Bongos Cuban Cafe - Hard Rock Hotel Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
It was ok
The tables for two are so tiny, that your plates (they give you 2-3 plates for your meal) do not fit. Our salad arrived without dressing on it and it took a long time to get the dressing. The food was decent, but, honestly, not any better than the local Cuban place in my neighborhood. For the money, I expected more. A lot more.

food was horrible...we couldn't even finish it...and the waiter couldn't care less. horrible experience...will never go back.
Done, never going back
our resvtn was for 5:00 as we had 7pm tkts to a show. We were the 2nd table seated. We had no official waiter, so becz the bar was empty, the bar tender came around the bar to the table area and waited on us. This was fine, until the bar was filled, then so went our waiter attending to the bar customers. We had to ask other waiters, clean up people etc to assist us as we could not get the bartender's attention anymore. I have been to a Cuban restaurant hundreds of times after all it is Sofl. I have had hundreds of cups of black beans and white rice. When I tell you I had a cup of black water, and 13 beans I am not exaggerating. I took my fork to sift out however few beans there were in the cup. I called over a waiter, not ours of course because we didn't have one, and showed him the 13 beans in the cup. He apologized, took the cup away and brought back another cup. Of 13 beans. Are you freaking kidding me. done. We have been there 3 times, one of which was my husband's Christmas office party where the tab was $1000. done, never going back.
Not what I expected.
I had made reservations and requested to be seated on the top area inside, I was told ok sure when I got there the young lady that seated us said oh no I cant sit you there I mentioned I had requested to sit there when I made reservations she just looked at me like I was speaking a different language.
I can't say enough about Bongos. It was incredible in every category. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was fantastic. The food and drinks were the best Cuban food we have had in a very long time. I have never been there before but will definitely go back. We had Iris as our waitress and she was so bubbly and attentive to our needs. We ordered dessert for my friend's birthday and they brought out cake with a firework type of object on top. Like I said it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to visiting again.
Great Cuban Food!
My wife an I was visiting Ft Lauderdale and thought we would try this restaurant. Little did we know that it was owned by Emilio and Gloria Estefan. The atmosphere was great . Of course we dined on a Wednesday night and welcomed the silent ambience. Our waiter, Yusnel, was very nice and helpful in steering us through the menu. For starters we had the stuffed plantain cups-shrimp criollo which was delicious and highly recommended. for our entrée , I had the Shredded Beef which had great Cuban flavor, taste and tenderness. My wife had the grilled seafood platter which was very plentiful and nicely seasoned, according to my wife. Our waiter informed us that on Fri and Sat music is featured which would have been fun to attend if we would have known. We plan to attend this restaurant again in the future. High Recommended!
Good place. Will recommend. Again, servers must be English proficient otherwise it is very difficult to communicate.
My mother's birthday was a hit
This was my first time at the restaurant and we came there for my mothers birthday. My Sisters and I live in New York and wanted my mom to have a great birthday celebration. She wanted Cuban food so I looked up restaurants near her and Bongos had good reviews and I see why. The food, service, music & ambiance was great. I can't wait to come back to Florida to go back to Bongos and of course see my mom.
I went to Bongos on a Saturday night, The place is really nice except once seated the waitress forgot some of the guest food and when asked for the Manager someone a female worker acted like it was a burden to find out about the food her face looked like I was giving her issues.
Bacon-Wrapped Plantains 😱
We enjoyed beef empanadas and plantains wrapped in bacon, both delicious!! Red Sangria was fabulous too. Must return for full dinner menu. The decor and ambiance is amazing.
Cuban Food at it BEST !
I was not ready for the delights that Bongos had in store for my friend and I. The food was so good, especially the crispy pork (who knew it could be that tender and crispy at the same time even the texture was awesome. The main dining area has this amazing all white huge chandelier that I swear added to the flavor of my meal. I know the live band did. It's an experience that one must put on their bucket list. I'm from Atlanta by way of Pittsburgh and I have not had food and ambiance blended so well, and I have not even told you about the rooftop club. OMG see for yourself. I hope I get to experience it again. Go enjoy you will not regret it. First time trying Cuban food. Make sure you get the sampler appetizer
Great Cuban Food!
We came here because we were looking for someplace convenient before a show at Hard Rock Live. Didn't really expect the food to be anything special; we were hoping for decent. What a pleasant surprise! The food was excellent, and so was the service. Four of us shared an appetizer platter and some empanadas, and we each had a main course (various beef and pork dishes). Everything was great, and the price was very reasonable. We go to concerts at the Hard Rock Live frequently, and this will be our go-to place for dinner. If we're in the area, we'll consider coming here even if we don't have a concert.

I don't like spicy/rich food so I ordered the baked chicken, it was dry almost tasted like it was boiled... was not good at all I really couldn't eat much of it.

Great Place for Cuban Food - who knew?
We were grabbing bite before a concert at Hard Rock, as we always do, expecting an average experience, as we always do...but it was terrific! Although we had reservations for the dining room, we decided to eat at the outside bar where we had met with friends for cocktails. The bartenders were talented and attentive, and the food was really delicious - high quality and well prepared. The ambiance is upbeat and fresh. I recommend it highly!

Absolutely the BEST Cuban food I have ever had. I will definitely go back to try more dishes. Our table had the shredded chicken and the roasted chicken. Great tasting black beans. The avocado appetizer was wonderful. The presentation of the Tres Leche was a wow and it was very tasty.
Great dining spot at the casino
We went with friends who were staying at the hotel and for them, this was a great option since they were without transportation. For us, who live locally, it was a bit of a drive but worth it for the food and atmosphere. My only complaint was that once the live band started, it was completely impossible to have a conversation. Fortunately, we were finished eating so we were able to go outside and finish our drinks. The staff was very accommodating for that. The food was really fresh and the drinks were good if not a bit expensive ($14 for a mojito). Overall I'd go back if I happened to be in the area.
We had a wonderful dinner at Bongos. The ceviche was great and the churrasco steak was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice and the live band was a plus. Very nice.

For Valentine's Day dinner, I was dying to go to Bongo's. I hadn't been there in years! Imagine my surprise when I found out that the one by the triple A closed. Fortunately for me, I found out about this one in Hollywood, and well, it was even better than the other one. My boyfriend and I went, immediately fascinated by the ambiance and the location. Considering the busy night it was, I'm surprised we didn't have to call the waiters to our table more often; they were quite attentive. The food was delicious. I tried their reduced-calorie chicken and I was impressed. It didn't taste like a diet at all. Drinks were great, as were the desserts. Unfortunately they had run out of flan (bummer!), but we got free mango-flavored puddings. My boyfriend, in particular, said the pudding was worth it coming alone. Oh, and to top it all off, my boyfriend was super happy as he spent less than he thought he would and I received a free red rose at the restaurant. Overall experience: SO WONDERFUL THAT I MUST GO BACK!!! 🌹
Live music was great but insanely loud.
+ Great food + Attentive server + Good location + Live band - Crazy loud (don't try to talk to each other) - Front desk makes people "wait for a table" (room was at 50% capacity when we were actually seated).
Great restaurant to enjoy good music and food
Bongos Cafe is a great restaurant. This was my first at the restaurant. Everything was great from the music to the food. I would defiantly come back to this restaurant.
Went to the resturant the night before Valentines
The setup was very nice! Our waitress was very nice and attentive my wife enjoyed her avocado salad and ceviche I had the pulled chicken with black beans and white rice the Chicken was DRY!!! they definitely need to add some sort of sauce or Mojo to it the Black Beans and White rice was good over all we had a good time I will definitely go back.
Terrible place and bad food
Terrible place and bad food
I celebrated my birthday at Bongos last Friday. It as truly amazing. The food was delicious! I mean the food was tasty and cooked to perfection!!! It's a great atmosphere, loud music and just very vibrant and upbeat. My friends and I had a great time and I loved the way they sang happy birthday and brought out a piece of cake with a flaming candle! Absolutely a great time!
The food was amazing and service was tip notch. Everything about this place was first class
very quiet, good for conversation
wonderful place, went on a Thursday night, couldn't believe how empty it was at 7:15p, the hostess called to confirm my reservation, only to add if we were more then 15min late, we'd have to be put on a waiting list, well we were almost an hour late , because of accidents on the turnpike....... and arrived to an empty restaurant , we laughed and counted maybe 8 other patrons..... food is always great and Miguel was an excellent server.
Great Food Great Music!
Great night life restaurant with beautiful decor, modern flair, fantastic Cuban cuisine!
Bongo's might be better for drinks only
While we secured a decent table on the 2nd floor, the restaurant itself was not inviting. Our server was good. The food was mediocre at best. No one had anything that stood out for a "must return." When the food was delivered to our table it was food lottery - we were only 4 people. The check was expensive for such a bland experience. It was a very sterile experience - the ambiance, food, staff. I would not recommend Bongo's.

I have to say the Ambience was beautiful, the food was great when it finally came, the wait time was terrible I waited over 20 minutes for my server to come to my table, 40 minutes for my food to arrive after I ordered it without the appetizers never arriving to enjoy. Again the food was great, lively atmosphere but terrible services from the waiter which brought our first experience to Bongos as a disappointment but good enough for my wife to wright a great review on her face book leaving, leaving out the wait time. Sincerely Mr. Kelley

Food and ambience was very good . Service not so much. Waiter seemed overwhelmed and we were there before the rush on a show night.
Great food, drink and atmosphere.
Overall a great experience. We started out at the bar for a few drinks, the bartenders were attentive and very nice overall, always checking on us. We then went to have dinner. Food quality was very good, portions were just the right size and prices were extremely reasonable. The atmosphere was very nice and suitable for a romantic dinner as well. It was not very crowded when we were there, i could see it being a little congested if they were full as some tables were a little close together. Very clean all around as well. Only complaint would be that the volume of the live music was very loud. When we first sat down to eat there was no music. The live music started halfway through dinner and for many of the songs my date and I found ourselves almost having to scream to hear each other and we were a good distance from the music.
A lot of fun but $15 for a mojito and $60 for a paella is a bit much. Wish our waiter would've told us the price and size of the paella as it was only for my husband. But the music and ambience were terrific and for that I'd recommend it.
What a DISAPPOINTMENT!
Someone had recommended Bongos to us when we were looking for a "steak place". He said he was married to a Cuban woman & this was where they always go! What a disappointment! Upon arrival, the waiter took our drink order. After delivering the drinks, he disappeared! He did not bring a cracker or a piece of bread! NOTHING!! My husband finally got up & went to the bar looking for something to go with the drinks! he was actually told that they only give bread "upon request"!!! @ that point, if it was up to me, I would have left! I have to ASK for a PIECE of BREAD!?? I stayed only because my husband refused to leave & make a scene. Dinner was OK -- We went somewhere else for dessert! My advice....DON'T go to BONGO'S!!
My experience at Bongos was great! Waitress was there when we needed, food came out very fast. It was delicious!
New Year's Eve so so
Traditionally New Year's Eve dining is a disappointment, this is no different. Food was not delivered in order, was Luke warm, and mass quantity prepared while very expensive at $125 a plate. Server was very friendly and apologetic but kitchen was not prepared. I cannot state whether I would return but have enjoyed other restaurants by this owner so am assuming this was a NYE bad night
It wasn't a good NYE
It was too expensive, the food wasn't good enought for that cost, it was delayed. The live band wasn't actually live, it had a recording helping the 3 or 4 people at the stage. No goot at all!
New Year experience
The music was good. The band was really good. However no place to dance..There was space up at the skywatch but over there the boom boom music was way too loud and the place too crowded.. The menu was from the other place, the forks and knives were missing..The tables so crowded that it was no way to dance or even pass by.. The food was good. The main entree very delicious..However the waitress got us 2 champagne glasses too few. Overall it was a little too chaotic and messy.. Overall I would not repeat my experience over there.

Waiting an hour and a half to receive our food. Didn't get it all right. The noise level was so bad. I would have gone home if it were just my husband and I.
The food was decent
The service not so much, our waiter didn't come back during our meal and they were not busy at the time. I will say our food came from the kitchen very quickly!
