Great food as always, never a doubt! Fish, pasta, salad, soup, everything!
Awful ambience, terrible service, decent food
Without question the worst restaurant experience I've had in the past 10 years. Considering this restaurant is owned by Celestino Drago, one of the finest Italian restauranteurs in the LA area, I went in with high expectations. We have dined at Drago Centro many times, and each time we are thrilled with the attentive service and superb food. We showed up on time for our reservation, but were asked to wait for "our table" to vacate. The restaurant was half full...there were plenty of other four tops available. Considering we did not see the restaurant fill up during our meal, the delay was unnecessary. Our party of three sat down and they provided us with only two menus. When a server, who did not introduce himself, showed up I began to ask him for a third menu, but he robotically began reciting the litany of specials. When he was done with his soliloquoy, he simply walked away without another word. We sat for a few minutes more, sharing a menu, waiting for someone to offer us something to drink. A server showed up and said, "have you ordered yet?" I told him we hadn't. He did not apologize. He just said, "OK, are you ready to order?" I said, "we need a third menu - you only gave us two. And do you have a wine list?" He said yes, and brought them. The menu had no wines by the glass listed - but they offered them by grape type - I didn't get to even see what it was! I've never had that experience. The food was good. But for the better part of our entire meal, we had to listen to the manager yell at a server from across the room. They screamed at each other in Italian. It was tacky and pathetic. If you want to feel like you're on the set of a terrible Italian movie or living a Billy Joel song, then Celestino is your place. If you require even the tiniest bit of human decency in your service, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. I may order takeout in the future - the food is worth it. But I will never sit down in that dining room again.
Very good menu and service. A Pasadena favorite. Very good wine selection.
Our go-to neighborhood restaurant
We live close by to Celestinos. They never let us down. Quality food. Great service. Very accommodating. We usually order from the specials of the evening and are always very happy with the choice.
Food and services are alwasys great.!
I really like this place and every time I go everything is as expected, Menu is updated with interesting combination, without deviating far away from some traditional Italian flavor. Wine list can accommodate any demanding taste and budget. Very nice.!
Always the finest
We are always delighted to dine here but tonight was over the top amazing. Food, Service, everything.
The whole restaurant is a cluster. I couldn't even find the hostess to check in for my reservation - the only way I knew it was her was bc there was a crowd of people hovering around her. Even though we had a reservation we waited for 20 minutes. The food took forever to come out and it wasn't even anything special. Really disappointed.
A good "girlfriends" spot
As more and more women dine together, it's nice to have a wait staff that handles us with ease, humor and good service. The wait staff at Celestino's were all "characters" and a lot of fun. Thanks for a fun night!

This Pasadena institution never disappoints. The food blends the best of the Old World Italian with modern touches. Service is professional; almost balletic. Noise can be an issue but it is possible to find a quiet nook most nights
Excellent food, great menu, but poor service
Excellent food, great menu, but very poor service. After waiting for more than an hour and a half, we asked about the status of our order and found that they lost our order.
Loud and Fast!!!
The tables are grouped together so if you don't mind listening to your neighbors conversation or have them hear yours then it is all good. We also found it very loud and the services rushed. Once we ordered our food it arrived in less than 10 minutes. That is not always a bad thing but in some cases when you want to relax and enjoy conversation with the person you are with then... The food was very good!!

Absolutely perfect every time... don't miss this wonderful restaurant
Both the food and the wine list reflect a true knowledge of Italian culture. I just wish the place was a little bigger. Tables are quite close together and the noise level is high indoors.

Celestino's is always wonderful. Food nearly always excellent as is the service, even on New Years Eve. My husband is in a wheelchair and they always accommodate us nicely when I've alerted them in advance.
Bland, especially for the price
The food here is bland. We had a pasta dish with red sauce and a roast chicken dish. I can do better at home.
I've been to Celestino's before as well as its sister restaurant, Drago Centro, and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, this time it was a bit disappointing. While the food was still quite good, my guests and I thought it was a bit over-priced for what we got. The risotto with porcini mushrooms was definitely not worth the price. The waiter, while friendly, was not up to par. My friend ordered Pinot Grigio with ice on the side and it came with the ice in the glass. I ordered a cocktail with 3 olives and got 1 olive. After our dessert, we waited...and waited...and waited for the server to come with the bill, but he was too busy chatting up the ladies at the neighboring table. I finally had to interrupt him mid-conversation to get his attention. I had reservations for the following week for a party of six, but as a result of the poor service I cancelled them and made reservations elsewhere. Hopefully my next experience at Celestino's will be better.
Our Pasadena Favorite
Always enjoy our dinners at Celestino's. They have the whole package, from outstanding food, service and cocktails. Often we ask them to make dishes that are not on the menu or on the specials for the evening, they always try to accommodate us. The waiters are "real" waiters and do this as their profession and not some temporary gig. The owner is very hands on in the dining area and kitchen.
It's always a pleasure to dine at Celestino, where they really take care of their guests. It's friendly, with great service, so that you can just relax and let them take care of you. I brought guests from Europe and they were delighted.
Gonna go back for more
We had a fantastic meal with delightful, warm service. Call me hooked

Once again the Celestino team was spot on. Our server and staff were very attentive. The food was wonderful. From the calamari, the mushroom timbal, the perfectly dressed spinach and pecorino salad, the branzino, and salmon just perfectly cooked.
My husband and I had delightful memories of a dinner at Celestino about 8 years ago. As we were celebrating our anniversary in Pasadena we made a reservation. The experience was uneven. My dinner of half moon ravioli was delicious but my husband's steak was fatty and tough. The service was spotty and obvious to us was some kind of conflict about wait staff and who covered our table. We had long waits between service. Too bad we won't return.
Always a treat
Celestino is not only a great restaurant, they are consistently outstanding. I have been there many times and they never disappoint. Cologne to and his staff are all seasoned and provide great service. A real treat.

Really great food, but the wine choices were subpar. $40 for what would be bottle a $10 bottle of wine anywhere else is not worth it!
Always consistently wonderful
Hard to top excellence but this restaurant does it every time. Never had a meal that wasn't the most incredible, and the service is stellar.
Great local gathering place
The food and the service was wonderful, and I was happily surprised to find that even with a full house, our table area was very quiet. I had not been to Celestino's in some time, and I am happy that they are doing so well. They deserve to !

Love that you have people who speak Italian and know of Italian cuisine. Wonderful pappardelle!
My husband and I went to Celestino's for Dine LA week. It is one of our favorite local restaurants. After receiving our menus, we noticed that there was no mention for the Dine LA special. After we asked, a Dine LA menu was given to us. We then noticed that at least two other customers had to ask for the Dine LA menus and were mildly irritated. We actually ordered off their regular menu. Although, we will dine there again, we will probably not go during Dine LA week.
We really did enjoy everything. Excellent!
Once again, we enjoyed the food and we sat outside and that was delightful. We found the noise level in the restaurant itself really too loud for us. Naturally,, we were there at 7:00 pm and that is a busy time, so the noise level was understandable. But it was very nice to have the option of being on the terrace. The food was terrific, especially the pasta dish we shared. And the wait staff were excellent. Very attentive and friendly.
Excellent Italian Food
Great food, wonderful service, good drinks... What more could one want from a super restaurant? Went early with kids for a family birthday dinner. There is no kids menu, but they will make plain pastas for youngsters. Our party ordered 4 different entrees and each one thought theirs was the best! I've never had a disappointing dish here!
We were very disappointed by the service, the maitre D' was very rude, ignored us completely for 30 minutes before even giving us the menu. Also we ordered an appetizer and he brought us another one claiming that they ran out of the one we ordered and he decided to replace it without asking our opinion with another one, that we didn't like at all and he charged it for us. I am disappointed at this Drago as I am customer to the other ones and I never had this bad experience in their other locations.

Went for New Years Eve, was fabulous!
New Years Eve Dinner
The service was good and the mood festive for New Years Eve. The appetizers and desserts were better than the main courses. The 'panna cotta' dessert was particularly good. Good to see more of a Southern Italian menu than at most Italian restaurants.
Fantastic Italian food!
We just discovered this place. It was amazing, from wine to service to food everything was so perfect. Very authentic Italian food, we will come back.
Excellent dinners! Ravioli with truffle sauce is special. Pasta dishes divine. Risotto with mushrooms, another with seafood devoured with pleasure. Even the simple green salad was especially good. Waited beyond our reservation time to obtain a table for 4 next to the wall but worth the wait.
Ownership is on the scene and very good a greeting and taking care of their customers. Most of the staff has been working here for years. Food superb and very Italian.

This has long been a favorite Pasadena restaurant. It is always delicious and the service is always great.
Loved my pasta entree but it should come out glistening not dull from sitting under a heat lamp. Limited dessert choices don't do justice to the rest of the menu and the welcome. Friendly service. Nice menu with many choices.
