Cantina Laredo - Austin Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time here. We went here because it was close to the Moody Theater where we were going for a concert later. The food was great, the happy hours specials were great, and the best frozen margaritas!!
The restaurant was very close to the hotel we stayed at that we were able to walk to dinner. We were seated right away and our sever was very quick to acknowledge us. It was very cool to watch him make the guacamole in front of us. The drinks and food was amazing.
It was fine, but I thought he food was uninspired. I expected more with all the OT stars.

Terrific waitress, good food, upscale Mexican. First time in Austin and would visit this restaurant again next time in town

Friendly and professional service. Excellent and authentic Mexican food. Always looking for an excuse to go back.
Great Mexican food in a tavern type atmosphere down the street from the JW Marriott. Food was authentic and service attentive. Will go back again!
I got to sit at the table in the corner of the restaurant on the corner of 3rd and Colorado. It was quiet there despite the crowd. The food was good and the service was too. Id recommend that table for a group of 4 plus for a meeting or something since it has hardly no distractions other than the window view.

The service was particularly attentive, our reservation party was promptly seated, and the food was perfect.
Upscale Mexican Food Restaurant
The décor and ambiance enhance this upscale Mexican food restaurant. My wife & I both ordered the Enchiladas Veracruz and loved it. The enchiladas were not smothered in verde sauce that often happens at other Mexican restaurants. They were lightly sprinkled with tomatoes, lettuce, corn chips & particles of cheese - not the melted kind at other restaurants. Rice & fresh cooked vegetables accompanied. Our overall dining experience was outstanding.
Love this place-Delicious Food Always!
I have been to Cantina Laredo only a couple times, but the food has always been so delicious and very fresh and always hot when it is delivered to the table. I love their drinks and food selections! Highly recommend for a great downtown spot with authentic Mexican food.
I have not ever written a negative review, this is a first, but I promised our group I would. Saturday night, concert at ACL Live and they were not prepared, not even close. Overwhelmed wait staff, slow bar, slow food...and as it turns out, not very good (had to send one and should have sent two plates back) and very expensive food. Not even a sympathetic manager to the plight of the entire restaurant. Too bad. I will not return
Great margaritas and servers!
Kevin, our server was really sweet and patient while the rest of our party arrived. The margaritas were delicious!!! I was not impressed by the guacamole though and the food was average. I did love the queso Blanco though! Would go back for drinks and appetizers!
Always a great time coming here, nice environment, friendly staff, wonderful food!

Food not very good...
We went during the afternoon on Christmas Eve, so that may have been why they food just wasn't that good.
No longer my favorite
I have been to Cantina Laredo several times through the years and always had an awsome time. This times was one of the worst ive ever had. It was my wifes birthday and due to bad she had a horrible time. Our friends that attended also had a horrible time. We saw the waiter twice, proper glasses for adult beverages werent avalible and when glasses arrive they had a horrible smell of old dish water. I ordered a steak and it never came, somehow someone forgot to even cook it. I finally got the steak once the rest of my friends finished thier meals

By far the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant.
We dined at Cantina Laredo as a party of 10 on a Sunday night where the restaurant was only about 60%-70% full but yet the service was very slow. The server were fairly quick about bringing the appetizers not too long after we ordered but they took almost an hour after we finished to bring out our entrees. Our server apologized for the slow service but the place was not even that busy when we were dining there. The Relleno De Camarones entrée was tasty but only lukewarm as if it had been sitting out for awhile before our waiter got around to bringing it to our table (I'm sure it would have been delicious had I gotten it right when it was prepared form the kitchen). Others in our party had the same comments regarding the temperature of their entrees upon arrival. We had all ordered margaritas and they were obviously watered down - when we complained to the manager about it, he was good about bringing us another round on the house that were much better. All in all, it was very mediocre at best. We probably would have had a much better experience eating at one of the many other Mexican restaurants in Austin.
Took a group from out of town- everything was ready, on time and accommodating. Food was better than most and service was outstanding.
We had reservations for a table of 8 on a very busy Thursday evening due to many events in town. Almost the entire restaurant was booked. 1. Our table was much too small for our party! 2. The restaurant was way under staffed for the number of bookings. 3. While very sweet and like able our server was awful. It was his 3rd night and had no help. The food was excellent! The manager comped our meals which was much appreciated after a 3 hour ordeal. I believe on a normal night this restaurant would be fine and the food is very good. However, it is poorly managed and I wouldn't recommend it on a busy night.
Great food. Staff pleasant
Had the red snapper and it was unique and tasty. Would have given the food a five star if they had more beer choices and variety.
Service was slow better tex mex and ambiance elsewhere
Great for Groups
I took my team to lunch yesterday as an appreciation and it was perfect for the 8 of us. Service was fantastic and the food was really great! The music was a bit loud but if that's my only complaint, then that's not bad. I've been here numerous times and have had a pleasant experience every time.

Poor service- we were two and our waiter had a table of 10 so we got the bad end of the stick. Order was wrong and cold. He did offer to put in a new one but it took so long to continue to get his attention I was just done. Food is way over priced for the quality and atmosphere. Tried to order a margarita but he brought the check instead, not attentive bad listening skills.
Decent food. Overwhelmed staff
The food and the drinks were good, not great. Unfortunately the staff was completely overwhelmed. Took over 20 minutes between drink order and food order. The first round of drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive. The second round of drinks never came (we did not get charged). The kitchen was able to get our tacos out in a short amount of time, so props to those folks.
Dinning for Pride
Have often visited cantina Laredo always enjoy the food. This last visit wasn't disappointing in the good department however the atmosphere was darker and less upbeat as before. Prices seem to have increased and the crowd was a lot thinner than befor
Good food and great marguerites always make for a FUN Night out! The top shelf guacamole was delicious! The fajitas and enchiladas were super. Service was appreciated and kept the night flowing.
Still one of our favorite downtown spots.
We've been eating at the downtown Austin Cantina Laredo for over 5 years. Back then you had to have a reservation well in advance, but now it's easy to walk in with a modest group. Today, as then, the food and service is top notch. We do miss some of the older menu items, particularly the steaks, because those set Cantina Laredo apart from the thousand other Mexican restaurants in the area. Nowadays it's a solid establishment which provides a great springboard to kick off a night in the old warehouse district.
I really wanted to love it
The table-side guacamole was great and our waiter was fantastic. Sadly, the ceviche and entres were underwhelming. Not terrible, by no means, but likely best for a happy hour.
Would not dine again
Our margaritas had melted by the time they were brought out to us, the queso tasted like it came out of a jar, and the entrees were mediocre at best. Slow service and for the price, not worth it.

wait staff was very attentive without being overbearing. Food was mixed; ceviche was good, enchiladas came out lukewarm and one tortilla was very tough. Don't plan to go back
Decent food, but inconsistent service
A good experience the previous day at lunch (attentive, knowledgeable service, a window table, and really good enchiladas) had me decide to try it again for dinner when we could enjoy a margaritas as well. The food was still good, but the margaritas ($11-$12per) were so-so, and the service had slipped noticeably. Even the manager seemed more interested in what was on the television in the bar than what was going on in the rest of the restaurant, including a probably-new server who could have used some help and better training.

Went here for Mother's Day with a large family group, and while they did seem overly rushed for the number of people in the restaurant, they were accommodating. The chilaquiles were really good, although the bunuelo they paired with it wasn't the best. Also, if your brunch meal comes with a complimentary drink make sure you ask for it as I was told by my waiter "I can't read minds." Would try this restaurant again for dinner.
I was disappointed with my experience. Even though I had reservations for a group of 10, no one was expecting us. We had a very short break for lunch and wanted to eat quickly. I talked up CL as a great place to eat, so everyone was excited. We had to wait almost 10 minted just to be seated even though only two other tables were full. It took quite a while to take our orders and by he time we got our food, we only had 15 minutes to eat. We were all late for our conference we paid thousands of dollars to attend. I will still come back, but I was disappointed because there was no energy and no one there seemed to want to be there or move promptly.
Working downtown, we have gone to Cantina Laredo a few times. The food is always ok and usually the service was good. On this trip it was very average and the service was nothing to write home about. Took 14 minutes for someone to take our drink order and then several more minutes to get our drinks. Once we did order things seemed to flow much better. The food was OK, but ordered the Tacos de Barbacoa and received the Tacos De Carnitas. At this point it was a moot point. As usual the Margaritas were very good.
Forgettable Brunch Bunch
I met with my girlfriends at Cantina Laredo for Sunday afternoon brunch. I ordered the French toast and it was average. I ate 3 toast triangles and left the other three behind. The best thing I ate was the salsa. My friends had nachos and the enchiladas but neither meal was appetizing. The service was dismal. We waited to get drinks, refills, to place out order, to get the check and we felt abandoned for the large party that our new waiter also serviced. I made a reservation here because its all I could find on Easter Sunday with our late plans. I should have taken the hint because none of the popular brunch spots were available so I should not be surprised that this spot was dissapointing. I won't be returning.
good food, poor service
the place was about 2/3 empty and all the waiters were standing around talking so after 5-10 minutes of waiting for anyone to take out drink order we had to go to the host stand to find out if we had a server. from there the food and drinks came out fast. the food was better than the last time we were here. at the end of the meal when clearing the table, our waitress spilled an ice tea all over the table and it got my husbands feet pretty wet which was annoying. they need to get their service act together.
