Café Sebastienne Ratings and Reviews
Not to be Forgotten
Sometimes we forget about Cafe Sebastianne because it's been in KC for a while BUT each time we go back, it's as good or better than we remembered! The food was amazing, pasta and chicken and flank steak! And they stock Ransom Gin!

Lunch with my office
Excellent first-time visit for my co-workers. I raved about the Reuben so much that everyone at our table ordered one. AMAZING, as always. In my opinion, the best Reuben I've ever had. Thanks for a great visit.
Great place for any occasion
Café Sebastienne is always on point. You can order with confidence knowing anything on the menu will be great. Cocktails are great too.
Cafe Sebastienne is one of our favorite Kansas City restaurants...and again last Friday night we were not disappointed. The wait staff here is "5 star"....most have been at the restaurant for many years ... so professional but not stuffy... they handle everything efficiently with attention to detail. The food was really good...I started with the grilled asparagus salad with poached egg, perfectly cook, the asparagus had that crunch and when you cut into the egg the yellow of the yolk was runny enough to make a great dipping sauce for the asparagus. My husband ordered the arancini....small rice filled meat balls...melted in your mouth. We could have made a meal on those alone. We shared the pork chop with mashed potatoes and snap peas. Again perfectly prepared. Dessert was a wonderful cake with raspberries between the layers and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The perfect end to a wonderful meal...The chef here consistently prepares food that is outstanding. She is one of the best in the city.

One of my KC favorites, the only negative is the noise level. All of the interior surfaces are hard, so noise level is high.
By far, one of the best restaurants in this city!
Always consistently one of the best restaurants in this city. Food is excellent, the staff is attentive and the atmosphere is the best. You can expect the best and it always follows through. At the top of our list always!
We had a late Easter lunch (2:00 reservation) our food was wonderful and the service great. We were a little disappointed that the dessert menu was short but that was because we were late dining. Over all I will go again and recommend to friends.
Cafe Sebastienne remains a top restaurant!
Consistently, Cafe Sebastienne serves the best food in town. The menu always has new items; it is always interesting; and it is always really delicious. The service is excellent--especially if you have Dale.
We made a mistake with our reservation (yes, it was OUR mistake); nevertheless, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. This exemplifies an all-around top-notch experience of great service, great food, and great ambience. I hadn't been there in several years, but will definitely return.
We made a reservation for their rush hour. We were seated 30 min. after our noon reservation. As usual, the seating was tight and the noise level was high. Service was slow in taking our order, delivering our food, getting drink refills and getting our check. Food was great. I recommend this place but suggest you avoid peak brunch time.
Took my wife and kids for brunch and this place did not disappoint. The food was top notch and the service was second to none. The ambiance was great the kids enjoyed all the art all over the walls. I would recommend making an appointment as seating is limited and it fills up quickly. Best part was after eating we took a stroll through the museum to see some of the exibitions they had going on. Best of all the museum is free. Prices for the meal were right in line with the quality of ingredients and service. Take your friends and family, or even that special someone and you'll definitely win them over. I'll be back again.
Vibrant atmosphere and delicious fare
Every bite was delicious. Great care was taken in the service as well as food presentation and
I took my girl there for brunch on Valentine's Day. She's a brunch fanatic and being able to look at art before eating really started our day off great.
Underwhelmed (this time)
I've been here before and this time I was less impressed than in past visits. The food was acceptable but not amazing, and the service just wasn't good. We seemed to be one of only a couple of tables our server had, and we still had to repeatedly flag her down (to request the dessert menu, for example) She never inquired how our entrees were, didn't bring sugar with the coffee and never returned so I could request it. Overall, was rather disappointed.
This beautiful cafe delivers the finest lunch experience in Kansas City! The menu reflects the imagination of Janet Ross and the service is of the highest level. No visitor to Kansas City should miss it!

Disappointed in the service
Disappointed in the service. We were never checked on after food was delivered. Finished our first drink and was not asked if we'd like another (which we did!) They were busy but I'm sure this is a typical Friday night. It appeared he would prefer to spend his time with other diners!
Restaurant Week Experience
The boneless short ribs on the luncheon menu were prepared perfectly.
food was great. service was good enough. museum was very nice
Consistently a most reliable food choice
Sebastienne is consistently a Kansas City fine dining gem. The abiance of a contemporary art museum is special, and the staff never makes you feel rushed. Sit and enjoy an ever changing menu that never fails to deliver. While the menu isn't extensive, it will have 8-10 options excellently prepared. One caution: Portions are not large. The focus is on quality and execution, very European in this respect.
Favorite restaurant in town.
Get there 15-30 minutes early and spin through the gallery. It's impressive, but small enough to be consumed in a brief tour. Not overwhelming at all.
Long time Cafe fan!
I have been a member of the Kemper Museum for years & love the elegant Cafe inside. Wonderful food: offerings change frequently. Fantastic service: organization would not allow it to be otherwise. Two sections to choose from so you can choose a table next to paintings on the walls, or a table in the atrium with glass ceiling. Prices are always fair too: entrees prices are equal to or less than other nice restaurants in the area.
The food was amazing. The service was fabulous. The only downside is sitting in the open atrium was a bit loud if you wanted to have conversation. Sitting inside may be more conducive to conversation.

I liked that when we arrived they let us take a few minutes to see the exhibit across the hallway..charles was a nice waiter.
We were treated like royalty! Great wine. We split a garden salad, and it was delicious and plentiful. Quail was exquisite. My wife enjoyed scallops! Service and art gallery ambiance made for a delightful experience!
love the food
The food is wonderful. Setting is beautiful. Noise is terrible. We are all in our 60's and we could barely hear each other seated in the courtyard. Next time I will call and request to not be seated in courtyard. Usually we go for lunch and then the noise is not so much of a problem.

Loved the food BUT the noise level in the outer room was awful. We had 6 people and we could not hear the server talking to our table. Would NEVER accept a table that room again. Also, someone from the kitchen ( not our server) brought me the wrong entree and suggested I keep it and he would bring me a "sample" of the dish I ordered. It made no sense to me!!! Our server finally brought the entree I ordered.
It had been awhile since my husband and I had dined here, so we were a little apprehensive about maintenance of the very high quality dining experience we'd had in the past. Our fears were unfounded. We had multi-layered taste experiences, just as we'd remembered. I had the seared scallops. I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert. Superb!!
Business Lunch in quiet corner
We had a great business lunch and a quick visit to the museum, on a rainy afternoon. We were not rushed and the food was excellent. When we asked to be seated at a quiet corner -- they accommodated us with the perfect spot.
My wife and I enjoy Sebastienne's comfort and friendliness, punctuated by great food and and wonderful service.
Great place for Sunday brunch
We took some friends to brunch on Sunday and had the best time. Our server was extremely helpful since one in our party had several dietary restrictions. The food was wonderful. Great experience that we will definitely do again.

Excellent as usual.
My favorite place for brunch. They are very gluten free friendly. Had a veggie omelette and a delicious St. Germaine cocktail. Service was great.
