has reliably good food, service, and view. But it has become noisy after the removal of the wall around the bar area. So it isn't so good for a group because of the noise. You can't hear each other. Similarly, it isn't my kind of a romantic place for dinner for the same reason. I don't like to yell at my dinner companion. And it is expensive. And it is definitely NOT a place to take kids unless you bring them lots of things to do. I suggest an IPad with kid-appropriate programs.

good food and service
good food and service and atmosphere, definately hope to go back.
Good food---but timing was off
My husband and I went to the Chart House on Mar 20. We got there for a 630 reservation and were seated pretty quickly. I chose the melange of soups for an appetizer and my husband got the salad bar. We were barely finished these when the main course was served. They both were good--but would have appreciated some time between the courses. When we mentioned the quick service to the waiter, he said it was due to the kitchen being "in a groove." I would have hoped that this would have meant they were more in tune with the diners.

Whicked Tuna Linter Bisk Snapper Hemming Way Some of my favorites
Having Been to several Chart House Locations over the last 15 years, including this Melbourne, Fl restaurant many times, I have to say that Service is Always great. The food on the other hand was just OK- not Outstanding as it has been here in the past and at other Chart House locations like- Boston or Savannah. This is the 3rd time in the last year that we have left there feeling this way. Again for us it was good, Not Great as we have been used to.
Killer views with excellent food, but noisy.
One of the best view restaurants in Central Florida, Chart House is also one of the best dining experiences Brevard Country has to offer. The only persistent detraction is that the place is noisy. It is often difficult to converse without shouting to the person sitting right next to you - depending on the excitement level at adjoining tables. There are many things that could be done to dampen the noise caused by a) an open architectural design, b) hard floors, c) an open kitchen, and d) lots of glass windows which all reverberate sound. Sound dampening carpeting, glass coatings, ceiling tiles, and yes, paint might help. Putting a large glass panel between the tables and the open bar and kitchen would not obscure views, but would likely decrease the clamour.
This is a great place to go for many reasons, 1) Many choices for great food 2) Out of this world service for both food and bar drinks 3) The best river view in town
Busness Dinner for Four
Chose Chart House for convenience. Crowded, as expected, but table waiting for our party. Service very slow all evening. Food very good. Noise pretty excessive. One of the nicer places in Melbourne.
Great service - great food
Service was excellent - waiter was great he knew when to come to see if we wanted something and when we leave us to chat. Food was excellent - they have the best salad bar
Don't waste your time.
I went there for dinner with my wife, thinking it would be quite, romantic and a awesome time. We got there and it was louder then some bars I have been at. The romantic time I was thinking we were gonna have was ruined. The view is beautiful but it doesn't make up for the rest of the night. The food was awesome! I had a NY strip and it was one of the best steaks I've had. All in all, I will never return to the Chart House, I left paying $140 and had a horrible night.
Could stand a few changes
My wife and self have been twice since Oct and enjoyed the atmosphere, good service and quite tasty. I feel the portions are a bit small and dinner should have at least one side as part of the main course. The personally printed menu's are a nice touch.
Nice for a Celebration
I celebrated my birthday here with a friend and we really enjoyed it. We dined early to take advantage of the Early Bird menu which is definitely value. Would definitely return. We were early enough so the place was relatively quiet. With the completely open concept, I can see the bar area getting very noisy later in the evening.

The Snapper Hemingway was very tasty especially with the lump crab topping. We also ordered the prime rib and it was prepared as ordered. We shared the lava cake and it was delicious!
Great Dining Experience
My husband and I ate here as a special treat while on our vacation. We had eaten at the one in Las Vegas and loved it. This location was just as enjoyable. We love the calamari appetizer (one of the reasons we came here). We both had fish dishes which were delicious. We both thought about adding the salad bar to our meal, but after looking at it decided that it was just an average salad bar. The chocolate lava cake for dessert was wonderful. We had a nice quiet table and a great waiter.
Awesome food.Awesome service.But disappointed.....
This was my first visit to The Chart House and I was very impressed with the food and the service. The view was spectacular and even full to capacity you could still have conversations with your party. However my disappointment is paying the price charged for my meal and seeing other customers walk in with shorts, t shirts and flip flops on. Not sure the thought of paying $40+ dollars for a steak and coming in such casual attire. I guess I'm from the old school that when you go out in public you should actually dress. I laugh as my husband dressed in a long sleeve dress shirt and dress pants and I in a dress and heels and we were actually concerned before we arrived that perhaps we would be underdressed. But I will be back without a doubt.......but this time will not be worried that I'm underdressed in a dress and heels.
