One of THE BEST restaurants in Malibu! The food is beyond amazing! Seriously best food ever! Tacos are to die for. The whole vibe and dining experience is top shelf! Our waiter was so amazing. Loved him! everyone was friendly. Not one negative thing to say about this place. My new favorite spot for lunch!

It has a large, dog-friendly outdoor patio. Menu not especially Cuban, as one might infer from the name, but my salmon was surprisingly good. A fun spot to hang out.

Dined on March 6, 2016

We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was not too busy yet. We sat outside since it was a nice day. Our waitress was sweet and her service was very good. I had the corn appetizer and would recommend to anyone who goes. I had the Cubano sandwich. I will dream about this sandwich until I can go back. It was one of the best Cuban sandwiches I have ever had. Our overall experience was relaxed and very enjoyable. I can't wait to go back.

WHO's reservation is more important?

vip
Dined on February 28, 2016

Our server was pleasant and efficient but I was very put off by the hostess. We had a reservation and when we were being taken to our seats the hostess seated us at a table for two in the middle of the restaurant. There was a nearby booth available and I asked if we could sit there. She said, "no, we have a reservation." I assumed it was a reservation for four and since we were only two she didn't want to give us the seats. Fine. But then, she seated a couple there. Is it because the couple was a man and a woman vs. us (two women?) I felt we were discriminated against. The food was just okay. The mojitos pricey but good. We had an out of control screaming toddler at a table beside us, which also put a damper on the meal. The sink was out of order in the ladies room so I had to go into the men's room to wash my hands.

Great place - turn the music down

Dined on February 22, 2016

We have been to Cafe Habana before and have always enjoyed excellent food and great service so this visit was no surprise. We had plans with another couple who had never been to the restaurant before and they loved it as well! The only recommendation I would give is to turn the music down a little. It was very hard to talk over it - the restaurant is noisy to begin with but when you add the loud music it's a little over the top. Thank you!

Lovely Lunch Spot in Malibu

Dined on January 30, 2016

The service here is delightful - very attentive. The ambiance on the patio is great (especially for out of town guests who want to be outdoors - even in the winter months - there are heaters strategically placed above most seating areas outside). The cocktail list, although slightly expensive (common for the neighborhood) had a lot of variety to choose from. The food is delicious - try the Cubano, the shrimp tacos, the goat cheese quesadilla, and of course - the churro ice cream dessert! I will be back - and so will my future out of town guests. :)

Nice staff, food ok

Dined on January 17, 2016

Enjoyed my leisurely dinner. Staff was really super attentive and willing however I think the food is over priced. The recommended kale salad with add on chicken was $20 and two tacos with bean and rice was the same price. Food preparation and flavors were nothing special or unique. Nice place for a drink and appetizers when in the area. Would not go out of the way for the experience.

Delicious Cuban Fusion with a bit of a LA attitude

vip
Dined on October 31, 2015

I went here for my 50th birthday lunch. The best patio. Great Corn and great drinks. The menu is yummy, but pricey. The kale salad is literally just rough Kale. The churro dessert is the best thing I ever ate in my entire life. Our server was such a snob, not friendly. There is no need for that. There are plenty of trendy and foody restaurants in this town with excellent service, there is no excuse for that. Just because it is Malibu, does not mean they have to treat you like they are doing you a favor by eating there. Maybe they need more complete meals on the menu and explain it. I have not been there for a year, because it is always that attitude. I know who owns the place, but come on!!!!

Love this place. Excellent location in Malibu. Food is insane. Started (as usual) with the corn. While I eat a whole ear, I discovered that they'll also split an ear, each half receiving its own "stick." Nice touch. The calamari is incredibly light. Wonderful avocado mayo dip. Fish tacos were great. And had to have a side of the plantains. So much food, but zero regrets.

Nice little gem of a place...even if it doesn't serve Cuban food [as its name suggests]. While it has absolutely no view, they have made up for it with a lovely patio that makes one forget it is tucked in a shopping area off PCH. Our party is six enjoyed fish, steak, and shrimp tacos, the brown rice bowl, cheese enchiladas and the taco salad with shrimp. All were deemed delicious and consumed with gusto...as we're the yummy chips and salsa. We look foward to another visit the next time we are in the area.

Great food! The corn is a must have for the table. We had dinner for my husbands birthday. There was eight in our party. The waitress was bad. Took forever to get something, like another drink. The service could improve but the food is fantastic.

We keep coming back

Dined on August 15, 2015

We enjoy the atmosphere and location. Great for a relaxed meal and quiet enough that you can carry on a conversation without shouting. Whoever we bring always has nothing but great things to say about the food & drinks. Doesn't matter what you order you will be pleased. As far as I'm concerned, the grilled corn is my reason for being here.

Noisy

Dined on August 14, 2015

Why do restaurants think it is ok to have a loud environment? It is not conducive to conversation. The traffic sounds from the PCH and the music forces everyone to speak louder which adds to the mayhem. If they tried controlling the noise I would go back.

Way too crowded

vip
Dined on July 27, 2015

We were seated indoors about 20 minutes after out reservation time. Otherwise, we were told it would an additional 30 minutes for an outdoor table. Which is the point when dining in Malibu. The bar service and the wait service were very slow. We had to ask multiple times for waters and more salsa. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant.

Snobby Malibu

Dined on July 5, 2015

I made the reservation on Open Table, and was not aware I had to specifically request patio dining. Upon arriving for our party of 4 on time (even a few minutes early), we were asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside. When we requested outside, we were told we would have to wait for 30 minutes min because they had a large party with a reservation coming 45 minutes later, who had requested the patio. We never received a clear explanation as to why a party arriving so long after ours affected our seating when there appeared to be plenty of options for tables that would turn over in that amount of time, but we proceeded to sit inside - the only party inside. We then received very sub par service - never once being asked for a refill on our coffee or cocktails. Very disappointing.

One of my faves in Malibu.

Dined on March 7, 2015

The decor, spot on authentic Cuban with a classy flair of Malibu attitude giving the place a rustic but new atmosphere. Great energy and flow as you sit inside or on the patio, you are in the mix instantly. Stupendous food quality, taste and presentation. Drink menu....glorious. A "must eat" location in the Bu.
