44 Stone Public House Ratings and Reviews
We had an great meal here. We started with the deviled eggs. The "bangers and mash" pastry was fantastic. The roasted chicken was really good. The Chai Tea Creme Brulee and the bread pudding were fantastic. Service was excellent too. Nice beer selection in bottles and on tap. We will definitely go back.

I had the Bangers n Mash Pasty and it was delicious. I literally sat there thinking how good it was as I was eating it, and I never do that. I'll definitely come back and I've already recommended it to friends.

A perpetual favorite, I never miss a chance to go to 44 Stone when I visit Columbia. The food is excellent, modern English pub style, And the rotating taps are invariably top-notch local brews. This visit I enjoyed the vegetable curry, accompanied by Boulevard's exceptional rye-on-rye-on-rye. I also had the chance to taste stouts from local favorites Mother's and Log Boat. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.

Delightful evening, food was terrific! The beer selection was expansive and the cicerone was knowledgeable! Will return soon!
Great place for lunch and a beer
My daughter is graduating from Med school at Mizzou, so we took a final trip to Columbia and picked up lunch and a few beers. Everyone was happy with their food and the beers were all top notch and not the "usual" types. I've always loved 44 Stone and it bums me that I may not be coming back for a while since all my kids have graduated.
Was late on the reservation called and they still held our table ...and they were at full house Food and service was awesome ! Very clean really enjoyed my night out , diffidently will be going back !
The boys loved their soup and fish n chips. I got tuna on my salad ordered mr and it came very dry. I was then told it had to be cooked that way because it was tuna. I know the opposite is true, but ordered salmon instead and it was cooked right. Must inform you chef that the white tuna should be cooked to mr
Very good food, excellent service
I have had two occasions to dine here for supper over the last two weeks. Both servers, Aisha and Taylor, were excellent, even though the restaurant was packed the last time. I like to try the soup of the day, as it is usually excellent. My husband prefers the beef dishes and says they are delicious, while I tend to the chicken, fish, or more vegetable based selections. Each time I have been here, the food quality is very good and even when it is full, it is not overly noisy, even near the bar area.
Went to 44 Stone on our anniversary dinner. First timers, found the establishment very romantic atmosphere and up scAle for CoMo. The entree presentation was amazing. Food was great, even though the server mixed up our plates. Will go back again. Beautiful restaurant!
We had a group of 7 people and our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Everyone's food was great except for mine. I got the fish and chips and my chips were very old and my fish was overcooked. Also, my friend got a glass of wine and it tasted bad. When she told the waiter, he said that he would have to pay for it himself (meaning that she couldn't just send it back without feeling super guilty). It was later determined that the wine was oxidized and had literally gone bad and the glass was replaced at no extra charge. We enjoyed the cheese fritters and beer selection.
Something new -
I had not tried this spot before even though I have eaten out in Columbia, MO many times. This place came recommended and it was a good recommendation. 10 of us had a group dinner, EVERYONE loved the good they got and the total bill was just over $300 (and we had cocktails and wine). Great food, great value, great find! We will be back -
This is one of our all time favorite places to go!
The food is always excellent, the service is great, and the variety of drinks makes it our favorite date night place to go.
Food is excellent. my wife and I love this place. Any time can get away from the kiddos this is our go to. Travel 30 miles to get here and would travel a 100 if had to. First of we like beer and 44 has a ton of it. If you can't choose one they will help you find one to your tasting. Appetizer, lamb sliders are our staple, a must have. We've even ordered an extra just to take home. Main course, I like my fish and on Friday and Saturday nights normally have a fish special. I've ate the whiskey salmon, trout, and skate fish. All were excellent and would recommend to anyone. My wife likes her meat(lol), she's had the steak, pork chops, and there burgers. All were wonderful and cooked exactly how she asked for them. She always gets there bacon, pretty sure they make it in house. Overall we love this place and would put the food, beverage, and service up against any. Thanks 44 stone for another wonderful dinning experience and we will see you soon. P. S. The deviled eggs are exceptonally good also.
Looking for a great place with good food? If so, definitely a place to check out in Columbia!
Pleasant surprise for out-of-town friends
We brought friends who were visiting for New Year's Eve. They had heard of 44 Stone but were concerned that it would be stuffy or pretentious. They (and we) loved everything - we had the Welsh rarebit appetizer, the salmon, the Magnum burger and the smoked pork tenderloin. The staff was helpful as always and we had a wonderful time. We're all definitely coming back!
Would order the same thing again
Our server, Michelle, was fun, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the beer selection and menu choices. We tried the Pub Cheese Fritters appetizer and they were so good, we ordered another round! Also worth mentioning is the Seasonal Vegetable Curry (with the added Tandoori Chicken - which I recommend). It was delicious. Would definitely come back again.
Good food and service; high priced
Good food and good service, but over-priced in my opinion. Drinks were also quite high priced. We appreciated the accommodation in changing our reservation party size at the last minute, but we were cramped in a corner. Selection was somewhat limited, but no complaints about the quality of the food.
Great service, delightful staff and great food!
We have had our annual book club holiday luncheon here for the past 3 years and have always been delighted with the service and food.

I didn't enjoy the experience that much. My wife's food was wonderful. I was not that pleased with mine however. The waitress asked if my wife would like a second drink after she had finished her first, my wife asked for a sample. The waitress forgot twice. By the time she remembered she brought us the check. I will give it another chance I do not go by one experience.
Always love 44 Stone!
Specials are always delicious, as well as the unique drinks. Fried buttermilk cake was awesome! Service also excellent.
Extremely good service
We went to 44 Stone at 11:45 on a Sunday, so we had a choice of their Sunday brunch menu, or the regular menu. Our group had 5 adults and one child. They do have a children's menu. Our server was extremely friendly, attentive, helpful, and professional. Since we were there at brunch, we did not avail ourselves of the huge beer and spirits menu. The food was very good. Some of us had the English breakfast, and others had a hamburger, and fish/chips. We enjoyed our experience very much, and would definitely go back.
Wide variety of types of food.
Wide variety of types of food.
Must try if you are in Columbia.
Great service, atmosphere, food & the brussel sprouts are delicious!
Good food, vast drink menu plus vibrant atmosphere
44 Stone is one of our 'special occasion picks'. The food is always good and my husband is enamored with the online beer camera. The stout steak is amazing every time and the roasted chicken always cooked just right. We were dining with friends this particular visit and I'm so glad we made reservations ahead of time. They set us up in a back room that allowed a much more reasonable noise level for conversation and we were able to be seated immediately on a Friday evening prior to a home football game (a true miracle). We didn't save enough room for dessert, but walked away with a wonderful meal and a great visit with out of town friends!
Great find in Columbia!
We really liked our experience at 44 Stone while visiting Columbia to visit our son and see a football game. We had reservations at 8:45 but went early to see if we could be seated and they had a place for 5 on the patio. The beer selection was great. Our food was wonderful. The Seoul disco fries app was delicious. The burgers some of the best ever. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an above average meal.
Good food, nice variety of choices food/drink.
Some of our dishes were over seasoned(salty) for our taste.
We would return. Try it.
Food was good. Our selection included bangers and mash, fish of the day and cheeseburger. We finished it off with fried buttermilk cake. All delicious. Food service was spot on. Staff friendly but a bit stressed. Great pub ambiance. Large selection of beer/ales/stouts. You'll like it!
not good for parties of 8 or more
We are frequent diners at Stone 44. The food is consistently good. The service is normally outstanding. But not this time. We made a reservation for 6 people then changed it to 8 people a couple hours before our reservation time, 6 PM. We had asked for outside and were told they normally don't do outside for reservations due to the uncertainty of the weather. I understand that. But, since we were not going to get an outside table the one would expect the table to be ready inside when we arrived. No such luck. They scrambled to get a table for 8 ready and ended up with an "L-shape" with seven people on one side and one chair in the bend of the "L". this lack of foresight made the evening uncomfortable. Clearly they cannot accommodate a group of eight. So don't try.
Reliably good food
We live in Columbia and eat out about once a week. 44 Stone Pub is one of the restaurants that we regularly frequent. We almost always get the curry dish with chicken, which is incredibly tasty. We also got the 44 burger, which also was really good. I thought that the fries were so-so, so we might get another side dish next time. They have interesting specials and we often get them and enjoy them. My only real complaint is that they serve tastes of beer (and perhaps wine) in tiny plastic cups, which seems incredibly tacky. This is unfortunate because they have a great selection of beers on tap (which rotates frequently). So it is nice to be able to get a taste before ordering. I once asked about this and the server said that they don't use glasses because they are too expensive to wash. But virtually every other restaurant I have been to that provides tastes uses glasses, and many provide a fair bit of beer or wine, not a thimble-full. Sometimes the restaurant is very noisy, especially on weekends. Unfortunately, the bar is essentially right in the middle of the dining area and so it can be quite loud. Fortunately, we went on a Wednesday night this time and it was pretty peaceful. There is a back room away from the bar, though it often seems occupied by private parties. We generally find the servers to be pleasant and helpful. Tanika was our server this night and she was very sweet.
The food was great, the beer was excellent, and the service was outstanding, all at a reasonable price.

Excellent meal and service.
Excellent meal and service.
We had a party of 9 and were seated in a back room with another larger group of 9 or so. It was very quiet and the service was excellent.
nice quiet dinner on a Sunday night
We have usually gone to 44 Stone Pub on a Friday evening, when it is usually pretty full and noisy. Since we prefer to eat in a more quiet setting, we have stopped going on Fridays. We went on a Sunday evening this time and it was nice and quiet. We got the curry dish, which is our favorite. It is reliably delicious. We also got the whiskey salmon, which we liked. I like IPAs and they always have several on draft. My only quibble is that they serve tastes in tiny plastic cups, which seems a bit tacky. In virtually every other restaurant where they serve tastes in small glasses. This isn't about the amount of the tastes, but rather the container. Even so, they have a nice menu and it was a pleasure to have a nice, quiet meal on a Sunday.
Mediocre at Best
We dined here on a trip to Columbia due to the rave reviews on OP. It did not live up to the reviews. Maybe because it was the end of graduation weekend and the beginning of all new servers. The service was adequate at best, the atmosphere was dark and claustrophobic. We were put in a table next to a wall size board listing beers, bourbons, etc. an annoying place to sit since we could not even read the board. Maybe, a seat in the bar is the answer but I hate to ask for a different table. It took some time to even place a drink order and the waitress brought me a beer instead of a the Sauvinaun Blanc I ordered....she did not know what a Sauvinaun Blanc was. So, I had to wait again to get the wine. The food was so so. I had Salmon and my husband had steak. Next time I would choose another restaurant for dinner.
We decided to try 44 Stone Public House for an early Sunday dinner after graduation. When we looked at the menu, we were delighted to see the variety of options, not the same old stuff. For appetizers we tried the cheese fritters, chicken livers, and disco fries. All were great. The cheese fritters were so great that we ordered more. The burgers and fried fish were the best that we've had in a long time! We plan to go back for burgers and some specialty draft beers on a football weekend this fall.
Friendly place, good food and drink.
Four of us went to celebrate my son's graduation from college. Meals were excellent and for me, I appreciated the scotch selection very much. My son likes the beer selection and we all liked the wine selection. Good service, friendly atmosphere, well worth a stop.
First of hopefully many visits
My group and I shared the cheese fritters and they were awesome. Based on recommendations, I tried the pork belly sandwich. This thing is very large, and very rich. I really enjoyed the taste, but may prefer my pork belly a little more crispy. For dessert, we all shared the bread pudding which was also superb. Can't wait to go back.
This place is awesome.
Great food, experience and setting. Must go for anyone.
