Good Food, but a Great Food Price
The food was good, not exceptional which is something that I did expect from all of the reviews. My flatiron steak was cooked perfectly, but the meat itself had no flavor relying instead on the sauces to make it special. My wife had the risotto, which sounded like it would have a smokey tomato flavor, but instead was just risotto, nothing special nice, but bland shrimp completed the dish. Food was under-flavored and I found myself searching for the salt and pepper. If a restaurant prides itself on getting the seasoning perfect, then they should get the seasoning perfect. The last issue that made this a memorable evening for all the wrong reasons is "if I am sitting closer to the person next to me, than to my date across the table" it is to darn close. Reduce the seating if you must, but give people some room.
Our server, Stephen, was wonderful--a perfect blend of professionalism and personal attention. Food is always good!
Bazins is one of my favorite places.
The food is consistently good at Bazins as is the service. Always a nice place to visit and dine.
Friday Night Date
Friday night date with my wife, 8:00 reservation, not a packed house. Food was excellent, appetizers delicious, and the wine was superb. Our waiter was very good but the service in between courses and the delivery of the check was slow. We felt like we were always waiting. I love this place but more emphasis should be placed in speed of service.
This was a business meal with a client and the choice of Bazins was a good one. Our appetizers were the meatballs and the crispy oysters. Both were very good, the oysters were done to perfection and layered on spinach which added to the overall flavor; the meatballs were not quite as good as the oysters, but still a welcome addition. The meatballs were on a bed of polenta with an egg, which was a nice touch. My meal was the beef short ribs and they were cooked perfectly, falling apart with just the use of my fork. They were on mashed potatoes with carrots as a side and both were good accompaniments to the dish. My client had the sea bass which he enjoyed. We choose the Shafer cabernet as our drink which is an absolutely excellent wine. Very nice experience overall.
service is hit or miss
Have eaten at Bazin's many times. Food has always been good, ambiance is nice. Is a really good neighborhood restaurant. Main area for improvement would be that service is up and down. Most recent visit service was down. Waiter disappeared alot, which honestly is hard to do in a small place like Bazin's. One of our entrees was cooked rare when it was ordered medium. Not such a big deal, easily fixed, but took 5 to 10 minutes to get addressed as we couldn't find our waiter. Ended up having another waiter address.
Overall this was a very nice experience for an evening birthday dinner with a girlfriend. She had Bronzino; I ordered the pork chop - don't know why - I usually want fish. The presentations both were lovely, but the pork chop so tough I had to send it back. Instead I ordered the Sea Bass and it was "melt in your mouth" perfect.

A delightful luncheon with a wide variety of dishes in all categories, even making gluten free meals easy to obtain. Food beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned. Wait staff was attentive, informed, polite and cheerful. It was particularly nice to discover that we could park in back on the same level since one of us had difficulty walking down steep ramps and using steps. We will come again and again.
One of the Best Restaurants in Northern Virginia
We have dined at Bazin's for a number of years and have had consistently excellent food and service. It never disappoints us and our friends who have joined us. The rack of lamb was outstanding!
Easter brunch was delightful!
We had brunch after Easter service and were very impressed with the service and the food. The omelets and French toast and coffee were delicious, worth the price. We recommend it and will probably return.
Great brunch menu!
We went here after Easter mass on Sunday for brunch with two children ages 9 and 12. My son loved the bananas fosters french toast, my daughter loved the fact that they had two children's options (waffle or eggs with bacon and hashbrowns). She had the eggs and said they were yummy! I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict on brioche and my husband had the filet mignon sliders. Both my husband and son ordered the key lime pie for dessert. Overall, we had a great experience and love having Bazins in our neighborhood! A true gem indeed!
What Patrick Basin does with sauces is pure perfection. Whatever the entrée, he matches it with the perfect sauce, and the dish reaches a level of perfection of taste. He's amazing!

Bazin's was great, as always!
The food and service at Bazin's are consistently good and we've enjoyed several special occasions there. They also have a great lunch menu and it isn't crowded.
Ladies Who Lunch
Five of us get together once a month or so for lunch somewhere in the metro area. Bazin's is definitely a lovely place and we plan on returning soon.
Great food. Skip the cappuccino.

Wonderful As Always!
The greatest thing about Bazin's is that it is consistently friendly, comfortable, and has great food. You never go to Bazin's and come out with a bad experience, there is so much attention to detail by the management. My wife had a wonderful cod dish and we split a Bazin's salad, gourmet greens with some other goodies. I had a Gin Rickey prepared to perfection by the bartender and a wonderful glass of Sancerre with my Rockfish. Friday nights are popular so book yourself a table and stop in.
A Great Evening in a Lovely Restaurant
It had been several years since I was last at Bazin's on Main, and I'm very happy I gave it another shot. The food was excellent, as was the service. No complaints at all. In all fairness, though, we ate there on a Thursday night, when the crowd was small. My complaint during our previous visit, on a night when it was packed, was the uncomfortable noise level. Not a problem this time, but with a bigger crowd, that still might be the case.
Nice place to dine.
Food was good but not great. Menu is "eclectic" but taste and flavors were good. Wine list has something for most preferences and price points. Service was good. Our server was engaging, knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and seemed genuinely friendly. Decor is pleasant. Seating arrangement was odd, especially for a restaurant that isn't full on a Tuesday night. Hostesses and the manager could avoid using the least comfortable of tables as their go to choice for seating. Wasn't a horrible table, but there were better (vacant) tables close by and the restaurant was hardly what you would call busy. I'll happily dine there again though.
Bazin's neighborhood restaurant.
Fabulous neighborhood restaurant. We had the Cod and short rib. Both were excellent. Casual dress and atmosphere. We will definitely return.
Food was awesome, server a little too intrusive, should have left us alone and verified double shots before serving
Went for a birthday celebration and felt over all it was over priced for the quality of food. Ordered the special monkfish for $27 and it was dry. The key lime pie was almost impossible to cut the crust with a fork, the warm olives were not very flavorful and the wine was just ok. My boyfriend ordered an old fashioned and it was red from so much grenadine and cost $15...
Always a Treat to Go Here
We really enjoy Bazin's and the variety of the menu that changes with the seasons, keeping some favorites on throughout the year. The Potato and Onion Ravioli is a generous appetizer and one that my kids enjoy eating as their entree! The flatiron steak is a flavorful cut and their fish is always done right! It was a family night out to get a break from cooking and also to celebrate some good news for the family.
One of my Go To Places for lunch
This is always a good place to go so I tend to go when ever I need to take a client or an employee out. Service and food are always great. Took a client today and they loved it.

Bazin's is always wonderful. Excellent food, outstanding service and, for the quality of the experience, is a great value. Highly recommended.
Another fine evening at Bazin's
My wife and I have been to Bazin's a number of times. Our dining experience has always been excellent. We recommend it to our friends and look forward to returning soon.
Good Restaurant - Just Not For Special Occasions
I've been to Bazin's several times and have always generally enjoyed it. The food is great and the service is fine. However when my husband and I went for Valentine's Day, the tables were packed so closely together you couldn't really have a conversation without people on either side of you being a part of it too. I understand restaurants want to make a profit and want to accommodate as many patrons as possible on a special event day, but this was really too much. Tables were less than 4 inches apart. Really destroyed the idea of a romantic Valentine's dinner out. I was extremely disappointed and left feeling like I'd wasted my time and money.
Amazing, excellent, extraordinary. The best place hands down. Food is super delicious. Was not dissatisfied by any means.
Outstanding Valentine's Day at Bazin's
I gathered a group of friends to dine at Bazin's on Valentine's Day. The service and food were outstanding on a busy day for the restaurant. They had a brass band entertaining us, making the occasion even more festive.

We visited here for a Sunday brunch and was pleasantly greeted by a live jazz quartet. Clearly a favorite destination for many, there wasn't an empty table to be seen nor hardly any space through which one could navigate to their seat. The brunch menu offers a richer twist on many favorites, using plenty of fresh ingredients. We all left happy, satisfied and refreshed.

Went for valentine's day bunch. The fried oysters appetizer was amazing. The portions are generous so I had plenty of leftovers for dinner. Would definitely come back for a traditional dinner some time.
Bazin's has a great menu
The menu at Bazin's boasts a lot of fantastic choices. Most impressive is their support for people looking for gluten free menu options. They go beyond simply listing the menu items, the wait staff are clearly versed in what ingredients are in each item and ready to answer any question. Bazin's proves that gluten free selections can be as tasty and enjoyable as any other option.

Food is very good and service was quickj and unobtrusive, but the restaurant is crowded and noisy on busy nights.
Great Valentine's Day!
Everything was wonderful, as always. The potato ravioli with lobster sauce appetizer is always a must-have.
Fabulous food but sardine seating
Food was outstanding. The ravioli appetizer was delicious. My partner had the sake salmon which was moist and memorable. My Lamb shank was so tender, the meat literally fell off the bone. It was complemented with a delightful risotto in a flavorful sauce. My only problem, and maybe because it was Friday before Valentine's day, I felt like a sardine in a crushed can. I'll have to try this place on a non-holiday. The waiters had to squeeze by my chair and bumped it several times. They apologized but I still felt squished-in. I also noticed that the bar scene was crowded and loud. I wonder how the ambience would be on a non-holiday. I hope to return on a less crowded night and try the other menu items. Seems like their chef is remarkable - even with a crowd.
Fabulous Wining & Dining!
The ginger marinated shrimp appetizer was amazing and their wine list is outstanding! Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic food and service
MY wife, 5 year old daughter and I love this place. Always great food and the servers are not only give good service but are great to chat with. Everything about it makes it a place that we want to frequent often.
