Cafe La Haye Ratings and Reviews
Sonoma Special Place
My wife and I chose Cafe La Haye based on the Open Table reviews and we were not disappointed. Upon checking in at the Lodge at Sonoma, the desk agent asked if we had dinner plans, and when we mentioned Cafe La Haye she said she was a local and her Dad said it was best in town, I agree. Being seated and checked on by an owner is always a special appearance, but it was clear that the service staff "got it" and couldn't have been more gracious and competent. The food was creative and very professionally prepared. Don't expect an overdone dining room, but it works just fine with this level of food and service. I will definitely return.

Our dinner at Cafe la Haye was one of the best during our California trip, on fact one of the best meals we have had in a long time. All at our table felt so, between the filet mignon and the snapper, we all wanted to come back the next night! Superb service and delicious- deserves all its accolades!
Clean but flavorful taste, everything tasted like "spring" :)
Great food, awesome find!
LaHaye Cafe was a great find. They do food right! The menu is not large but what they have is delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant decor is unique, clean and lends to ambiance of the evening. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

special meals every time
we love to come to café la haye whenever we're in town and can get a reservation - whether it's for two or more. the ambiance is not fussy or elegant but the food and service are the stars...which is what matters to us. the mushroom pastry dish was delicious and the duck entrée was beautiful and so tasty. my date had the pork chop which was a generous portion that was cooked to perfection. we shared the butter lettuce salad which was a nice beginning to the meal - so fresh and crisp. the menu is always so special and we delight in the chef's offering each time we come.
Very quaint with great food.

Still a wonderful place to dine
La Haye remains a quality dining experience. A limited menu continues to deliver well prepared and imaginative food. Not a fussy or frilly kitchen but straight ahead food preparation, a top choice for eating in Sonoma.
Always the best!
Thank you Ester, we love Cafe La Haye so much!!! You guys never disappoint & the food was delicious per usual;)

The menu was limited, but the food was very good. Ventilation was poor and our clothing smelled afterwards. Ambience was so-so.
Simply The Best
For 15 years, Cafe LeHaye has been our favorite restaurant in the Sonoma Valley. Newer, trendier, fancier, pricier establishments - we try them all and keep coming back to Sol and Company for the great relief of extraordinary food served with care.
Less is great
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Cafe La Haye. Their menu and wine list were simple yet complete. The preparation of the food was excellent and the service exhibited just the right amount of attention. The restaurant was intimate and tasteful. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Very interesting menu with some unusual choices that are well prepared. It's truly a wonderful little find in the town of Sonoma where the pickings are slim.
Consistently great food, innovative menu
Many visits here and always enjoy the meal. Excellent service, personal and not too many interventions. Menu changes so always a surprise. Tagliatelle with lamb succulent as was the fresh fish. Never overbearing, focus is on the food. We try to go early to avoid noise levels when all tables full. Tiny spot, but our favorite in Sonoma.

This is my new favorite spot in Sonoma (deserving of their Michelin star). The service was prompt and friendly. My fish was superb as was the risotto. The decor is lovely and private. The menu is very small and limited. Hence, I would make sure they have something you like before booking it. Very highly recommended.
The restaurant executives changed the menu in a surprising way: half of the main courses were now labeled as "a la carte". This forced you to order some side dish to accompany the steak for example. The waitress did not mention that a side dish was good for TWO people. We had enough potatoes for 4 people! We doubt that we will return; the restaurant was already pricey enough before their greedy change.
We love Cafe la Haye!
We went to cafe la haye 10 years ago while in Sonoma~we returned to find it just as wonderful as before ! The swordfish was exceptional as was the yuzu cheesecake ! It's a small cafe so be sure to book early !
Haven't been here in a few years, but it was as good as ever. The owner is always there and it shows. The food was wonderful and service was very good. This place is reasonably priced considering the location and quality of the food.
Small place .
You'll need reservations when things are hopping . The pork chop is huge . I had a very fine Pan Roasted Stuffed Quail with Swiss chard . Crispy Portobello Mushroom with Polenta appetizer is another great dish . Regular menu has only a few items , but you have to see the daily specials board daily . Good staff . Everything cooked to order . Ours was pretty quick coming out .
Welcoming Neighborhood Spot
We sometimes forget that this little gem is within blocks of our house. From the warm greeting at the door through the completion of our meal, my husband and I were both pleased with Cafe LaHaye evening.
Second chance a good bet
We had been here before & were underwhelmed, but decided to give it another try. We're glad we did. I had the Restaurant Week prix fixe which was a very nice braised lamb dish preceded by burrata on arugula and followed by any of the wonderful desserts... in my case a memorable flourless chocolate cake. Honestly, neither the appetizer nor the entree were anything worth writing home about, but certainly worth the special price. My husband ate from the a la carte menu and had great oysters, the best pork chop he's ever had in his entire life and butterscotch pudding. All was delicious & presented seamlessly by our server. She also recommended a zinfandel which complimented our dinner perfectly. We're believers in second chances, and can hardly wait to give it a third try.

Our server was really pretty cold the whole night, but the food was outstanding and even her co-servers were great. Maybe she just was having a bad night, because the manager came over a number of times to make sure we were ok.

Food, service and ambiance as good as it gets! A small, congenial restaurant which shows tremendous pride in everything it does to make sure its dinner guests are well taken care of and fed well. We arrived a little late and our table wasn't quite ready but the manager gave us a complimentary glass of wine. Very gracious in every regard. We decided to ask for two of the four stools that are at the open table facing into the kitchen area which we were so glad we did. It was amazing to watch the culinary artistics and teamwork that went on in an area that could not have been larger then 6 by 6 feet. A limited printed menu online, but a wonderful array and variety of daily specials was available. We both had the pork chop with chorizo butter which was outstanding. Very friendly and not over bearing service from our waitress who was very knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions regarding the tasty meal. This wonderful restaurant was an exemplary example of a fine dining experience in the wine country. We recommend it enthusiastically but do make sure you make reservations ahead of time because its small and fills up weeks in advance, especially on weekends. We will definitely return whenever we are in the area.

Great food. Friendly and skilled service. Very attractive prices. Wonderful owner. A must go!
Only get here , two , maybe three times a year . My homemade pasta w/ sausage/ Manilla Clams was a real treat .These types of shellfish dishes , seafood soup , cioppino , linguine with clams are a weakness when holding the menu ,for me .. Homemade pasta is an experience in itself . Nice size clams . Her scallops cooked perfectly . Most entrees under or around 25 . My pasta , I, think 22 . Off season and weekdays , you can get in , short notice . Friendly gent at the door always remembers us .Very nice , attentive service . Chocolate Silk Cake .Dense and deadly MMmm .
Mediocre service and food. Yuzu cheesecake was very good.

We enjoyed this dinner in all aspects. The spicy carrot soup, the quail, the cheesecake, which was very light and tasty, and tagerine sorbet were outstanding. The coffee was best we have ever tasted . Overall an excellent meal with great service.

Exquisitely prepared from beginning to end, a romantic dinner at Cafe La Haye was perfect for our postponed Valentine's Day night out. The stuffed quail was ample and the pork chop juicy. Butter lettuce was lovely. We asked that the music be turned down and the owner complied right away. What a gem!
A Great place to eat!
The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was really nice and made our experience there great.
Superb food and service
We enjoy this restaurant so much. We are always provided a good table and friendly welcome. The food is carefully prepared and beautifully presented. It is not a large menu but SO tasty. Try the desserts too!
Excellent food..a couple recommendations
We truly enjoyed our dining experience. Our only suggestions are to expand the menu a bit and turn on the fans for some air circulation. The corner that we were in was stifling.
Off its game
I hadn't been to Cafe La Haye for almost a year and looked forward to the food and experience again. On a Thursday night, they were off their game. The server seemed annoyed that our table of four had too many questions about the specials and the food was a disappointment. Norwegian cod on smashed potatoes was overcooked and I found it hard to tell the fish from the potatoes. A tangerine sorbet for dessert had hardly any tangerine flavor. Others' meals were acceptable, but not up to the delicious standard I'd come to expect. It looks like it'll be another long wait before returning.
A perfect spot
Cafe La Haye is a place to enjoy excellent food, with unpretentious but informed service. If someone is coming to town, it is the first choice for that special meal.
Cafe LaHaye Shines Again
We've eaten at Cafe LaHaye perhaps a dozen times, and it has been consistently good. We ate there again the other night, and once again CLH did not disappoint. The food is imaginative, leverages local and fresh ingredients extremely well, and is plentiful enough not to leave you hungry. The service too is consistently helpful and unpretentious, and the predominantly white two-level room, which boasts perhaps 10 or so tables, is well-designed and charming. The pork chop -- which doesn't sound like it would be a stand-out in a classy joint like this -- somehow manages to be both crisp and moist at the same time, and the crispy portobello mushroom starter was even better than advertised. Finally, the wine list is extensive, and while not cheap, isn't so pricey that you feel gouged. Can't recommend this restaurant more highly.
Fabulous food and service
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Sonoma. The food is always seasonal and wonderful. The petrale sole was perfectly cooked with a fabulous sauce. The chestnut soup was superb. This is a quiet, tiny adult restaurant. You can actually talk with others at your table -- a big plus. My guests loved the experience. Be sure to make a reservation.
Cafe La Haye
A long time favorite of ours. Although the menu is limited, we've never been disappointed with the preparation and quality of the food. We're amazed how such delicious dishes can be prepared in such a small kitchen. I highly recommend Café La Haye to anyone who appreciates fine dining!
