"At Bobby Vans 54th Street, you can expect the same great service and the same great food as our other restaurants. Tucked away in another historic restaurant location, (at one time this was the hang out spot for such stars as Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack) there is plenty of history and untold stories behind these walls, if only they could talk. Conveniently located just east of Park Avenue and 4 blocks north of The Waldorf-Astoria, this is where you want to be. As you walk into the restaurant you’re greeted by our hosts and a large credenza filled with beautiful bottles of wine. Glancing to your left you overlook the spacious yet always occupied bar, where the bartenders know your name and have your drink waiting for you before you can even say hello. Separating the bar from the dining room is a glass window so you can see all the action of other diners enjoying their meals. Our dining spaces can be divided into a space as intimate as a party of 12 or can be fully opened to accommodate a party of up to 140. Manhattan abounds with steakhouses. Neither the best nor the least of them, Bobby Van's is an okay choice for lunch. That said, the salad portions were on the small side, but the prices are on the high side. Good steaks for the carnivore. Not too much else for the rest of us.

Outstanding steaks! The filet mignon is tasty and tender. And the roast corn is marvelous. Occasionally things run a little salty... it's the one thing I would change. But it won't stop me from coming back.

very consistent and good for the after work business steak dinner . Wine list has some good choices at a reasonable markup. Bar gets pretty crowed and loud though. So make reservations don't try and hang at the bar and wait for a table.

Not nearly as good as it should have been...

Food was mediocre, service was good (not great), table was too cramped for our group of 6, and the wine seemed like it had not been stored properly and was close to being corked...in hindsight, I wish I'd sent it back. However, I did not want to complain, but my Chinese CEO said it tasted sour and it did not improve after breathing. I arranged this business dinner for my Chinese colleagues in town from Shanghai...and none of them were happy with this dinner at Bobby Van's. How disappointing.

Great spot for a Birthday Celebration

We were celebrating our son's 35th birthday, and he is a steak guy, through and through. We started with a cold seafood tower, which was a very generous portion (there were 5 of us, and there were leftovers). We shared the Porterhouse steak and it was perfectly cooked, and melted in our mouths. Sides of asparagus, hash browns and creamed spinach were excellent as well. The service was attentive and extremely professional. Bobby Van's remains my "go to" place for steak in NYC!

I went here with my boyfriend for valentine's day. This wasn't the most romantic place but it had a good ambiance. The food was good and the service was impeccable. The staff was very friendly. My boyfriend had the NY strip and he thought it was good, but not great. He enjoyed he's food.

Pretty Good, Nothing Terribly Special

We went for restaurant week lunch. The service was really quick in between courses, and everything tasted ok but it was really nothing special. They also mixed up our steaks when serving them, and some of the food was on the cold side. Dessert was also meh. I wouldn't go back for the full menu.

I went to Bobby Van's steakhouse on restaurant week for dinner. The food was good. Nice steak, flavoured sides, decent wine. The service was okay. Once you ask for the restaurant week menu the attitude kind of change. I think a check of $200 for 2 people is not good enough there. I enjoyed dinner but was not impressed. The filet mignon and skirtsteak had more fat than I expected. The desserts are not their strong thing, both cheesecake and chocolate decadent were ok, cheesecake was a little better. An expresso for over 7 bucks, small drinks for 15 you expect something nicer. At that price point I wouldn't go back.

I came here for restaurant week. I ordered the skirt steak . It tasted dry and too salty. Chocolate Decadence for dessert which was cold and hard. It would have been better if it was served at room temperature or warm up a little.

RW Special

We had a wonderful RW steak dinner. Good value. Steaks were very good. Wine list is excellent with several nice choices for $50 or less. Not quite as good as the full menu steaks, but certainly a good value and good quality overall. Good service. The small bar area is a good spot for a brief meeting over cocktails. Appetizers and small plates looked very nice and many options.

Lives Up to Expectations

Bobby Van's on 54th is a nice traditional New York steakhouse. You can get thick slabs of meat with the usual sides. Well aged. Well cooked. Traditional steakhouse attention from the wait-staff. I particularly like it for lunch. The sliced steak sandwich comes on a huge plate with French fries and onion rings and lettuce and tomato. The salad with sliced steak is also a nice lunch option. You are lucky if you come on a day when they have gazpacho - it is excellent. If you have a business meeting on Park Avenue in the 50s, you can't do much better for a business lunch.

I'm extremely happy I decided to go to this restaurant. The service was outstanding, by far the best dining experience I have had to date. The waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable in regards to items on the menu. I will definitely list Bobby Vans as being one of my favorite restaurants.

While waiting at the bar for my table, I was very offended at all the vulgarities coming out of the bartenders mouths. The did not seem to care, or even think that other patrons at the bar( (other than the regulars they were speaking with) might be offended. In addition, my steak had to be sent back twice because it was cooked wrong TWICE. Finally I cx my dinner and left hungry. Will never go back, nor will I recommend this restaurant

Nice atmosphere but on the pricey side for the quality of food. One of us had beef and the other had salmon. Both were good, but not exceptional. For restaurant week pricing the menu and the food were at a reasonable price, but I wouldn't pay full price for what was offered. Soda and coffee added a lot on to the bill. Service was quite nice and we did not feel rushed.

Great steak certainly not questionable. But as we decided to go here after a busy day and had our winter coats on rather than a suit and tie found the staff look down upon us and made us feel very unwelcome. I found this very disrespectful as places like this should be very carful whom they discriminate against because you never know who a couple may be. Over all I would suggest BLT STEAK for a better steak service and over all amazing evening don't waste your time with obnoxious wait staff.

Ended 2015 with a delicious meal at Bobby Van's with my family. Started with the cold seafood tower, which was excellent . Entrees were just as good. Love the decor of this place. Definitely pricey, but worth it.
