Bricco - Harrisburg Ratings and Reviews
From first course to dessert, the food was wonderful, imaginative, and offered layer upon layer of flavors. As out of town visitors, we would have been happy to eat at Bricco each night of our stay to sample the many inviting dishes on the meme. Service was a bit slow, but that was our only complaint.
Good meal with some misses
The pizza and risotto were excellent. The prawn appetizer with edamame puree was mediocre and overpriced at two prawns for $14. The bread serving is often a harbinger of what is to come in a restaurant. In this case the entrees were better than the bread which was served cold. Not room temperature. Cold. Why does this happen? Warm bread is best but cold as if it head been in the refrigerator is unacceptable.
Best meal we've had out lately
My husband was traveling for work. I was along for support. We were told about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It was within walking distance of our hotel, so very convenient. He had a bean soup that was delicious! We make bean soup at home, but ours is nothing like this. We now need to try to figure out the recipe. I had a very crisp, very tasty salad of bibb, apples, candied walnuts and blue cheese. The salad dressing was a champagne vinaigrette that really set off the flavors. For the next course, he had a braised short rib that was also delicious. There was a crust on top that really gave it an extra dimension. I had the risotto of the day (pancetta was in there, yum). It was just what I wanted -- very cheesy and cooked perfectly. For dessert, our waiter recommended we change our order. We are very glad we did. The ricotta cheesecake was a great way to end our meal. It was creamy but still had texture. The next night, we contemplated going back again! That was our best meal in Harrisburg.

The food is always very creative and seasonal! The staff is also very knowledgeable!
Service was very attentive. Great creative drinks before dinner. Appetizers were very good and very large, so order one for 2-4 people. Short ribs were excellent with a really nice demiglace but the portion was a touch small; the garlic mashed potatoes were definitely a highlight. Striped bass was excellent with a very nice light sauce, but the mushrooms served with it were chewy and badly over-salted to the point of being inedible. Gelato for desert was full of ice crystals. The entire meal was very close to being memorable, but too many things were just a bit off. On a different, less busy night, and with a bit more attention to the small details in food preparation, Bricco could be a very special place for dinner.
Must try for foodies
Food is excellent. If ambience was better I'd give this restaurant a five. Could use a makeover
fine service, fine ambiance, very good food
met a couple for dinner before a concert, had reservations and were seated promptly, good food, nice wine list, fine service, will definitely come back
Small City Charm
Creative menu; presentation was well done. Setting was nice, though, as a visitor from a much larger east coast city, the neighborhood felt deserted, which detracted a bit (except parking was a breeze). Good selection of beers and very friendly staff.
Fine downtown dining .. without a budget
It would be considered an expensive restaurant, especially for Harrisburg. It was very good, but I would not consider it pretentious at all. It really has 3 levels of dining - there is a very informal area near the bar, or you can sit in the bar area or at the bar itself or opt for the dining room. Menu is eclectic and varied, including a delicious looking pizza. Nightly specials, good fish choices and steaks. Something for everyone. The location isn't conducive to parking, street or garage parking only and street parking is limited and expensive. Go on a Sunday around 5pm, park in lot across the street for free. It's worthy of a visit, we will probably go back and try the pizza some night.

We have dined at Bricco many times over the years. The food and service are always very good. One of Harrisburg's best restaurants.
My husband and I dined at Bricco on a recent Saturday evening. We wanted to have dinner here after our adult daughter raved about it. She was treated to dinner at Bricco to celebrate and accomplishment. I ordered the beet salad & papardelle with duck sugo-fabulous! My husband thought his swordfish entree was delicious. We also had the burrata with salsa verde as an appetizer. The burrata itself was a bit bland, but the salsa verde was very good; maybe they can add more sauce. Our waiter was excellent! We will definitely return!
Always good food at Briccos
Dinner was good, as usual. We especially appreciate the oysters at Bricco and if you go during happy hour they are only 1 dollar each!
Good Downtown Harrisburg Restaurant
Great service and good quality food at a reasonable price
I took my family there to celebrate my mother's birthday. The interior is warm and inviting and surprisingly roomy, which I hadn't guessed from looking at the outside. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful to us, as we were not that familiar with some of the dishes on the menu. The food was excellent; I had a bite from everyone's plate and it all was very good. Overall, it was very enjoyable experience.

Fantastic food. The Berkshire Pork rigatoni was amazing!
Was our first time dining here and would honestly say that was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Service was very good but a little rigid in my opinion. Was by the kitchen so fairly noisy but well worth it for the food. Price was a little on high side on appetizers.
Excellent dining experience.
I took my sister and two nieces out for a nice dinner. Uncle Buck did good.
I ordered the daily specials. Doubt I would ever have paid $30 for the stripped bass. It was nothing special. But the parsnip soup was great. The rosemary bread w/white bean hummus was excellent (I had seconds). My cocktail was delicious and the environment was nice. Service was very pleasant, prompt but we did not feel rushed.
Mozzarella bruschetta- simple yet flavor ...
Mozzarella bruschetta- simple yet flavorful. Sweet potato ravioli- delicious; a dish that will stand out against many others; subtle savory elements but sweet enough it could have almost been dessert. Sea bass (fish of the day) perfectly cooked and well paired with the mushroom, leek, red pepper accompaniment that complimented the cold winter evening but was fresh and not heavy. The short ribs & roasted root vegetables were as delicious ad always - it is no wonder the dish has been a staple on the menu for so many years. The service was friendly, attentive and helpful with the menu and selections without being intrusive. Overall another great meal at BRICCO.
A gem in downtown Harrisburg
We really enjoyed bricco on Valentine's Day weekend. Reservations necessary. We were seated away from the most active part of the restaurant so we were away from the noisier areas. Service was a little slow to start out but picked up as dinner progressed. We have the bruschetta/cheese appetizer, roasted beets to start and they were both great but definitely get bruschetta! The short ribs were FANTASTIC! Flank steak was good as was the lobster pasta. We will return for special occasions! You should go.
Great food, just not enough.
An 8 oz steak with a side of mushrooms costs about $32. It tastes great but it's not enough food to fill you up for dinner. I hoped the portions would be bigger.
Great for Business Groups
I have eaten here before when traveling for business - this time around, I selected Bricco for a group business dinner. As in the past, the food was great (a lot of great choices), the service was exceptional and most importantly, we were able to carry on a conversation with all guests at the table. Bricco did not let us down! When I am in the area again, this will be one spot on my list to return to.
A night on the town
My husband and I typically go away to a bed and breakfast for Valentine's day but this year we decided to attend the Great American Outdoors Show. We didn't want to miss out on the romantic dinner so I found Bricco online. We lucked out with the weather and we walked the 3 blocks from our hotel. The food and atmosphere were amazing and our server recommended a bottle of wine that was to die for. I wanted to go back the next day for more wine and oysters. We had our dessert to go and ate it for breakfast the next day. Some of the items were a little pricey but so worth it overall.
Great service and very accommodating to allergies
We had a special date night here with myself having gluten and dairy allergy and it was pleasant to have so many food options to choose from. The pork belly appetizer was DELICIOUS. I wish it was a meal option! We would return again.
Perfect After Show Spot
Relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Server was informative, timely and professional. Recommend the butter nut ravioli as an appetizer. Red Gulf fish was excellent over a bed of root vegetable puree. No room for dessert but will try lava cake next time.
Only good for happy hour
I've eaten here for happy hour and have really enjoyed it. However I went to dinner with my husband and was seated in a booth with another family at the end. This was so terrible and it was not even busy there were other tables open. additionally service was terribly slow over all it was a disappointing experience.
Great Experiences at Bricco
I have dined at Bricco twice, and had a great experience each time. I took my sister to Bricco to celebrate her birthday recently and it was wonderful. We had appetizers (cheese plate), entrees (branzino, and the lobster cavatappi), and dessert (an assortment), all of which was quite wonderful. The only items we did not thoroughly enjoy the dessert we had; it was extremely sweet and almost too rich. Otherwise everything was wonderful.
One of my very favorites in all of PA! For all of the reasons you select fine dining!
Sunday my family an I went to Bricco after The Nutcracker performance at Whittaker Center. We arrived at 4:30 just as the place opened. There were only a few patrons in the dining area yet service was slow. It took quite a while to be offered drinks and even longer to get them. We then waited far too long to place our orders and what seemed like an eternity to be served. Generally the food was so so at best and my eggplant parm was not eatable. The egg plant was horribly chewy - I had to spit it out. I ate the sauce with bread to have something to eat. I told the waiter about my experience and he said he was sorry and would tell the chef. And that was the end of that. No one offered to provide an alternative or credit. I paid for a meal I couldn't and did not eat. No more Bricco for us.
Excellent Night at Bricco
We decided to go to Bricco on short notice on a Saturday night expecting to run into a crowd. We were pleasantly surprised to have missed the rush and had a quiet night in a great environment. Great cheese board appetizer. Interesting variety. We got help with a wine selection from the manager after our rookie waitress suggested a "red" for our Boston Cut entree. Otherwise she was good, though she needed a little more training on the payment system. The Boston Cut feature was tremendous. The Barolo was well paired. Overall an excellent experience. We'll be back soon.
I'm from the Harrisburg area and had never been to Bricco before. After my sister recommended it - stating she's never had a bad meal there, I thought I'd give it a shot. Although, I thought the wine was overpriced, the food was excellent. We got an appetizer that was toasted bread with mozzarella and I had a roasted cauliflower/bacon/pepper pizza. The appetizer was delicious and we had someone come prepare it for us at our table (spread the mozzarella, drizzle the oil, etc). My pizza was exceptional too. It was roasted cauliflower with bacon and peppadew peppers on it. Delicious!! Not too oily or greasy, and the crust was just right (not too doughy nor too crunchy). The only con in my eyes was the wait time...I think the waiter gave a little too much time in between drink orders, appetizer orders and food orders. Otherwise, excellent meal and experience...will definitely recommend to friends, family and coworkers!

Bricco advertises they can prepare vegan food but the selections were minimal, the staff was uninformed, the chef was unimaginative, and the food was terrible.
Another fine dining experience
We enjoy dining at Bricco for various celebrations or before shows at the Whitaker . It is within walking distance from the parking garage at the Whitaker . The beet salad was very tasty and nicely seasoned. Our wine selection and portion was just right -we each ordered a Quartino. Our entree selections were the pork chop and the branzino. Both were prepared to our liking . The service was friendly, prompt and informative . Will return again.
Bricco is always our go to spot for quality food and service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always there, but never obtrusive. We had theatre tickets and the waitstaff made sure we were served promptly and were not late. Definitely recommended
Ashley is a Bad Waitress
The waitress Ashley, was rude and mean. She was stuck up and did not smile once the entire time. She treated my group of friends and I like a bunch of idiots. I did not feel welcomed and I will never ever return to Bricco. Olive Garden is much better.
we just love you bricco! especially those delicious gluten free rolls you brought out for me. you are a gem for our city.
Should have stopped at 3
This was my fourth visit, previously my food has always been excellent. On this visit my pork was overcooked and the brussels sprouts were over powered by the sauce they were in. Every other aspect of the evening was first class, but for me the food is the most important aspect of fine dining.

The food was excellent and we enjoyed that. I didn't know the wine I ordered was going to be $17!! I ordered a 9 oz glass of chardonnay. I think wine by the glass prices ought to be presented when taking the wine order. I agree with another review that I read, New York prices-Harrisburg fare. Even though I enjoyed the food, I probably won't come back.
Salad was acceptable, rest of our meal was amateurishly prepared, tasteless, and downright COLD. Severs were less than attentive and seemed irritated when we asked to return soup and entrees for hot ones. Ambiance was hopeful but overall a need for Chef Ramsey.
Definitely will return. Great food, nice service.
Delicious and creative food. Good service. This restaurant is relate to a culinary training program. Possibly a bit pricey for Harrisburg. I would go back and always pick on of the less expensive delicious meals.
