Dinner at Asti has always been exceptional. Asti is a wonderful place to unwind, have a glass of wine and relax with friends over a pleasant meal. The ambience is exquisite, the staff are low key and friendly and the owner will usually stop by to make sure everything is good. Asti should be on your short list of exceptional Austin restaurants.

A Hyde Park Gem
I've been going to Asti with my family and boyfriend (now fiancé) for years and I can honestly say we've never had a bad meal or experience, ever. The food is always fantastic - fresh, vibrant and authentic. While the seasonal specials are tough to beat, the steady menu items always hit a home run. The wine list is not only affordable but the wait staff is also very knowledgeable and makes great suggestions. It truly is a Hyde Park gem!
Reliable neighborhood trattoria
Nice space, good service, excellent appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Has been a reliable standby for a "nice dinner out someplace," as well as birthdays and anniversaries.

Food was bland across the board - tried everyone's dish (we were 7).
Nice selection of dishes -- appetizers, pizza, pasta, etc. The current pea green risotto is excellent. Variety of Italian wines though few reach really top quality.

Excellent little spot
Very nicely prepared, interesting food with extremely pleasant service. Highly recommended.
Great service and food!
Every time we visit Asti we are greeted like old friends. This time with Jason was particularly memorable. The new Gnoochi dish was a big hit, and the fettecini and clams was delish. We can't say enough nice thing about Asti, but we keep trying.
A great meal!
I've been to Asti many times, but this meal was one of the best, especially the grilled octopus special. The restaurant was slammed and our order evidently got lost in the kitchen between starters and entrees, but the staff was gracious about admitting it. My sister who was there with me also thought it was a wonderful dinner.

Wonderful, as usual
My husband and I made a spur of the moment decision to eat at Asti, our favorite Hyde Park restaurant, and were pleasantly surprised to get a table. We didn't have huge appetites but wanted to taste as much as we could so we shared everything. Charcuterie platter, mixed green salad, spring pea risotto and goat sugo, the night's special. The meat selection on the charcuterie plate was perfect as were the olives, nice and lemony. They even pleased my non-olive-eating husband. All other courses were split for us in the kitchen which was a nice touch. The fresh green salad was dressed perfectly. The spring pea risotto was chocked full of treats and topped with a fried duck egg. But the star of the meal was the goat sugo. Braised to perfection in a tomato based sauce and served over baked polenta. It had just the right amount of funkiness from the goat without tasting off. Our only misstep was eating too much of the delicious focaccia and not saving room for dessert because the affogato and beignets are the BEST!
One of my go-to restaurants
The food is almost always great, the staff are friendly, and this is a very pleasant spot for dinner. I regularly take campus visitors here for dinner if we want a quiet place to dine and don't want to try the latest hot-spot in the Austin restaurant scene.
Always a wonderful experience.
Always a wonderful experience.
There are now a lot of real good restaurants in Austin and a few great ones. ASTI I am afraid is not in the group ... a few years back I would have considered this a good restaurant but the bar has been raised and the restaurant has not kept up. The menu is really limited and just not inspiring. So sad. A good location but just not where it use to be

Went here for my moms birthday. Great little spot. The stuffed mushrooms were to die for. My only complaint is that I asked the server if the meat in the carbonara was lean and she said yes. When it came out it was 95% fat. I couldn't eat it. They did comp us that entree along with a free dessert...so great service. I would go back!!
An Austin favorite
With so many restaurants opening in Austin, it's easy to be lured by the newest hot spot on the scene. But I continue to return to Asti knowing the fare, the ambiance and the service will be spot on every time.
Fabulous food....enjoyed so much we took friends the next night....went 2 nights in a row which we have never done (being from NYC). Owners are fantastic and every staff individual just as great.
We went here for a romantic date. The food was incredible and the services was lovely. The atmosphere was so sweet and we had a wonderful time.

Asti is awesome
It has been one of our favorite restaurants in Austin for years. Consistently good Italian food and excellent service.

Saturday night before Valentine's Day. The restaurant was at capacity. We had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived 15 mins early. Our server was clearly swamped and took a while to return each time; she was attentive and very pleasant. She accommodated a starch substitution (mashed cauliflower for orzo) without any hesitation. We were given a complementary amuse that was lovely. Food came out as it was ready, delivered by expo staff. Our entrees were delayed, but appetizers came quick. Water glasses stayed full. They worked as a team and delivered a great experience.
Delicious Valentine's dinner
My husband and I returned to Asti on the Saturday before Valentine's day to enjoy a special dinner together. We reserved ahead and it was fairly early, but the place was packed. In spite of that, the staff seemed to have the timing down to an art. People leaving and others coming in, seated quickly and efficiently. Very impressive. I was also pleased that they had a special menu BUT also their regular menu, which not only offers selection, but makes for a more affordable dinner, should one choose. So many restaurants were only offering expensive prix fixe which is so prohibitive to many to even go out for a reasonable dinner. My rigatoni was delicious, plentiful but not overboard on portions. My husband was very satisfied with his meatballs with polenta. We had both ordered these dishes before and were pleased to be able to have them again. Our server was delightful, and everyone helped each other out in delivering food, wine, etc. There's terrific team work and the owner is actively involved in the kitchen and at the same time, takes the time to speak with customers. We really enjoyed our night out.
The ambiance and clientel are cool n trendy but the prices are kinda high for the food.
Always a good choice
Good place to meet for lunch when you plan to have a discussion. Moderate noise level and food has a range to accommodate all guests. Always a great place.
Nice neighborhood spot to meet friends.
Tried Asti for the first time - love its sister restaurant Cantine for brunch with the kids. Enjoyed the wine selection and appetizers. My entree was a bit of a miss but the others seemed to enjoy theirs. The entree menu is a bit limiting, would love a few more options next time. Chef owner greeted the table and that was a very nice touch. Will come back again.
Great food, waitstaff and very accomodating.
The food was very fresh with lots of healthy options. The red sauce for the pasta was perfect for this northerner. Our server had so much patience with all our requests, and went out of his way to accommodate our different food needs. There are lots of gluten free options which we loved!

off their game
Food and service have been fine in the past. Off their game this night: we waited 10-15 minutes after being seated before being noticed by a busboy who filled water glasses for us and nudged our server. We ordered a couple of snacks (antipasti), pasta and mains. The pasta course came all at once with the mains- a fail for an Italian restaurant. One of the pastas and one of the mains were cold.
The stuffed mushrooms might be the best in the world!
This sister restaurant to Cantine on S. Lamar is also a great restaurant. It is located in the Hyde Park area at the intersection of 43rd Street & Duval. Service, food, ambiance were outstanding. It has good seating for couples and for four people. It can also accommodate 6 or more, but 2-6 is the optimal amount for this cozy neighborhood restaurant, which is well worth making a reservation no matter where you live in Austin. There are about a dozen counter stools facing the chefs which just adds to the cozy feel of the restaurant. Bonus: They serve relish covered crostinis while you make your menu selection and a wire basket of bread is served as soon as you place your order.

I'm a senior female. Seven or eight of us ladies have been coming to lunch at Asti's for years to celebrate each other's birthdays. At a long table in the back, it's quiet and we can hear. It's friendly service, and Emmet comes over to greet us. Every now and then, I get something that's delicious. Asti's has been in Austin long enough to become a neighborhood gem, and we're not even from Hyde Park, but it has traditional significance from days most of us worked at the University. Hope it last forever!
Worth a visit
Asti was extremely busy the night we were there. Our food was a bit slow coming out of the kitchen. Fortunately we were not pressed for time and our server could not have been more apologetic. He gave us an appetizer, comped our entrees and gave us a discount for our next visit. The food was excellent! We had the white bean purée and crostini, Cesar salad and mushroom risotto. We plan on another visit...
Saturday Night's Dinner at ASTI
We have had both lunch and dinner at ASTI Trattoria's on many occasions. The food, wine and service has always been excellent. Our dinner last Saturday evening was no exception. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a wonderful night out.
Always a great meal!
The meal was delicious, although it took a little longer than it should to get our food...the place was packed and it was Saturday night in their defense. I had a ravioli special and my date had the spaghetti carbonara. The ravioli (2 very large) were so good - one was stuffed with osso bucco and the other with carmelized onions.
Good! I just had higher expectations
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my experience at ASTI. That said, its reputation, location, price, and environment suggested that the food would be better. The appetizers, salads, and cocktails were fantastic. The main courses were a bit of a let down. The coffee was good as well.
WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG?
Our daughter gave us a gift certificate to Asti Trattoria 13 months ago. Shame on me for waiting this long. This place was fabulous, food was wonderful and the service was great. Will be back!
New Year's Eve
Although there was a special menu for the evening, the choices were great. The Polenta with bolognese was amazing. Service was excellent and it was obvious that the wait staff were enjoying themselves as well. Great experience. Emmett outdid himself.
