Beachhouse - Moana Surfrider Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful restaurant .. Fine surroundings...
Have been to this restaurant on several occasions when visiting from Australia. Went for my mothers birthday this week. Restaurant is in fabulous position, elegant surroundings and staff attentive. Two members of our party enjoyed their meals. However the other two ordered the lobster pasta which we had to send back due to the fact that it was gluggy and tasteless. Staff we're very good and removed our meals from our bill.
Typical Hotel Dining
The food was terrific but the service was extremely slow. It is such a large restaurant that there is little ambiance other than the great ocean view. Reasonably priced but nothing spectacular

Food was so so. Took a very long time to order. A waiter other than the one assigned to its stopped by twice to tell us his colleague would take our order when he should have just taken it on his behalf.

We were celebrating my uncle's 80th birthday and we couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. Fabulous setting with a band playing in the courtyard. Warm friendly greeting with quiet efficient service throughout the meal. The food was delicious and plentiful. Without being asked there was a special dessert surprise for my uncle. A wonderful night which I hope to repeat some day soon.

This is my most favourite restaurant in the world. Through the generations our family have dined here on holiday in Waikiki. It has never failed to please. My father and mother dined there and now I am bringing my grandchildren for dinner. What more could anyone wish for. Heavenly atmosphere, great wines, food and service. Thank you Carol
Excellent food, amazing service and we were treated to Champagne and Dessert for our 35th wedding anniversary. They made us feel very special.

Gorgeous setting, watered down drinks, great food
The Mai Tai was pathetic. Served in a tiny glass and watered down. No taste of rum. The onion soup and crab cakes were marvelous. The lamb was the best I ever had ($47) outside of Australia. The daily market vegetables were stupendous. The setting was incredible, the music wonderful. Service was attentive and pleasant.

Convenience over value
I love the Moana Surfrider for its rich history and its aesthetic. My first experience at the Beachhouse was great. This time around, however, it was just ok. I ordered the tasting menu. The portion's were perfect. However, my idea of medium and the chef's were a bit different and my flat iron state came out more on the well done side. Overall, the restaurant met our needs. We were looking for a convenient location that had a decent menu. We were not expecting to be wowed by the quality of food. The price for the convenience this time around was fine.

My favorite dinner spot in Honolulu! Exceptional service and great food. Beautiful view.
Peerless Dining Experience on Waikiki
The setting, the view, the food, the service - all excellent. I had eaten here several times on previous business trips, and have very fond memories of this restaurant. After cocktails at the Banyan Court bar, my wife and I dined at the restaurant with 4 of our girls (ages 12 - 16). Our waiter was very helpful and patient with all of our questions. The food, from appetizer through dessert, was superb. We split several appetizers, entrees, and sides (plus a couple of dessert plates that were sent compliments of the chef). Everyone left extremely satisfied that we had had our best meal during our week in Hawaii. We certainly look forward to our next visit. Make no mistake - it is expensive, but well worth the experience for a special occasion.
Not a celebration
Went here to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. I was so excited as i had been here only three weeks earlier and had a lovely experience. This trip was anything but. We were greeted nicely and the hostess even wished my daughter a happy birthday. Once seated the waiter told us the specials and then disappeared. We finally ordered, a special that was a tomahawk cut steak for two with salad and two sides. We ordered it medium, it came out rare. For our sides we picked the lobster mac and cheese and the truffle tater tots. The sad thing is that the tater tots were the best thing we ate and pretty sure they were ore ida with a little cheese melted on them. The meat was fatty and the mac and cheese, blah. The steak was suppose to be served with different flavored salts to season, which we did not get. In fact our waiter ignored us until he brought the bill and asked if we wanted desert, which we ended up getting at the cheesecake factory. If you really want a great meal and are celebrating a special occasion on Oahu go to Alan Wongs, best experience of our trip.
The food was excellent, the service attentive, the ambiance great. We had fillet steaks that were cooked to perfection a brilliant lobster bisque for entree and some chocolate fondue cake for dessert. Always worth a try but be ready for a hit to the hip pocket when the check arrives.

Beautiful dining under a terrace under the stars. I would order the fresh caught fish and a bottle of wine. Lovely evening. I would go back! 5 Star experience.
Great dinner, enjoy live music from bar!
We dined here for our last night on holiday. Thoroughly enjoyed the live music from the barefoot bar. Plenty of space, you don't feel like you're dining with other guests. It's basically on the beach so the views and atmosphere are great!
Moana Surfrider Excellent
What a beautiful place to have dinner at the Beach House restaurant in the most gorgeous setting. It was a fairytale setting could be so romantic. Lovely food great service loved it all will definetely go back next time in Honolulu. The 3 top restaurants we went to this time it rated no 1 up there with Ocean House leaves Nobu a fair way back.
Food, Service and View were all fantastic. We requested seating where we could view the setting sun and we were seated where we could watch the setting sun.
Beach house Moana is a gem on the shore of Wakiki! It has old world charm with fantastic views. The afternoon Tea was a pleasant experience with great service, fine teas and food.

Surprisingly delicious and very attentive and perfect service! View and ambiance are amazing. Overall, our favorite restaurant in Honolulu this time!
Good for brunch
Ordered the breakfast steak and eggs. I was pleasantly surprised that the potatoes were wonderfully multi-colored and the salad was very fresh. The steak was cooked perfectly.
Dinner out with Mom
Brilliant beach side dining. Excellent food, local as possible. Great service. Perfect for romantic and memorable moments. I have dined here many times, twice during this trip, and have never been disappointed. Coming from the land of great beef, I never order from the steakhouse, but rather always the sea food and fish side of the menu. Never disappointed. The opa was excellent, on risotto with hamakua mushrooms. Excellent. Started with the crabcakes and a nice Rose. Brilliant.

Excellent sundown ambience on the veranda, with soft Hawaiian live music floating in from the adjacent bar under the banyan tree. Kimi our waiter was very good at his job, yet friendly and relaxed, and we had nice evening. The food was well prepared and presented. Not too adventurous a menu, but good steak and seafood. Good selection of wines by the glass as well.
I was expecting top notch service and quality food. My wife and I only received top notch service. Granted it was a day before Valentine's Day I expected it to be very busy which both my wife and I didn't mind. Our food took about 45 mins to come out but that was understandable. When we finally received our main entree our Wagyu tomahawk steak was really try. We ordered it medium-rare. It was as if it was just sitting out on the table ready to be sent out to us.
American-asian cross-over food at its best. Attentive service and good value for price (e.g 3 course menue). Anytime again!

Waikiki with a wow wine list
We sat a few feet from the sand on Waikiki at sunset, with one of the most amazing (and extravagant) wine lists I've ever seen, dining on succulent prime rib with roasted, locally-grown vegetables and parmesan whipped potatoes.... 'nuf said.

I can't remember the name of our server but he was so great. My mom and I are here our last night in town and had great service. We are relatively light eaters(she is vegetarian) and are always a little apprehensive of just ordering salads and sides to share because of their lower cost in comparison to other menu items. We still received excellent service and everything we ate was AMAZING. The only bummer was that we asked for our extra food to be packed up to go from the person who cleared the items but we never got them back. We left before we even realized that we didn't get it--not a very big deal and didn't impact our overall experience, just a note. Thank you for the great evening of food and cocktails!

We arrived at our reservation time and asked if we were going to be able to have the waterside table that we asked for through Open Table. The maitre'd asked us to sit at a table and wait for a couple of minutes. We were not disappointed. Our seaside table came open and we slipped right into it. For dinner I had the snapper special ... It was wonderful. She had the lamb chops ... It too was superb. All and all it was a magical evening.
One of our favs
Elegant outdoor venue with good food, great wine list, lovely beach setting/view. We came back after a great dinner last year and was not disappointed.
We have eaten at the Beachhouse 3 times. We found it on our first visit to Hawaii in 2008 and decided we needed to return from Canada for a special occasion in 2014. We returned again in 2016 for another special occasion. This is our favourite eating place. We hope to be abe to return to Hawaii for another visit and will be sure to stop at the Beachhouse.

Wonderful dinner, the service was awesome and the music and view made the experience pure Hawaiian. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone, especially if you want to feel like you are in the islands.
Grand Lady of Waikiki
Nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating on the beach at Waikiki. Recommend the complimentary valet parking as parking might be otherwise difficult.
Great views, food and atmosphere. A must place to dine if you are in Waikiki!
We had a great night at Beachhouse! Carlo was our server and he did a great job making recommendations. We told him we were celebrating a new job early in our meal. After clearing our dishes instead of asking us if we wanted to see the dessert menu, he brought us a celebratory flight of dessert samplers. It was a very sweet gesture and made our night even more fun. We will go back for another celebration!
One of the best
This is a wonderful place to enjoy all that Waikiki has to offer. The food is good. Service is good. I had tea earlier in the day which I would not recommend because the desserts weren't that great and the scones were tiny, maybe two bites each and you get two. Value is not there for the price. Dinner was lovely. At night it's harder to see the banyan tree. Mainly the entertainment was disappointing. It's hard to please everyone when it comes to this though. We wished for quiet Hawaiian sounds. Instead there was a man playing oldies or whatever. It seemed a rare thing to find soothing atmosphere for dinner in Waikiki. You can't beat the Royal Hawaiian.
Our favourite Honolulu restaurant
This review covers two visits, out of a four night stay, so we obviously think it's good! Beach oust is superbly located and a wonderful open air, colonial style veranda and courtyard. Food is excellent, both choice and quality. Service can be slow, but I like their loyalty - some of the waiters have served there for years, at least one for 25 years! The key issue is very limited number of tables for four on the veranda (hence a great choice if it's just two of you). We know and love the restaurant, it's in the Westin Moana Surfrider...we stayed in the hotel,we are SPG Gold Members, I booked the table for late January on Open Table in early November...but on the first night we didn't get a good table (right next to the door in constant use). I spoke to them about it before the 2nd night, we turned up a good 20 minutes early and got one of the best tables.
